- Planxty playing live in the National Stadium on the South Circular Road in Dublin 1973
The information on the broadcast indicated that this tune was the Humours of Ballyloughlin.

It's the Merry Blacksmith!
Speaking as an Englishman, this is so joyful and life-affirming.
This is probably an English song

Ive watched this for about 34 mins stating after each view "Just one more"
The closeup of the pipe fingering is a treasure that may not have yet been fully exploited. These pipes are not standardized; what works on one may not on another. There are multiple ways of making similar tone effects on some notes but for 2 different techniques to give the same effect, as I see on Back D [1st octave thumb note] vibrato, only some of the numerous melody pipe designs would respond this way.
It doesn't get any better than this.
A great posting - The Merry Blacksmith is one of the best Irish tunes ever :-)

And the second one is The Merry Blacksmith. Good tunes, but definitely not the Humors of Ballyloughlin, which is a four part jig.
It's indeed the Merry Blacksmith
that's kitty gone a milking first. then the merry blacksmith.
