He breaks the G string , pulls it forward -- later they put in an edit on the close up of his solo --- ( because his cuff is light , whereas he's wearing a darker blue shirt in the performance )
one of the greatest songs ever. that's the song that first introduced me to Brady, probably in the late 70s, maybe early 80s. I was so impressed I eventually ordered 2 of his albums from overseas (his 'rock' stuff) and I was not disappointed at all, in fact they are still 2 of my favorite albums of all time ... but the best thing I ever had of his ear his album with Irish fiddler Andy McGann ... just Andy on fiddle and Paul on his amazing guitar ... I'm from Cape Breton and had grown up listening to and accomplishing fiddle tunes (more Scottish style but with a good helping of Irish as well,) but Paul's fiddle accompaniment guitar playing was a totally new style to me and changed the way I accompanied fiddle tunes from them on.
Unmistakable Paul Brady in his younger days. Wonderful voice, a lot of charisma and he knows well what he's doing and where he's heading. I love this performance, thanks to all who made it happen!
The fact that a string snapped at the start of this live and to look at the man you would not expect this talent would you? I met the legend with my dad lot of legends there that night what a gentleman what a genius sounds unbelievable live and Paul what a legend col from limerick 💯👍🎼❤️ your a gent
Many years ago a friend of my, a man called Phil Lynott brought me in to listen to Paul Brady music and to this very day I have not stopped listening to Pauls music since that time, he is a most brilliant singer and songwriter, I love his earlier folk stuff, the Homes of Donegall hits me each time to I hear it. I have also loved Willie and Mink DeVille from the very time I got to her their music and i was very lucky to haven got to see Willie and his Mink DeVille boys playing live in stage several times. I got the greatest shock when watch this video to see Willie Devill paying drums for Paul Brady, that made my day for sure
Really good version of "Crazy Dreams" - a reference track for me. Great group behind him. This is him finding his feet as a songwriter - and he stands very high by any standards. up Stabane!!.
Incredible song from a great album. Great backing band. Arty McGlynn (RIP) and Jimmy Faulkner(RIP) on guitars, Fran Breen on drums and not sure who's on keyboards. Paul's singing playing and songwriting in a league of its own. The album Hard Station, which contains this track, is a classic. I remember buying the vinyl , which I still have and it never left the turntable . It was a radical change for Paul but one that brought him international recognition at last with Tina Turner and Bonnie Raitt recording some if his songs. . A treasured talent . Thanks for posting
Great song - remember it well. A guy who should have been much more successful. A big favourite of Bob Dylan. And is that the late Arty McGlynn playing on acoustic guitar?
Remember hearing this song back in my first semester on the college radio station fall of 1980, still sounds beautiful and brought back some fond memories.
Great performance, I don't think ive heard him play the syncopated version he plays here (well Ive never noticed it). But surely it's two takes, I mean you can't replace a string mid song
He's playing a tiny theatre in Ratoath Co. Meath in April.... it's been postponed several times over two years because of Covid. Hope it goes ahead before one of us dies of old age!😄
A who's who of Irish rock music. Tom Moore, Arty and Jimmy deceased. Cannot put a name on the keyboard and drummer although recognise the faces. Am I right about Jimmy Faulkner. They all looked so young.
What a beautiful song tired of dreaming someone else’s dreams great lyrics in this song ❤ 💪💪💪💪
BRILLIANT SINGER I SAW HIM ONCE AT THE HUGHS ROOM IN TORONTO'S WEST END HE WAS SO GOOD, I LOVED IT?
😂
My brother sings this and you think it was Paul singing it himself amazing gone of my childhood songs 💚💚💚💚
String breaks at the very start. Carrys on. Legend
It's all lip synced anyway
@@darienhigh it’s not
I did not see the string break, been looking and looking.
@@Cristiano48239 It's easy to see -right during the intro before he starts singing his G string breaks and he pulls it forward .
He breaks the G string , pulls it forward -- later they put in an edit on the close up of his solo --- ( because his cuff is light , whereas he's wearing a darker blue shirt in the performance )
I love this what a great songwriter
Good Irish musician who you'd recognise his voice the moment he sings what a great artist 💯🇮🇪
And he managed to replace that broken string without ever missing a note. Amazing.
What a Tune 🔥 🍀🇮🇪
Love Paul Brady. “Arthur McBride” is played in my house a lot over Christmas
Same here

The good old days of talent first, image second. Would probably never get prime time TV these days. Great song. Great artist.
This is better than the studio recording absolutely nailed this
❤
Saw him last night , 74 years old , sounds the exact same, incredible singing range
So 76 now. Fuck. I don’t like all these people getting old.
What a throw back. I remember my Da had a cassette tape in the car with this on it.
amazing voice this man has

Am❤azing
Thanks for the info boss. Fair play.
This is awesome 👍👍👍😊 He does remind me a bit of Van Morrison 💗
You have got that correct.
The riff kind of reminds me of domino or something of His Band and Street Choir
I like his voice a lot more, and his character as well
Beautiful musician.
Great song - remember it well. A guy who should have been much more successful. A big favourite of Bob Dylan. And is that the late Arty McGlynn playing on acoustic guitar?
A favourite of Tina Turner's too who recorded his song Paradise is Here.
Yes, Arty McGlynn and Jimmy Faulkner on guitars
His version of Creole Girl is lovely.
Amazing ❤😊
Hes the only man from strafanistan can bleet 😢
Like it!, no love it😎
Remember hearing this song back in my first semester on the college radio station fall of 1980, still sounds beautiful and brought back some fond memories.
Love the Tyrone accent coming through.....❤
Hes a musicians musician.
great song.. as if written for Van Morrison. Brady sings it as well as he would.
Si, estaba pensando lo mismo, algunos finales de fraseo en la melodía de si voz me recordaba a Van Morrison
Paul was in lovely Laois at Forrest Fest recently….brilliant 😊😊😊😊😊
Fantastic song. Great performance. 1980? Never heard
All those years of nuss a great song
The definitive version has to be with Kenny Craddock, John Illsey and Liam Genockey. See Jools Holland.
Is this video anywhere without the large intro? I keep playing it. My favourite. ❤
Our finest son
Great performance, I don't think ive heard him play the syncopated version he plays here (well Ive never noticed it). But surely it's two takes, I mean you can't replace a string mid song
It's a great song for sure!
Kinda sounds like Richard Thompson.
They are probably friends?
Love it
Ticket booked for Limerick

You see him looking back at 04:57 saying " lads that wasn't too bad at all" 👍
A who's who of Irish rock music. Tom Moore, Arty and Jimmy deceased. Cannot put a name on the keyboard and drummer although recognise the faces. Am I right about Jimmy Faulkner. They all looked so young.
Wait how the f did he replace the string!!? Came here for yamaha nippon gakki acoustics and was pleasantly surprised to see the full band.
He didn't?
Revue sunglasses
Nice!
Every Bob Dylan must go Electric☘️☘️32
Should have been bigger and more successful - he did ok he has a song on Tina's Private Dancer album.
lyrics 👍👍👍👍
Great music . Couldn't go wrong with arty mcglynn .
😊
How odd to hear him playing in a rock band. Everybody's gotta make a living
The electric guitar prevented this becoming a hit
Speak out paul on then Giniside off Palestine sing
Still brilliant. Every word.
