- December 21st 1988 - I spent the evening for the first time (but not the last) in the newly opened Nighthawks diner. Further down the bar, Shay Healy chatted with a young man with wild hair and a nervous, preoccupied air. Then he invited him to sing. The young man agreed and when he opened his mouth, I heard a sound like nothing I’d ever experienced before.

Easily my 50th time listening to this. Only regret is i can only give 1 like

Aslan stayed true to themselves.they didn't let it go over their heads like other Irish bands.been listening to them over 35 years.they are a brilliant band .nothing will ever take that away from them .❤

I remember watching this on TV but it doesn't seem like it's over 34 years ago. Shay is no longer with us and Christy is very ill and receiving palliative care at the moment. He has a beautiful voice it's a shame that we are going to lose him very soon but he will have left us with some amazing memories thank you Christy

Did anyone else see Dignam and Goff play twice the same night ? They had a gig in Nancy Spains in Cork and they got a spot on the Late Late the same night. They didn't want to let anybody down so Gaybo put them on at the start of the show, then they legged it to Dublin airport and caught a plane to Cork. It was after 1am by the time they got to Barrack Street and the audience were tired and emotional ( i certainly was anyway) but a great night was had by all
