Christy Dignam is an incredible human being who has given his huge musical talent and energy to the people of Ireland in a most accessible way and he is hugely admired and loved by his own people the people of Dublin and Ireland. He is an amazing man of huge talent and humility and this song is one of the best songs that has ever come out of Ireland.

I’m going to get sentimental now. I came across this song many years ago now one late night on my way home in a taxi in Dublin. I had just recently moved my young family over to Ireland from Australia so they could to get to know their Great Uncle and cousins better. This song became (at the time) my 18 mth old daughter's regular bedtime song. I played this for her (15 now) just the the other night and she remembered me nursing her, half asleep, with her head on my chest both of us sitting on the lounge by the fireplace while the song played on in the background. A lovely memory for both of us to have.
This is a lovely live cover version by The Script with Christy. What an underrated band Aslan were/are in my opinion. He still has a great voice too.
I only heard this song on The Young Offenders program 18/08/22 and fookin what a singer / writer. This song is now the best I've heard and sang for many years....... It's all the sound

Obviously don't no ur age and I'd never ask a woman her age either, But I'm 46 and I got to know Christy a little bit like so many he had time for all his fans but I went to loads of there small gigs like the ones they did in Saint's out in Howth and he put the same energy into those gigs as he did the ones in vicar st or there New yrs eve concerts in the Point.. I had similar struggles as Chisty and I took so much inspiration from him so what I'm trying to say is he helped me and other's to get on track.. Now I don't say things like that lightly especially about singers it's real American but I make an exception for Chrsty.. He was the biggest battler I've ever known but still gave us his fans so much of his life.. It's mad I was watching the vicar street concert and reading some comments and people from other countries saying how they've never heard of this band and saying how good the frontman is.. Little do they no. It's a shame the rest of the world didn't get to know and see them but the good thing about that is he was ours.. A one off that we'll never see again last of a generation. Legend 👍☘

Christy had a sense of the theatrical as a frontman that you cannot teach. It just blossoms out of him as unique as his voice. He hits some sweet notes here btw. Rest in Peace, dear Christy.

I used to listen this over and over. It helped my depression. As a loner with no one to talk to, this song was the only therapy I had. Even now, whenever i feel too depressed to function I come here to listen. It sometimes tears me apart... but still comforts me way better than my doc.
Sometimes depression is so hard to explain. Songs like this articulate it perfectly.

This song has never been so poignant as it is during the Coronavirus. We elders are locked down while our children are out there on the front-line trying to help everybody> I am so proud of them, but my natural instinct is to try to protect them during this crazy crisis. So lovely to see how Danny truly reveres Christy.... it was lovely to watch them sing together, and the delight on Danny's face when he says "Come here" to Christy and hugs with with such affection..... magical.
