Season 2 is an underrated season, the conflict between Rick and Shane really made that season awesome and it's the season that caused Rick to evolve into a more ruthelss, calculating leader.
Season 2 is by far my favorite. Virtually no action, all interpersonal drama and character development. I do see though why those who watched it week by week like it less as I do imagine it was quite slow like that.
@@jermainehaslam5634 Yup. Imo TWD was at its best when it revolved around the interpersonal dynamics of the group and how people from completely different backgrounds would deal with the end of the world, rather than just action
@@jinxthesweet Not really. Just two. He talked about it at a panel. The only other reason was the desire to work on other projects. His departure had absolutely nothing to do with the decision to kill Carls caharacter
It's so incredible when you realize how mentally tough Carol is. She went from an abusive husband to the turmoil of losing her daughter, and then finally finding her dead. Only to later have to literally kill a child and that still didn't break her. She turned around and turned on the badass and saved everyone in the group. Such an amazing character! And I would say the strongest this show has to offer.
The episode with Beth and Daryl is sooo underrated. Especially Norman Reedus’ performance and if you want to look at it as a Daryl episode. The scene where he flips out on her for trying have fun when he’s never really had the opportunities that she had. Such a cold episode, but the hospital stuff still seems like such filler, but it’s sad tho, Beth was becoming a like-able, strong character.
I think season 11 is better then them as-well my only problem is shane was a great actor so its hard but the story is 100% better in season 11 then the first 2 seasons
The Walking Dead has one of, if not the best Main Character writing and overall dialog in a show ever. Every word has meaning towards it, and Rick is just so perfect. Andrew Lincoln IS Rick.
I agree for the most part. I think a lot of the dialogue is S7 and S8 was kind of goofy though. It was one of the best changes to S9, I remember being so relieved that the dialogue made sense while also maintaining that deeper meaning. I felt like 7 and 8 tried to be really symbolic and deep and some (not all) of it came across as confusing and unrealistic to how people actually talk. Again, I agree overall, I love the writing of TWD for the most part.
Thank you!!! The description is a bit lacking so was hoping someone commented this, thank you sir! Although it does look like youve mixed up s10 and s7, s7 being ranked 11 and 10 actually being 10, but its no big deal
1. Season 5-The focus on survival and a rapid pace through explosive plots, plus Rick, Carol and the rest of the group were at their best 2. Season 4-first half was a bit slow, but the conclusion of the Governor conflict and the exciting second half were some of the best parts of the show 3. Season 3-The Governor was such a complex villain, along with improved balance of action and characterization and the best season for deaths 4. Season 6-So many high highs with some of the best episodes and moments of the show, but too many dumb fake-outs holds it back from the top 3 5. Season 2-Slow, but one of the best casts and Shane’s building craziness in the second half was really interesting 6. Season 1-Awesome introduction and the directing by Frank Darabont adds so much atmosphere 7. Season 9-Great return to form with quick pacing and scary villains, but no Rick holds it back a little 8. Season 7-A bit underrated as there’s some nice character development and moments, but way too stretched out 9. Season 10-Negan was amazing, but the Whisperers became cartoons and the season was packed with filler 10. Season 8-Slightly improved in the second half, but incoherent action and muddled motivations ruined the war’s potential 11. Season 11-Hot take, but the season was super dull and the Reapers were pointless
The first half of S4 was slow, but in a really good way. S11 is so hated, yes the Repaers arc was so pointless but the Commonwealth was honestly the best Arc in the show.
I'd agree that 4 was still enjoyable, but the Commonwealth stuff was a mix of some exciting parts and some that were mostly dull filler. A lot of people liked it more than me though
No way those Governor episodes are literally my favourite episode in the entire series. I've rewatched those two plus Too far gone so many times Season 4 is number 1 by a landslides cause of 4A and those episodes. It adds alot to Too Far Gone showing us that even when he tried it didn't matter
I would love to see a fan edit of both season 7 and 8 episodes (which could be downloaded!) - condensing both seasons down to just the important stuff.
I remember when I heard the news about Rick leaving the show in season 9, but I was surprised when that season had the best trailer for both parts and ended up being the best season, at least IMO
I totally agree, whisperers got mega nerfed and less scary in season 10. I just dont buy Alpha would let Negan close to her, just because the comics did. Also, Beta did not kill a main character. Gamma doesn't really count. Yes, A Certain Doom was very much a let down. Could have been such a great horror ep.
They should of had that negan n beta fight among the walkers and beta gets the upper hand then Daryl comes out of nowhere and starts fighting him n he gets the upper hand on him then negan n Daryl both look at each other n gotta work together to take out beta then have him killed the way they did on the show
Nah, it makes sense. Negan is just that guy. That's the point, that's why Carol let him out. She knew he'd be the only mf to get on the Inside of The Whisperers.
@@Cam_DePasquali I just don't think it makes sense. He walks into the whisperer camp, makes a mockery of them all, and Alpha is cool with it? When anyone else who spoke out of line was killed? It was clearly just to follow the comics, and didn't really make sense.
@@BenRai2k Fair, but Alpha did like him because of it.. also, he made really good points and honestly was the only person who could make a better plan than Alpha.
I’ve never disagreed with a ranking more. For me seasons 1 & 2 are the best by far, with season 1 being the greatest season of tv I’ve ever watched. The atmosphere and character work feels much more consistent and cinematic compared to other seasons, clearly due to Frank Darabont
THANK YOU for acknowledging that, yes, season 2 isn't action heavy and the most adrenaline fuelled season, it is a lot of characters talking and drama, but it's REALLY GOOD drama! I'd be curious to know how many people that dislike season 2 watch GOT because to me GOT is a lot of character driven drama too, once you remove the fantasy elements, gruesome deaths and nudity 😂. I know it's a different world, but TWD and GOT were the GOATED shows in the 2010's, the early 2010's at least, and I find it so bizarre how GOT was SO popular because of the focus on human stories in a fantasy world that didn't have the budget for crazy big battles every episode or even every season, they'd save up for one explosive epic moment and the rest would be building up to that was character development, drama, dialogue and politics, which is EXACTLY what season 2 does! But because it's "a zombie show" some people just get bored if there's not a zombie on screen every 10 minutes. Season 2 isn't perfect sure and it does drag a bit especially in the first half but it has the richest character and story work in the show imo, and the last 3 episodes are absolutely fire!
Even though I don’t mostly agree with you list, I still love your content! I love that people like you still talk and care about the walking dead. Keep up the good work 👍
Great video. Very similar list.....season 6 is my favourite too. I loved that you had the music from each season playing in the background. Beautiful 💛 😊
11. Season 8 10. Season 7 09. Season 1 08. Season 4 07. Season 10 06. Season 3 05. Season 11 04. Season 2 03. Season 5 02. Season 9 01. Season 6 Season 11, I've only watched once in full. Upon a rewatch, it could go up or down. The Series Finale made it edge out season three.
@Nathaniel Titan The Whispers brought the horror element back into the show. Some memorable episodes. The beginning of the Negan redemption arch. Handling of Rick leaving the show, at least until the series finale.
Seasons 10B, 10C, and 11 had the misfortune of being subject to filming restrictions due to COVID as some reshoots in 10B couldn’t be done and 10C was filmed in the height of lockdowns and restrictions. In my opinion season 11 suffers from the same complications that season 7 had with too many solo episodes and too many plots.
I’ve seen loads of times that one of the reasons they killed Carl was to have rick to show mercy and save negan which doesn’t make sense cuz in the comics they still save negan without having Carl die
It didn't work that well in the comics though because you didn't fully understand why Rick decided to keep him alive in that moment. It just kind of came out of no where without much build up. You understood afterwards but I think seeing the development of Rick's character in Season 8 lead to keeping Negan alive was more powerful
I like your list! We somewhat agree. This is mine. 11: Season 1 *Good, but only 6 episodes.* 10: Season 3 *Not my season.* 9: Season 7 *Maybe better quality than season 8, but much slower pace.* 8: Season 2 *It's good.* 7: Season 8 *Good pace, but could have been better.* 6: Season 10 *Very good, but again, could have been better.* 5: Season 11 *Good; but again you know...* 4: Season 5 *Overrated, still good though.* 3: Season 4 *Underrated.* 2: Season 9 *Amazing, it really is almost perfect.* 1: Season 6 *Peak of the show.*
i LOVE your ranking videos! you always have such insightful things to say. i stopped watching the walking dead after season 7...however, this video makes me want to rewatch the whole series!!!!
You forgot the whisperer that stabbed Beatrice from Oceanside in the leg when she was camouflaged in a herd. She screamed in pain causing the walkers to kill her
So disappointing that beta killed no one major. Also I think Henry should've died in 10x08. It took away from Tara and Enid's deaths. No one cared about Tara's death even though she's been with the group since the 2nd half of season 4.
That would've been perfect actually. Beta killing Henry in 10x8 maybe which leads to Lydia becoming enraged towards the whisperers and the battle of 10x11 could be the first time she kills other whisperers (just like the comics).
@@MovieFusion I feel differently on this I think maybe you wait to kill Tara there instead, because if you wait to kill Henry then you get rid of the Negan and Lydia relationship as well as getting rid of the much better written excuse for Negan's escape. Overall waiting on Henry's death effects Negan's storyline way to much to work in my mind
I think season 6, 9, & 5 are my top 3. Just fire. 🔥 I really enjoyed season 2 a lot too, the simplicity of people learning to adapt and survive together in the apocalypse was incredible, also something like the Randall conflict seemed so intense and crazy at the time, which obviously wouldn’t work too well in later seasons. I really enjoyed season 2 man, it’s really nostalgic, and it’s the season that really made me fall in love w the series.
Totally agree with what you said about season 2!! I’ve always loved the struggle between the mind set of, do we stay who we were and keep that humanity? Or do we just have to adapt and risk becoming like Shane? It’s probably the season I’ve watched the most and I really love it and the farm is so nostalgic too. Imo season 2 is in my top 3 seasons of the show bring my second favourite season
@@tguncreations0403 yeah idk if I have it that high but it’s up there for me, it’s fantastic stuff, it’s like so nostalgic and the simplicity of it was so beautifully written. It’s like the conflicts seemed real and believable, them living on Hershel’s farm, everything about it was just so incredible! It’s remarkable stuff and truly one of my fav seasons, and I’ll always love going back and rewatching it.
If im correct here are the whisperer kill counts: Unknown whisperers kills: Jesus & Oscar Dante: Siddiq Beta: Laura, alfred Alpha: the pikes I think thats it
1. Season 9 (perfect, from acting, dialogue, big moments, big deaths, character development, tensions, everything is perfect) 2. Season 8 (if you get over Carl's death, it's the most shocking death on TV of all time, lots of action, enough dialogue and emotions) 3. Season 6 (it's one of the best seasons and a lot of fans know why, didn't mind the cliffhanger also) 4. Season 10 (loved the zombie action, the Hilltop battle was epic, Negan's redemption arc drove this season, lot of stuff to love about this season) 5. Season 4 (slightly above 11 just cause Rick is here) 6. Season 11 (The final 8 episode especially the series finale are why this season is this high, it has a lot of parralels and references of moments from the entire show, this season hasn't lost Angela's touch from the previous two seasons, the series finale is perfection) 7. Season 7 (starts off strong with my favorite episode of the show, didn't mind the long episodes, they flew fast when you enjoy them, Negan carried the season, he's the shows best villain, all the characters shine and I really loved the closing moments of the season) 8. Season 5 (great premiere, big bloody action, big deaths, bit there were a lot of slow moments and filler episodes, I love every season, but this one is slow) 9. Season 3 (slightly above 2 just cause of few big deaths, not a big fan of the ending, but kind of works to some degree, a lot of episodes took a lot to get to the point, but love the introduction of a lot of big characters and etc) 10. Season 2 (the first part is slow, but it perfectly sets up the 2nd more exciting part that offers A LOT) 11. Season 1 (the best thing with zombies, the pilot is memorable and legendary, iconic, but it's just too short) Great ranking btw 👍
Id say my Ranking is: 1- S2 - beautiful dialogue, acting, atmosphere, made me fall in love with the show 2- S6 - after kinda getting bored with season 5 (as much as i love it) this season revitalized my love. 6B was banger after banger 3- S4 - when the acting and dialogue really took off 4- S1 - loved how real it felt, though more of a direct adaptation, loved ir 5- S3 - the vibes, the music, the world building 6- S5 - other than the hospital arc, so fantastic 7- S7 - upon rewatches i really like it, some bland af episodes but when it hit, it hit 8- S9 - lowered over time but so far from terrible 9- S11 - kinda disappointed but the worst i can say about this season is that sole episode were ok, solid solid final episode 10- S8 - overhated, some decisions pissed me off but again, didnt hate it, some solid moments 11- if 10B didnt exist i really wouldnt like it, 10A was so mid, 10C was ok minus 2-3 episodes, the uhderusing of characters like Alden Earl Gabriel and Aaron was very disappointing
Season 6 is overrated cause the first half is literally the worst walking dead content. Atleast it was for me on my recent rewatch of the entire series. The entire plot was just non sense with the herd. Im just sitting here with my hands in the air the whole time like "What are you guys doing?!?!?" LOL but the last half of Season 6 was when the bangers came out
1. 3 - Best villain, some really big deaths, definitely the peak of the show. 2. 4 - Death of the Governor, introduces Abrahams group, Lizzie and Mika death. Another great season . 3. 2 - The Sophia section drags it down a little but overall I enjoy this season and the last episode is one of my favourites. 4. 1 - The start of it all, introduced to the main cast and I love that scene of Merle's hand on the rooftop. 5. 6 - Great season, lots of action throughout. 6. 9 - Pretty good actually and Rick's last episode is probably the best in the whole show for me. 7. 11 - Some good parts, some bad parts. It's alright. 8. 10 - Pretty forgettable honestly. 9. 5 - Very overrated, first episode was good but the termites were killed off quickly afterwards and are rather underwhelming villains followed by the boring hospital section which ends in Beth's death so there was no point to any of it and Tyreese's death one episode later which also felt rushed. The Alexandria part is good but the rest is pretty bad. 10. 7 - Really boring and slow season where not much happened. 11. 8 - Awful writing. Brought back Morales just to kill him immediately, then killed off Carl and made him a voice of reason for some reason even though that goes completely against his character. Daryl betrays Rick repeatedly, yikes.
While I disagree with a lot of these, you really explained your opinion well. I agree with your reasonings, and maybe I'm in denial for the rest. It's a shame the show didn't stay consistently outstanding such as some other shows so we could all agree on these rankings much easier. Regardless, I've loved watching it through the years and its one of my all time favourite shows.
Walking dead Season Rankings 1. Season 5 fantastic just absolutely goated!!!! 2. Season 4 loved the governor arc and when everyone was separated and it actually felt like an apocalypse 3. Season 3 I loved the prison arc 4. Season 6 some of the best zombie action!! 5. Season 2 love the drama between the characters 6. Season 1 so iconic 7. Season 11 loved the villains in 11 A and the ending was awesome 8. Season 9 Ricks send off was good and the snow episode was awesome 9. Season 10 it’s decent 10. Season 7 has a few good moments 11. Season 8 dog shit absolutely whack has some of the worst action I’ve ever seen. Feels stretched as hell and bringing back morales for no reason just to kill him was a big F U to the fans. Also killing the character you have been building up to be the future lead of the show once Rick left was absolutely stupid!!!!
I like that they fleshed out the depression of s7. It would have been quite bad if everyone wanted to rise up instantly. It makes sense that some were willing to push on and some others fell to their knees and accepted the new life. If things were to wrap up any sooner than the half of the season it would feel rushed. We also saw different perspectives from Sanctuary to Hilltop to Kingdom to Alexandria. The second half was building up to the war and again it would have been rushed if the war began instantly after the second half started.
My Ranking (Not Including Seasons 10 or 11, due to the fact I'm on Season 10 Episode 3) 9. Season 5 8. Season 3 7. Season 4 6. Season 8 5. Season 7 4. Season 1 3. Season 9 2. Season 2 1. Season 6
Beatrice got stabbed by an unknown whisper. In a certain doom whispers got a few kills with spears and that bomb thing they used to blow up the archers in the choke point
My favourite for some reason, having in mind all the seasons and the overall plot(not the comics) is season 6. From the changes happening to Rick, his flashbacks to season 5 savage Rick, his emotions and feeling of love coming back and then getting ruined by Negan, It's just the closest to my heart. Followed second by probably season 5, just cause of the group that was left then, and the whole on the road plot.
The Carl take was wild in my opinion. Rick junior has like no character in the show which is fine since he’s a baby basically, but acting like Judith and him can fill carls roll was wild
Fun Fact as of the final season Rosita is tied with Carl as the longest surviving character who died. 1st Rosita- 8 Seasons 2nd Carl- 8 Seasons 3rd Glenn- 7 Seasons 4th Tara- 6 seasons
underrated list. i agree with season 7 being the lowest, was the lowest point in the series for all the survivors. season 4, 6, and 2 will always be my favorite seasons
I do agree with season 9 and 6 placements. I think in 9 they knew with Rick gone they needed to pull off a way to keep the viewers continue watching. And they did a great job.
Season 11 is #1 tbh The last 9 or 10 episodes and the finale itself are just too good Memorable moments for me were Negans introduction and his whole season (I think that was 7 because iirc he was introduced at the season 6 finale), the guvnor, and of course the first two seasons. Whisperers with Alpha and Beta as well was pretty memorable
A lot of the action in 11C felt kind of empty, all those gun shots, but we knew no one would die. I feel like more could have been done with the whole train/labour camp thing too. A real train chase/train heist would have been good. Season 11A should have focused on variants, the devolved cannibals and the reapers should have just been masked crazy Satanists trying to kidnap people for blood sacrifices or something. The cannibals and Satanist nut jobs would need no humanising - just a stark contrast as to why the commonwealth and trying to make it work was so important.
They should have done a huge green screen behind the trains in commonwealth in the main centre showing roads going down maybe even a longer extra main rd section or businesses or show a hospital in the background and show lots of residential houses in the background up higher on kind of a hill. They could have made it feel huge and like the set kept going by using some really simple tricks. Even if they painted a screen really well lol. And it would be background so it would look good unlike trash Rick screen. Using more of those establishing shots, showing the “outside” of buildings. Showing them driving through a residential area. They could of added just a few more locations for quick shots. Like even use some existing amc sets at studios and do some slight editing. I wish we saw the gated community earlier for example. What we got in the finale shot wise should have been the standard and then go even bigger for the finale but it felt like coz they were lazy with it they purposely held off on showing us this till the finale to give a bang. Like yes covid, but now is the time to use effects even in dark lighting if you have to etc to make it look bigger and like there’s more people. As for setbacks financially, I’m sure they could have used connections to call in favours or brung things from home or even used crew for background characters etc to help it out. For the final season … I was a little disappointed too when in the finale the only shot of citizens struggling with the horde breaking in was a few people at the gates. Honestly, seeing people inside desperately trying to be quiet etc would have been great. I was truly expecting to see a situation where these helpless people had to face lockdown conditions and then went through hell because these smarter zombies did stuff like punch through walls maybe or open doors and climb and hunt almost etc. i don’t mean I wanted lots of death, but I did want that one time where it would have felt like the initial outbreak to come back, because it would have felt like a call way to seem like yet again zombies are wreaking havoc on society. I AM SOOOOO disappointed and upset too that we didn’t get way more cool variant stuff. It had the chance to make everything feel super fun and scary. And in the finale, we basically don’t see the cast have to deal with it at all except for seeing them quickly climb. I wanted to see them all escaping and having doors open etc and all that. I know, time. But they could of extended the episode a bit more or added extensions to other episodes in C and actually shown more action with it before the finale too. I just think there were so many work arounds they could have made but they also blew their budget on sequences we didn’t care much for in A. The set of arrows shooting altogether thing didn’t impress me too much Because It felt almost unrealistic and it was confirmed by an expert to be ridiculous and it obviously took up so much budget. I would have sooner rathered some other fun method I think if it meant more budget for other areas of the show. Also I’m sorry but the zombies cgi can be really weak in groups and I’m also not sure if anyone else has noticed how bad some of the makeup has turned recently with them opting for masks that end up making the heads look like they are wearing masks and they all look the same and well, repeated mask use etc. like you can see often bad hand makeup that doesn’t match up too. I think what made zombies with even light makeup look scarier in earlier seasons was that they could look so many different ways based on the individuals face and their features. It looked more like a human zombie we expect that is way more unnerving. Weirdly they looked more dead and scary than the super decayed ones that are basically skeletons. I do love those ones, I just wish there was more variation and less mask use and same outfits and hair etc. i think it doesn’t feel scary the same way skeletons don’t scare us because they are so decayed they are almost dry and not gross anymore and look like they could be anyone so its less familiar and uncanny valley ina. Way that unnerves us. I think a recent corpse, even if pretty decayed is scarier than a barely recognisable one. Maybe these are hot takes and people won’t agree, but it’s just my feeling and theory based on being a life long zombie lover that developed it out of total fear of them as a kid haha!!
#11. Season 8 #10. Season 7 #09. Season 11 #08. Season 10 #07. Season 6 #06. Season 4 #05. Season 3 #04. Season 9 #03. Season 5 #02. Season 2 #1. Season 1
What makes Glenn and abe dying at the premiere of season 7 really impactful was we didn't have anyone from our group die in season 6 as the only deaths were Nickolas, Deana, and the Anderson family and then some Savior's so the last character to die from our group was noah and he wasn't that big of a character so before that was Tyreese and beth at mid season 5 so our characters getting big wins by defeating the wolves and the big hourd in no way out to defeating the saviours in episode 12 of season 6 with no main character deaths really made our group look powerful to just have it taken away at the end of season 6 and season 7 premiere
Awesome Video My Ranking 1. Season 9- A+ 2. Season 3- A 3. Season 4- A 4. Season 8- A- 5. Season 6- A- 6. Season 11- A- 7. Season 2- A- 8. Season 1- B+ 9. Season 7- B+ 10. Season 5- B+ 11. Season 10- B-
Season 2 is so underrated. It isn't my favourite however it always gets rated low because of its pacing. We were introduced to. Maggie,Hershel and Beth. Shane's ark was fantastic. It was the beginning of the Ricktatorship. The Nabraska episode and the bar fight. Sophias reveal. Daryl and carols friendship began Daryl was beginning to become a better man. Season finale was great. The list could go on.

Darabont is certainly the best director to ever work on this show, but that doesn't mean I have to think his season is the best or close to it. It's short and doesn't compare to the amount of emotion and character work later seasons do. It's just a very standard zombie show in season 1. I'm sure he would've done great things in later seasons but we never got to see his vision fully played out.
Here's My Ranking: 11. Season 7 10. Season 8 9. Season 11 8. Season 1 7. Season 2 6. Season 10 5. Season 9 4. Season 6 3. Season 3 2. Season 4 1. Season 5

Seasons 1-5 we’re the best times of the walking dead in it’s prime period . Season 5 hit its top peak with getting almost 18 million a week tuned in viewers on live tv . After that season was when the show declined way before Glenn & Carl died for even more people to leave. The major character deaths and the dumb way how they get killed off pissed people off to just stop watching and the writing has got way worse . Yeah every now and then in the later seasons character development gets built but doesn’t matter with how the stories are told and the lack of action and zombie killing were not getting and that the show dies t feel like the walking dead anymore with the horror feel we kinda got on a way towards the beginning and a way better entertaining cast from those first 5 seasons. Just overtime stuff would just drag for so long where it just became a circle with the same repeated stuff . I will say ever since Rick left negans redemption ark has been the only really best thing the shows had throughout the rest of the show
11. Season 7 10. Season 8 9. Season 1 8. Season 2 7. Season 10 6. Season 5 5. Season 3 4. Season 11 3. Season 6 2. Season 4 1. Season 9 Just my opinion, but while seasons 10 and 11 are by no means the best. I feel like a lot of people are underrating them. I agree about season 11’s finale bumping it up in rankings. For season 11, I dont think I remember you mentioning 11x16 (which to me is a top 25 episode along with 11x9) that had a nice fight between Maggie and Leah. For me, 11x24 is a top 10 episode. I wouldn’t have it above 9x5, 6x9, 7x1, or 4x8. But after those, I think a legitimate argument can be made for the 5th spot. Probably my favorite TWD season finale.
Glenn and Abrahams death for many was the death of the show but for me revitalized it, Negan by far is the best character to come into the later show. The show couldve gone alot better without the whispers
My very humble ranking from worst to best : Season 7 Season 8 Season 10 Season 5 Season 9 Season 6 Season 1 Season 11 Season 2 Season 3 Season 4 Let me know what you think
Didn't like anything after Rick's departure until the ending tbh. But my favorite seasons are: Season 4 > Season 6 > Season 3 > Season 5 > Season 2 > Season 1 > Season 8 > Season 7 > Season 9 > The rest. Hated season 10 and 11. They both dragged on too long and didn't feel important. I could skip every episode after Rick's departure until the very end of the show and not feel like I missed much. Hyped for the Rick spinoff, though. Not so much about Dead City or Daryl's tbh.
I really appreciate how in depth you went with this! I personally have season 7 pretty close to the top of my list though.. Season 8 is the only season I don't really like
S4 Peak S3 Almost Peak S1 Started it all amazingly S2 Very good S5 Not as good as 4 but rick had amazing development S6 Don't remember tbh probably good S7 Loved Negan S11 Better than 9,8,10 S8 Okay S9 Okay S10 Lol it's ight
Season 7 could’ve been up there as one of the best if it was more comic accurate and had better pacing. Condense it all in the first half. Episode 2 could cover the kingdom and Daryl’s storyline. Episode 3 would start off with Rick and gang getting to hilltop then back at Alexandria when negan pulls up and ends with Carl sneaking on negans truck. 4 would be sing me a song entirely . 5 would be hilltop and group going to kingdom to meet Ezekiel. Episode 6 would be the midseason finale but would end on cliffhanger when Rosita shoots negans bat. Episode 7 would continue then everything that happened in the 7 finale besides the Sasha storyline and focus on aftermath. Episode 8 would be the season 8 premier
Almost the exact same ranking we have. 1. Season 6 2. Season 4 3. Season 9 4. Season 5 5. Season 3 6. Season 2 7. Season 11 8. Season 8 9. Season 1 10. Season 10 11. Season 7
11. 7 10. 8 9. 10 8. 2 7. 11 6. 6 5. 9 4. 4 3. 1 2. 5 1. 3 I have only watch season 11 once so this ranking may change or vary on rewatches. Season 1, 3 & 5 for me are just peak walking dead
I’ve never understood why people love season 9 so much, I just haven’t found myself enjoying it that much, I don’t know if it’s because of how fast I watched the show up until season 9 resulting in me being warn out or bored of the show, I did take a break from the show during season 9 so I’ll have to rewatch it and see if my mind changes, I hope I enjoy it on rewatch and I have faith that I will
It would have been very easy for Carl to convince Rick to keep Negan alive when the time came but killing off Carl was the dumbest decision the show ever made and the way he died made it even worse
I think S7 would’ve been too 3 for everyone if they’d structured it similar to 4b where they fit the groups into the same episode vs doing one episode for each story
My ranking would be Season 8 (0/10) Season 7 (1/10) Season 9 (4/10) Season 4 (7/10) Season 3 (7,5/10) Season 10 (7,5/10) Season 1 (8/10) Season 11 (8/10) Season 6 (8,5/10) Season 5 (9/10) Season 2 (9,5/10)
I wasn't even aware of the criticism towards season 3 until recently, everyone always says they love the Prison era and the season was when the show got REALLY popular and is goated so it really surprised me when I saw people trashing it and putting it low in ranking. It never made sense to me. Like sure the Woodbury storyline isn't for everyone and people hate what they did to Andrea, but the Governor is such an AMAZING villain and the Prison storyline is SO strong with many characters at their best up to that point! The characters were such badass survivors and everything just doubled down on the character work from season 2, with some many iconic and emotional dramatic moments like Hershel getting bit and having his leg cut off, Lori's death and Carl putting her down, Rick's reaction, Michonne fighting the Governor, Daryl and Merle etc, and a plethora of well written character moments that really make them feel like a family. Also epic episodes like Seed, Sick, Killer Within, Made to Suffer, Home, Clear and This Sorrowful Life, and I also love the other episodes apart from I Aint A Judas and Prey which are a bit weak. It's probably my favourite season, if not then 4, and yeah 5 and 2 are amazing too but just not as much imo

Season 2 is an underrated season, the conflict between Rick and Shane really made that season awesome and it's the season that caused Rick to evolve into a more ruthelss, calculating leader.
Agreed, very poetic season as well with regarding Shane’s downfall
Season 2 is by far my favorite. Virtually no action, all interpersonal drama and character development. I do see though why those who watched it week by week like it less as I do imagine it was quite slow like that.
Season 2 will always be my favorite
@@andrewmaclean9810 We got to see human drama taking place in an apocalyptic world and that's what made that season resonate.
@@jermainehaslam5634 Yup. Imo TWD was at its best when it revolved around the interpersonal dynamics of the group and how people from completely different backgrounds would deal with the end of the world, rather than just action
Fun fact: Rick is in less episodes than Rosita. Rick is in 125 and Rosita is in 129
That is insane
She was also the character in the most episodes of season 7, above rick
Wow
Fun fact me and Rosita are in love
Kinda. Thats what they are credited for. In reality rick is in 103ish and rosita is 93ish
I do agree with that Carl’s death was done good but I think him being alive would have benefited the show more especially after Andrew’s departure.
Andrew only left bc of carls death I’m pretty sure
@@jinxthesweet False. He left to be with his family back in London.
@@Vyrxs- I think it was a multitude of reasons

Season 11 above season 1 & 2 is kinda crazy

1. Season 5-The focus on survival and a rapid pace through explosive plots, plus Rick, Carol and the rest of the group were at their best
2. Season 4-first half was a bit slow, but the conclusion of the Governor conflict and the exciting second half were some of the best parts of the show
3. Season 3-The Governor was such a complex villain, along with improved balance of action and characterization and the best season for deaths
4. Season 6-So many high highs with some of the best episodes and moments of the show, but too many dumb fake-outs holds it back from the top 3
5. Season 2-Slow, but one of the best casts and Shane’s building craziness in the second half was really interesting
6. Season 1-Awesome introduction and the directing by Frank Darabont adds so much atmosphere
7. Season 9-Great return to form with quick pacing and scary villains, but no Rick holds it back a little
8. Season 7-A bit underrated as there’s some nice character development and moments, but way too stretched out
9. Season 10-Negan was amazing, but the Whisperers became cartoons and the season was packed with filler
10. Season 8-Slightly improved in the second half, but incoherent action and muddled motivations ruined the war’s potential
A lot of people liked it more than me though
put season 9 higher, put season 7 lower. Everything else i agree with
That’s a good list agree with a lot of
No way those Governor episodes are literally my favourite episode in the entire series. I've rewatched those two plus Too far gone so many times
Season 4 is number 1 by a landslides cause of 4A and those episodes. It adds alot to Too Far Gone showing us that even when he tried it didn't matter
I actually don't love season 4 that much but the Governor episodes were amazing, I can't believe so many people dislike them.
I hated the governor feel like that was when it started getting boring
Season 4 definitely isn't the number 1, but I definitely liked it.
I would love to see a fan edit of both season 7 and 8 episodes (which could be downloaded!) - condensing both seasons down to just the important stuff.
Literally ! I tried searching for an edit on RUclips but couldn’t find anything. If someone does this, please respond to these comments! Thanks
They should of had that negan n beta fight among the walkers and beta gets the upper hand then Daryl comes out of nowhere and starts fighting him n he gets the upper hand on him then negan n Daryl both look at each other n gotta work together to take out beta then have him killed the way they did on the show
Also beta was the one that didn't wanna fight or have a fight scene at all he was the one that made that decision to die that fast n quickly
Shane beating Ed is one of my favorite scenes in walking dead

I’ve seen loads of times that one of the reasons they killed Carl was to have rick to show mercy and save negan which doesn’t make sense cuz in the comics they still save negan without having Carl die
It didn't work that well in the comics though because you didn't fully understand why Rick decided to keep him alive in that moment. It just kind of came out of no where without much build up. You understood afterwards but I think seeing the development of Rick's character in Season 8 lead to keeping Negan alive was more powerful

i LOVE your ranking videos! you always have such insightful things to say. i stopped watching the walking dead after season 7...however, this video makes me want to rewatch the whole series!!!!
Overall waiting on Henry's death effects Negan's storyline way to much to work in my mind
this is one of if not the worst ranking of the seasons i’ve ever seen 😭😭
I think season 6, 9, & 5 are my top 3.
Just fire. 🔥 I really enjoyed season 2 a lot too, the simplicity of people learning to adapt and survive together in the apocalypse was incredible, also something like the Randall conflict seemed so intense and crazy at the time, which obviously wouldn’t work too well in later seasons. I really enjoyed season 2 man, it’s really nostalgic, and it’s the season that really made me fall in love w the series.
Season 2 built the foundation for the next 4 seasons of TWD
Totally agree with what you said about season 2!! I’ve always loved the struggle between the mind set of, do we stay who we were and keep that humanity? Or do we just have to adapt and risk becoming like Shane? It’s probably the season I’ve watched the most and I really love it and the farm is so nostalgic too. Imo season 2 is in my top 3 seasons of the show bring my second favourite season
@@tguncreations0403 yeah idk if I have it that high but it’s up there for me, it’s fantastic stuff, it’s like so nostalgic and the simplicity of it was so beautifully written. 2. Season 8 (if you get over Carl's death, it's the most shocking death on TV of all time, lots of action, enough dialogue and emotions)
3. Season 6 (it's one of the best seasons and a lot of fans know why, didn't mind the cliffhanger also)
4. Season 10 (loved the zombie action, the Hilltop battle was epic, Negan's redemption arc drove this season, lot of stuff to love about this season)
5. Season 4 (slightly above 11 just cause Rick is here)
6. Season 11 (The final 8 episode especially the series finale are why this season is this high, it has a lot of parralels and references of moments from the entire show, this season hasn't lost Angela's touch from the previous two seasons, the series finale is perfection)
7. Season 7 (starts off strong with my favorite episode of the show, didn't mind the long episodes, they flew fast when you enjoy them, Negan carried the season, he's the shows best villain, all the characters shine and I really loved the closing moments of the season)
8. Season 5 (great premiere, big bloody action, big deaths, bit there were a lot of slow moments and filler episodes, I love every season, but this one is slow)
9. Season 3 (slightly above 2 just cause of few big deaths, not a big fan of the ending, but kind of works to some degree, a lot of episodes took a lot to get to the point, but love the introduction of a lot of big characters and etc)
10. Season 2 (the first part is slow, but it perfectly sets up the 2nd more exciting part that offers A LOT)
11. Season 1 (the best thing with zombies, the pilot is memorable and legendary, iconic, but it's just too short)

8- S9 - lowered over time but so far from terrible
9- S11 - kinda disappointed but the worst i can say about this season is that sole episode were ok, solid solid final episode
10- S8 - overhated, some decisions pissed me off but again, didnt hate it, some solid moments
11- if 10B didnt exist i really wouldnt like it, 10A was so mid, 10C was ok minus 2-3 episodes, the uhderusing of characters like Alden Earl Gabriel and Aaron was very disappointing

7. 11 - Some good parts, some bad parts.

Bro no. Morgan dying instead of Carl would’ve done the exact same thing to Rick. You being a comic reader would know how important Carl is.

And they did a great job.
My ranking:
1. Season 5
2. Season 3
3. Season 4
4. Season 9
5. Season 6
6. Season 2
7. Season 1
8. Season 11
9. Season 10
10. Season 7
11. Season 8
Season 11 is #1 tbh
The last 9 or 10 episodes and the finale itself are just too good
Memorable moments for me were Negans introduction and his whole season (I think that was 7 because iirc he was introduced at the season 6 finale), the guvnor, and of course the first two seasons. Whisperers with Alpha and Beta as well was pretty memorable
The first 4 or 5 seasons are my favorite im surprised season 1 and 2 are so low
Nah killing Carl was the wrong move

Amazing list dan. I personally would put season 2 higher but thats just me.

Fun Fact:TWD Season One Was Short Since The Budget Was So High That AMC Was Forced To Shorten The Season
Wow I disagree with the spot of season 1
Season 1 is magical
How that was directed was unbelievable
season 1 was boring though
Mouth dropped when I seen season 8 drop. I remember u defended this szn with your life 😂
It's not that I like the season that much less since before, it's more than I like the other seasons even more since then lol
You’re not alone with the dislike for S10, it’s one of my least faves as well tbh
Love to see the love for season 6, my favorite too!
Season 2 is so underrated. It isn't my favourite however it always gets rated low because of its pacing.
We were introduced to. Maggie,Hershel and Beth.
Shane's ark was fantastic.
It was the beginning of the
Ricktatorship.
The Nabraska episode and the bar fight.
Sophias reveal.
Daryl and carols friendship began
Daryl was beginning to become a better man.
Season finale was great.
The list could go on.
And the Dale morality part, really interesting imo

so you have the only season that was directed by the man who did Shawshank Redemption in the 9th spot. it's your list, but this is insane.

Just my opinion, but while seasons 10 and 11 are by no means the best.
My very humble ranking from worst to best :
Season 7
Season 8
Season 10
Season 5
Season 9
Season 6
Season 1
Season 11
Season 2
Season 3
Season 4
Let me know what you think
Didn't like anything after Rick's departure until the ending tbh.
But my favorite seasons are:
Season 4 > Season 6 > Season 3 > Season 5 > Season 2 > Season 1 > Season 8 > Season 7 > Season 9 > The rest. Hated season 10 and 11. They both dragged on too long and didn't feel important. I could skip every episode after Rick's departure until the very end of the show and not feel like I missed much. Hyped for the Rick spinoff, though. Not so much about Dead City or Daryl's tbh.
The only correct ranking:
S tier: Season 1-3
A tier: Season 4-5
B tier: Season 6 & 9
C tier: Season 7
D tier Season 8
F tier: Season 10 & 11
I really appreciate how in depth you went with this!
I personally have season 7 pretty close to the top of my list though..
Season 8 is the only season I don't really like
Oscar gets killed by a whisperer in episode 16 of season 10, but yeah I get your point
Oh yeah but that was kind of like in the background and wasn't a known character. I did forget about it
S4 Peak
S3 Almost Peak
S1 Started it all amazingly
S2 Very good
S5 Not as good as 4 but rick had amazing development
S6 Don't remember tbh probably good
S7 Loved Negan
S11 Better than 9,8,10
S8 Okay
S9 Okay
S10 Lol it's ight
Season 7 could’ve been up there as one of the best if it was more comic accurate and had better pacing. Condense it all in the first half. Episode 2 could cover the kingdom and Daryl’s storyline. Episode 3 would start off with Rick and gang getting to hilltop then back at Alexandria when negan pulls up and ends with Carl sneaking on negans truck. 4 would be sing me a song entirely .
5 would be hilltop and group going to kingdom to meet Ezekiel. Episode 6
would be the midseason finale but would end on cliffhanger when Rosita shoots negans bat. Episode 7 would continue then everything that happened in the 7 finale besides the Sasha storyline and focus on aftermath.
Episode 8 would be the season 8 premier

I have only watch season 11 once so this ranking may change or vary on rewatches.
Season 1, 3 & 5 for me are just peak walking dead
9 needs to be higher, 1 needs to be lower, and 2 needs to be a little higher
My rankings

Season 2 (9,5/10)
The walking dead is the best show I have ever watched
Whisperers introduction was the best ever in the show hands down
