  • For the last 3 years we have been trying to do this damn protest. There was no way I was cancelling again! However we could only stay out in the storm, because of course its a storm and not just rain, for 25 minutes. But we were there...
Thank you to everyone who showed up and to those who were on the way down to the airport during the torrential downpour.

I wonder if exploiting people's speciesism to promote animal rights could backfire

@@NaturallyImperfectVegan People feel differently about horses than they do about other (so called) food animals. That's an expression of the public's speciesism. I suspect this protest recognizes and attempts to exploit that. The feeling might be that it is easier to move the public on this specific issue of horses being shipped out of the airport. My concern is that because people are being motivated out of speciesism and not concern for animal welfare, the protest could well succeed in ending horses being shipped through the airport, while having no meaningful effect even for the horses still being bread, abused, and discarded in the province. It would be a victory akin to banning plastic straws because a turtle had their photo taken while injured by one once, while meanwhile the same volume of plastics are still being dumped into the ocean every day.

My dad ate horse during WWll said it was good Europe has eaten horse for centuries. To old to pull the wagon time to come to dinner. In the U.S. they were used for dog food. I agree it would be easier to butcher them here and export the meat. Mabe the Japanese prefer fresh to frozen.

it is so sad that you have no compassion. I hope you one day see the horror these animals endure. They all want to live, just like us.
