I had the pleasure of being a camel walker at a major zoo and for a year I spent about 14 hours a day with three beautiful boys. I grew to love them and they me. It's my ardent wish to have a little spot of land and a couple of these babies. You really have a beautiful set up for them. Absolutely fascinating! I never knew how pack oriented camels could be, then again tbh, I really don’t know anything more than the different species and that they are well suited to the desert. But that was sweet how Baby was basically sticking up for you! You can see how loved and cared for these animals are! 🐪💗

I had camels when I lived in Egypt as pets. At first I was concerned, but I can see it was necessary for Baby to do this. Baby did listen to you and hopefully Nessie will be easier to deal with in the future.

All animals do this, in wolves and coyotes it's called being a "scapegoat", orcas practice "raking", etc. Now I agree this is normal and natural amongst all pack and herd animals, but what do you look for (besides blood being drawn) in animals that cannot resolve within a pen? Just curious - I am a dog trainer myself and I know the difference between a serious fight and a "I'm the boss of you" fight when it comes to canines, so I was just wondering more of what you look for in these camels. (BTW they are both so beautiful!!! 😍😍😍)

This was upsetting😧 despite knowing it is natural and they sort out dominance\bullying\aggression issues this way, but it was educational and I always appreciate learning something new concerning animal behavior. Questions: Did you put them in the ring specifically so that Baby could squash this beef? Why didn't they sort it out in their newly fenced area once moved in? I get why it was necessary for Baby to do this : Nessie had been an asshole to him repeatedly when he couldn't fight back and that was due to their temporary housing situation during fence repairs, I believe you stated. However, Im wondering why she was able to physically pick on him, yet he couldn't physically defend himself against her. Sorry to ask so many questions!

I don’t know if you’re just a troll or not, but she owns the damn camels and is the proper expert on them. Listen to the dialogue she gives, it explains the situation. Animals are not always like human children, don’t speak when you don’t know a subject properly.

Does Baby do this if Nessie has been bullying the other animals around as well ? Though I doubt Octavian and any of your other rams would back down. Does he still try to headbutt them over the hay and if some since they are larger has he tried climbing and jumping off something so that he can headbutt face to face. Just asking because I saw some young goats doing this trying to headbutt and play with a young longhorn calf.

I'm not trying to be rude here, but I'd kindly suggest that if you leave that rope halter on Nessie that you take the lead rope off. It's that coiled rope hanging off the loop of the halter. I noticed you kept it tied up on her in the last video but had another rope to tie her to a fence, I just didn't say anything. Wouldn't want Baby getting a hold of it if they fight again. And I don't know about camels, but for horses it's generally not a good idea to leave halters on them anyway (unless they are "breakaway halters") because they can get them snagged on something and injure themselves. Rope halters are especially bad for that because they won't break. I think you can get a little leather breakaway tab for rope ones though.
It's your animal though, I just thought I'd leave a suggestion.
They were just led into the pen for the very first time by me moments ago. I left the halters on because I knew this was going to take place and I wanted the advantage of some control. Thank you and no personal offense taken. I am well aware and there is reason I am standing out there watching. I do not leave halters on my animals. Not even breakaway halters.

Nice to see the camel's again! I'm a bit skeptical that Baby is acting on your behalf to a degree instead of just acting in response to being bullied--seems like one of those things that is more likely to be selfish than altruistic when both potential motivations are present. Why did Nessie get to be more of a bully and Baby did not--just opportunity because he was tied up? Did that keep him more respectful of you too or is that just because you have been together longer?

I remember seeing three camels fight among themselves in a similar fashion when I was in Qatar. Luckily the Arabian Jockies calmed them down just before the camel race. Ever since then, I've been careful around camels. Riding on camels for the first time was quite the experience.
