Story 1. I wouldn't pick them up. I'd make them do everything themselves. I had 2 friends tell me they wanted to visit me, separately. I told them directly, I will not entertain them. It is! Once I had a lot of trouble entering a concert. They asked me my age but my birthday had just passed and it took me a while to answer, so they thought I was a minor. I was about 25, I had my ID in my hand and I had bought the tickets with my own credit card. Damn!

I am not short but my family all look younger than our ages. My brother doing a postgrad degree had to avoid a busybody trying to get him to “return” to his school group visiting the university. I was informed once in a shop they were supposed to tell all customers about their store charge card but I was clearly too young. I was 23 at the time and the age to get a store card was 18. It’s fun now I’m 60 that people don’t believe it.

Giving her spouse the cold shoulder and staying at a hotel is not "standing up for yourself." She should've sat spouse down and said friend either finds a hotel NOW (and pays for it) and rents their own car to drive, OR they leave for home. NOW. TODAY. Oh, friend throws tantrums? Too bad. I'd pack their stuff and toss it out the door, and let them know just how selfish, considerate and lazy they've been. That is not a friend, that is a user!

They will actually help you grow as a person. 1) You will realize some things just don't matter that much. 2) You will be able to face stressful situations without losing it, and 3) You learn perspective. Remember, they are mostly harmless and mentally ill. Just because they CHOSE to act a fool and hysterical like a toddler doesn't make any difference to your life. If they become too aggressive, call the police. As long as you are in the right, a hysterical stranger can't make you do ANYTHING or make ANYTHING happen.

MANY cultures would be upset if they tried to help clean, offer money etc. No they cant just kick out the friend, that is their partners house too. It doesnt work like that. Just tell them you cant drive them places and get over the rest. "the tv is too loud in the room I like to be in" suck it up buttercup thats what having guests is like. I also dare to say they told their partner it was fine cause they are a people pleaser w no backbone but then complains to people that cant help.

If she truly did not believe OP's explanation, then she could've talked to the airport security/employees, who would be able to find the parents of someome in the airport way faster than one person who doesn't work there and also has two young kids to handle. Story 1: there are ungrateful people out there. Years ago my kid was in a national sports teams at an event in France. The nearest airport was over an hour from the town the event was happening in. The team had a bus to transport them but any parents or other supporters had to make their own arrangements. One couple hadn’t and had to take a taxi (very expensive). They were low income so this was particularly hard for them. We had a hire car but our daughter was competing for more days than theirs. Even so I got my husband to pick them up from their hotel and drive them back to the airport the day they were leaving. They never said thank you or sent a card or anything. Another girl at the event didn’t have her parents with her so we videoed her event and gave her mum a DVD of the event next time we saw her. She immediately went out and bought us chocolates to say “thank you”. The difference in response was staggering.

The student story made me think of a student I helped. She was not talented so she made me write her papers more and more. I said enough, and she threw a trantrum and said she would jump out the window if I did not write her paper. I don not know why I did, but now I know a lot about the soybean.

Story 2: i hate when i get annoyed at the OP, and i know its momday koring quarter backing, but this girl handled this terribly. I get it, she was young and scared, so im not trying to blame them.
it's just frystrating, like watching a reap life version of someone going into the horror room murder basment even arfter 3 other people have died, or when people are dying left and right and even though 4 people have already heen picked off, they group decides to split up, and you're yelling at the screen to "no dont do that!"
