Our receiver corps is hard. Someone, whomever it is, needs to get them the ball.
Well they are on paper. The room has been completely overhauled from last season with new names. There might be 2 guys from last year on the 2 deep.
You'd think that might tell folks something about last year.
I’m hoping Thorne’s stock rises by what he actually does on the field.
Stock up doesn’t have to mean he’s improved. It’s actually an indictment on the other guys not improving.
I’ll wait until I see him perform in a tough SEC game or a bowl game

Lol fu€k PT’s feelings I haven’t seen auburn football win 7 games in a season since 2019. If PT keeps that from happening AGAIN then he deserves all the “whiny ass” fans that come his way
There are def a few usual suspects on here that I'm guessing would be A LOT more respectful if approached by PT than the true colors they spew on a daily basis on here. Fans being critical of a QB are expected but in all reality there was so many things going wrong in the first season of a new head coach; it just seems like there are too many people who can't see the wider picture because of a narrow view.
Payton Thorne is still on this team and no other QB was brought in to challenge them.
Who is no longer a part of this team?:
An OC in Philip Montgomery and a ton of wide receivers who were not up to snuff.
I agree 100% the potential for Thorne to improve is the highest considering the changes around him. I can see a 64% completion and 425 pass attempts this fall.
I believe Dillon Wade is a close #2 in stock rising. The switch to Guard benefits him more than any move in position by any player on the team.
I'm a little surprised you picked Asante. Almost every podcast team and beat writer, including you Zac, have talked a LOT about Robert Woodyard and how much better he is. I would have thought in a "stock rising" discussion, Woodyard's name would be on the list.

I think 425 pass attempts may be a bit too much. Gotta run the ball too. 370 attempts would be good enough for a possible 3,000+ yard season. I agree on the comp % though. He has always thrown too many INT's.
I'll believe it when I see it. Nothing against PT but we heard a lot of this kind of talk going into last season.

@@anderscristiaan6022not true we have a finite amount of resources Hugh chose to spend those resources developing the roster and not just the QB position. That doesn’t mean in an ideal world he wouldn’t have taken another QB if it didn’t cost him an arm and a leg and transfer players

just a note ...im sure this will change but the OL didn't look good at the A DAY game running game go back and look..they did look good in blocking...could of been our defense. being a lot better

2. Cam Brown WR Played self back onto team and starting outside spot
3. Robert Woodward LB Played way into two deep
4. Robert Lewis WR Chased Jay Fair to Southern Cal
5. Holden Gerner QB That he remains on the roster indicates large value increase

No one in the auburn media talks about how Peyton Thorne throws so many pick6's or never goes through progressions or recognize the blitzs... upgraded talent and new scheme wont help that....

I would personally say Cams stock has risen the most. Yes he was highly touted but nobody really knew how good he really was kinetically. He is a dude!!!! P. Thorne should be a lot better with the lethal weapons he has to fire to. Let's hope anyways. All I have to say is Julian Lewis PLEASE come to Auburn. You will be a football god.

Why not choose to be optimistic about PT. We better hope he improves because if we have to go with Hank or Walker they will have to learn on the job which could make for a tough season.
When you’re at rock bottom, there’s nowhere to go but up. Maybe PT can go from dead last in the SEC to lower middle of the pack. He’s not good. It is what it is.

Gotta have a backup. In the age of NIL you can't just stock the room completely with dudes that could have started anywhere. You need to get some that wanna play for the coach and stay a while.
Sean White was brought in when Jeremy Johnson was supposed to be the starter for 3 years and see how that ended up.
Freeze knows he is on the clock and that he HAS to show progress this season, if he didn’t feel comfortable with PT he would have went another direction at QB.
I think he didn’t go in another direction because we couldn’t afford better than PT without losing out on transfers and HS players in the process
The market rate for a QB like Riley Leonard/Cam Riley is upwards of a million dollars Auburn can’t spend that money without losing out on other players like Dre Lambert
Hugh took a gamble and bet on himself and his ability to improve QB’s. I hope that gamble pays off. Because your right after NMS, 4th and 31, and Maryland High is certainly on the clock
Good morning to the King of the Boog. I believe he should be a bit better but the only thing we’ve learned is that Freeze is brutally honest. When asked “Can AU make the playoff” Essentially Freeze said “Hell nah, not this year”. He says he expects improvement but that’s 7-5, 8-4. Thorne will be a bit better but AU is more than a QB away from being relevant

With regards to Payton, we won't see him run with the ball so much this year, which I think will give him 80 or more pass attempts than he had last fall. I think Payton's 2024 stats could be an avg of his 2021 and 2022 stats at Mich St. He cannot throw 10 picks this season though. With the new playmakers at receiver, I think we could see an efficiency from Thorne we've never seen before from him. Here's to hoping for the best.

Surprised Rivaldo Fairweather wasnt #2 or #3 on this list! #2 TE in the SEC last season in Receptions, Yards and TDs behind Bowers and MANY publications have him listed as the Top returning TE in the SEC. With the additions at WR and along the O-Line Fairweather is primed for a HUGE Breakout season. Defenses can no longer key on him knowing hes the only legitimate receiving threat on the field like they did last season. With CHF developing Game Plan and calling plays Fairweather is a mismatch wet dream with a LB or S being forced to try to cover him!
At QB, you either got it or you don’t. Thorne will NEVER be that guy.
If Freeze can teach him to go through progressions quickly he might be ok.My feeling is he won’t which means he will glam on to one receiver throw to him or check down to running back or run.He does not throw with accuracy so his receivers are going to have to make plays.I’m supprised Freeze has not come to that conclusion after last year or he is not confident in any of his QBs.Either way the rest of the team is good enough to ink out 7-8 wins which gets him at least one more year I think that’s the plan.One mor big recruiting year especially he’s not calling plays?
I think Cam Browns stock is up. With all the attention to Coleman and KLS. I think Brown will have a breakout season.

Misplaced optimism? A stock can only go up from 0, so the topic itself is a waste of time. We're putting way too much pressure on Cam Coleman, which isn't fair to him. The big issue is making sure he gets involved enough in the passing game to keep him from transfer portal. Throne will be same old song and dance and I'm record saying Brown is the guy, not Thorne.
Brown isn’t beating out WW for the job next year and If we land JuJu this year both of them will transfer out without ever starting a game

Anit no way Thorne stock has risen the most just no way I wouldn’t put any money on him and let me explain it doesn’t matter how good those receivers are if he throws the ball 10 years to far they can’t catch that and if he throws the ball straight to the defense nothing the receivers can do. We will see tho just know you are digging yourself in a hole because the first game when he throws 2 picks you are going to get slammed throne is not him
