I had mine for a year. Removed the weights, but still didn't feel right... So, bought a Skywing Edge 540 48" for dedicated 3D and sold my Ultimate. I think your comments about lack of feel/connection are spot on...
I have mine for a while now and it's probably one of my least flown models. Ironically, I was chasing a sale price on it and accidentally bought two. I still have the other brand new in the box. I know the feeling you're talking about. I feel it as well. I feel like the plane could just go uncontrollable at any minute. It doesn't help that at one point, the gyro loosened on the plane and sent mine into the ground. It was repairable, but you lose trust with something like that. Since I bought this, I've made an FT-3D XL, bought an Eratix, a Flex QQ Extra 300, and a 1m Sbach profile foamie with an airfoil. Every one of these planes is more enjoyable to fly than Ultimate 3D.
Strange! I liked how mine was flying, but I haven't flown it in a long time since it needs a repair (and I haven't gotten around to fixing it yet). I'm no 3D pilot either, but it felt great doing the things I could as well as regular circuits. How's your CG? Try going about 45° up and roll over to inverted. It should continue in the same path.
I think the Ultimate 3D is the only airplane in my hangar that I regret buying. It just flies like a stuffed pig. Eventually I'll try flying it without that extra weight that Eflite added to the nose, but I just don't care enough about this biplane to bother with it yet. Too many other airplanes that fly far better.
I dont think I will be ordering this plane soon! Its always a big bonus for me if I can land my plane the right way up in the same field that I took off in!
I kind of agree with Will (SteffenRC). I actually liked flying it and it felt fine...BUT, only after I removed that weight. Will is right it still won't feel as good as a dedicated 3D plane designed by folks that only do that like Skywing, Extreme flight, etc., but to be fair no full bodied foam 3D plane built by folks that do other things and dabble in 3D feels as good as those.
Anyone else experience wing chatter on this plane? Under full speed or high wind conditions the wings flap like crazy! Every time it happens I need to let off the throttle and turn safe on to recover. It scares the crap out of me. Wing is mounted tight. I'm unsure what the heck could be causing this, any ideas?
My ultimate is locked in. Carbon rod in the tail, nose weights removed and I put the 2200 so about half of it is back under the wing. Mine flew like trash until I removed the nose weights
@@SunriseRCAviator If you pull the nose off of the plane you can look in under the battery tray and you will see the two weights stacked on each side underneath the front of the battery tray. If you use a long hook or pic, you can get in there and just work your way around the edge of the weight and break the glue seal and then the weights will come right out and you don't have to do any major cutting like a lot of other people had to do. I just put a new fuselage on mine and was able to get the weights out without doing any cutting at all. It really does fly worlds better without that extra 5 oz up front.. I wasn't a big fan of mine at first either I actually crashed mine when I first got it and it ejected the weights lol and when I glued it back together I did not put them back in and it flew much better
Same experience here. Even after removing all that extra weight in the nose it still flies awkward. On the edge at all times. Ultimates are known for having mild manners unless commanded to get wild. This one is terrible. Bad design for sure. Still trying to get it to fly right but eventually always just going to the next plane in the hanger. The eflight extra 300 is amazing for a foam bird. Max out all throws and hang on . Flies like it's on rails.
It looks like your missing the wire that holds on you bottom strut that why it is so crazy they can fall out if the bend in the wire get loose you can make a new one just pull old one and copy it .I got many hours on mine but it is not a 3D machine
The only flight assist I used was AS3X and it only mitigate wind gusts. I know to many this is a love or hate plane so I guess I fall into the later category.
Very interesting aircraft Mate. I just ordered the Decathelon for some aerobatics. I would have crashed this one i think. Well presented
Thanks! That new Decathlon looks interesting.

I will also try to remove the counter weight
@@SunriseRCAviator it helps. But I think you already know the fate of that plane. 😬
@@SteffenRC I got to give it another chance at least.
@@SunriseRCAviator Yes you do.. Plus it's interesting content for the channel... Good luck my friend.. - Will

That's the thing with this plane. I can't trust it. I have also had good experience with other aerobatic RC planes so the Ultimate was just weird.

CG is as per manual but is like the plane has its own flying path and don't respond as any other plane.

It is the same to me in a way. Very surprised that it flies so different from any other RC plane I have tried.
Great landing Bro!

It might be a very niche plane and suited to a limited type of RC plane taste.

Someone pointed out maybe the pins for the in between wing braces wasn't correctly inserted.

Yes I really like the Extra 300!
I am sad I sold my original Ultimate. It flew perfectly and I got the 3D - I am disappointed in the control I am allowed.

I don't think anything was missing in the build as far as I know.
Lower right side missing there should be 4 it looks like you have3
@@superdon1chw Look close and all four of them are pushed in. It is tricky to get them in so I know I remember them.
Ok well I could not see them but . I love flying this plane. I have worn out my wheel pans and replaced them with plastic ...@@SunriseRCAviator
Cant you just put your own flight board on it? If it feels that alien to you maybe there is something wrong with it and can be fixed

yes , remove the front weights and put in de carbon rod in the rear , and fly it again please
Remove the 140g of counterweight in the nose and it’s gonna be a different beast…
This plane is way too heavy for what it is. The Flex Innovations’s Mamba10 is way ahead of this plane. It’s not even close.
Yes I can see that being one of the problems with this plane.
