If memory serves, those News of the World (trashiest newspaper ever) reporters were masquerading as match fixing Arabs.. trying to trap John into fixing a match. But they were unsuccessful. Because the fact is John never agreed to fix any matches or did he accept any bribes. It was a complete non-story and they sensationalised it. John should have sued them for tarnishing his good name. To this day, a lot of people incorrectly think he's a cheat because of those lying bastards.
@PatrickRyan147 that's BS. I went to The British Open down Cheltenham a few month back and got talking to a few lads that know a top player in Bristol and they and the Snooker tour KNOW Higgins took the bribe. Because he's in with Barry and his face fits, allegations were dropped.. which is why Stephen Lee is bitter (and rightly so) as he got a 12yr suspension for the same thing.
@@stumpymacbagpipes16so Higgins took a bribe for a match that didn’t even exist, in fact the tournament didn’t even exist. With Lee the money was traced to his bank account.
You can clearly see in the replay that he didn't hit the white ball twice as the cue didn't go forward after initial contact so I'm not sure why he called the foul on himself.

My personal opinion, if were teaching someone stance and stroke, there is no one that has a better stance/stroke. It is a thing of beauty to anyone who really studies the minutiae of the game. Sure there are other variables involved but John's stroke is absolutely perfect imo..
With all due respect to your video title sir, the vast majority of snooker players are as honest as this. It is very rare that a player doesn't call a foul on themselves.

He never accepted anything. He just took the meeting. And he had to pay out £85,000 for a fine and costs for that. He served a ban for 6 months. And it wasn't even his fault. His stupid manager at the time convinced him to take the meeting. He fired that manager. No! John Higgins has more than payed his dues.. for being naïve is all.. imo..

If you’ve seen the video you would know he said Spain. The cash he was talking about was for a sponsorship deal that he believed was what the meeting is about. And finally the video was edited and dubbed. The investigation team had access to the whole video (at least 10 minutes) not just the 2 or 3 minutes the NOTW wanted you to see
