Masterpiece Theater EP 0:00 Please Don't Go (prod. J Dilla) 3:57 Hardware (prod. DJ Krush) 8:08 Mona Lisa (prod. Karriem Riggins) 10:37 The Professional 14:03 Dope Fiend
One of the best emcees. Ever. Your favorite rappers favorite rapper. Feared, respected and almost a threat to catch a body on any feature. Respect to one of the greatest alive.
I wouldn’t say “underrated” just never mentioned and forgotten. Bring up his name amongst any hip hop head. And the response would be.... OH YEAAAA DOPE! Niggas just forget and don’t be remembering.
This is not altogether true. Some of these were for Masterpiece Theater (Hardware, Mona Lisa). Please Don't Go was an unreleased record from The Tipping Point & What is titled "The Professional" is a freestyle from an unreleased Roots Crew mixtape. Dope Fiend is just an old unreleased Roots record. The Roots album Phrenology is definitely Black Thought's Masterpiece Theater plus a few added "Roots" records. Complexity, Break You Off , Sacrifice & the Cody Chestnut song The Seed 2.0 & the interludes were all added to Masterpiece Theater to make the album Phrenology.
Thanks for the dope history lesson. I had always heard that Please Don't Go was supposed to be for his debut, that's why it wasn't on Tipping Point, which makes sense to me, since that would have been 2004-ish. Yes, Hardware and Mona Lisa are definitely two of the "lost" tracks. Hadn't heard that about The Professional, it's always grouped in with the former two, but you certainly could be right, has more of a freestyle vibe than the others. And Dope Fiend just had such a similar Phrenology vibe, and came from around the same time, I figured it might be a lost track from Masterpiece Theater. Either way, makes a dope little EP and most heads haven't heard most of these tracks. Wanted to show 'em some love. Have a blessed day.
Montez Roberts regardless people havent heard of these amazing and displays the capabilities of thought. especially how hes gaining popularity in the mainstream media. also that his new album is out. but i feel you was kinda dissapointed also
Wasn't dissapoited at all......... I just know because I was around all of these recordings and I actually recorded "The Professional" and created the unreleased mixtape that this was apart of. There are tons of vaulted Black Thought gems that will hopefully leak now because of his spike in popularity. I'm just giving a correct account of history.
Man, i hope someday more demos of this unreleased album see the light, like more of "Danger Thoughts" & "The Talented Mr. Trotter" projects. Thanks bro thou.
Lol. Pisses me off that i can't spit like this dude. Thought ill as a bitch. Point blank. This nigga and Gza gotta be my two favorites. No disrespect to anyone
It never was. It didn't exist until I posted it. I just collected these 5 tracks that were supposed to have been on the album and created this little EP to give these songs more love and attention from the heads.
