I Went to my local college and saw their wind symphony play this. This masterpiece made cry and feel like I was going to vomit it was such a magical experience!! Go see this live if you have the chance it 100x better then it is in videos!!!!
This is a really beautiful piece. I originally had to listen to it for a school assignment, but it's probably one of the only symphonies that I'll actually come back to at some point
And here I'm thinking - wow this group really has to know the conductor's style here because it sure looks like the downbeats come long before the sound. Wonderful playing and I do like the piece.
20:43-20:47 are we not gonna talk about the incredible velocity and height they are getting with a traditional grip on a BASS DRUM MALLET
The climactic last 5 minutes are right up there with Stravinsky’s Firebird from the horn solo on✅💥
This piece is brilliant!!! I don’t know where this has been hiding, but wow!

Up there with Mackey’s symphony. Just sheer beautiful, bliss and overwhelmingly programmatic. Ugh.
The ending is just a masterpiece. Great idea, brilliant orchestration and harmonization.
Congrats for composer and orchestra!
Seriously. This piece is very well crafted, paced, orchestrated, developed, etc… and the ensemble is just at their absolute best as is the conductor.
Great musicianship. Wish I could have been there in person to hear this live!
It was absolutely incredible!!

The end of the final movement is giving off a lot of Maslanka vibes
Omg I thought the same thing
That's actually because the composer, Michael Martin, wrote this in tribute to Maslanka
Squirkle - oh, good to know
19:20
is the audio out of sync or is it just my end?
No, if you're referring to the parts around 9:00, that's the piece :)

sometimes
Is it just me or does the conductor look like Colonel Sanders?
Just you. At least that's my perspective. He may look like someone else you know?
