I just can't stop coming back to this performance... it's just so, so good!!! I've been completely obsessing over it ever since it was first posted. I absolutely love Junkin's interpretation, and it is brilliantly played by the musicians. Great recording/editing too. Bravo to all, outstanding job here!
Hi ! it was played yesterday by an incredible nowegian band in the european championships for winf band. Enjoy at 3:48 ! Standing ovation and a high high émotions in the concert hall (the won the contest) ruclips.net/video/DEGmERrh97o/видео.html
@@tylercoughranmusicwow you have no idea how many times I’d driven home from work listening to this song while eating a brownie! I thought it was just me 😂
It makes me really happy to know that there is another band that is just like what used to be known as "the little band that could". Mountain View High School had it's golden years(about a decade) and our size never put us down. This really encourages me to join you guys in 2 years!
This is easily my go-to recording for this piece! There is just something that makes this stand out compared to other performances I have heard. The tempos in the last section make such a huge difference and takes it to a new level!
I listened to the first minute of this song years ago and was completely uninterested. I have absolutely no idea why I didn't like it because now that it is 100% my favorite piece.
holy jesus, jerry junkin never fails..

tears at the end and chills throughout the whole performance, university of texas always has outstanding band members
How are there only 4 trombones producing that strong of a sound? HOW???
Never underestimate the lung capacity of a brass player.
Lung capacity and intonation
Its a loud instrument...
This was, by far, one of the most fantastic pieces I've heard in my entire life. John Mackey really knows how to write!
Maslanka Symphony Number 4 (also played by this same ensemble) is pretty spectacular, too.
I listen to this piece every night when I drive home from work while eating a brownie, It's so relaxing.

I took my band to the National Concert Band Festival in 2014, and we watched Mountain View perform. Fantastic band program!!!
@@kurtgros4022 one of the best years! Those 3 masterpieces were lots of fun to play
Did you join them??
Step aside, North Texas. This is the best recording of this song, hands down.
Check out the United States Marine Band recording of this piece.
@@somebody4061 The Marine band is definitely more precise, but the instrumentation of this version makes it so much better.

I listen to this every day.
Great piece. Superbly written and this talented group of musicians does it proud.

That piccolo player is killing it!
this sounds like it was ripped straight from a movie!! what a piece, what a performance
I liked this, nice atmosphere and good build up, mmkay?
this song is so satisfying
so impressive🎉

Why do I hear an organ at the end, yet the piece doesn’t mention an organ part?
it could've been an inside suggestion, or they wrote a part for it
There is an original organ part included with the rest.
13:03 takes away my breath.
2:58 what is this instrument?
Organ pipes
uber crescendo there at 13:51!
Jerry Junkin has BDE.
2 forms of BDE actually: “band director energy”, and the other form you’re talking about lmao
🍀🎶🍀
Is that an alto or a bass flute
Both. The score requires one of each
