Awesome!! I finally found a Camillus US military knife from the year I enlisted, 1989. In great condition. That unused Zippo is great. I’m on a few Zippo collector pagers and have learned from that if you intend not to use a Zippo to go ahead and remove flint and sticker. As you know a flint setting unused can deteriorate and clog the tube. The sticker staying on can discolor the finish. As for as the Case knife..you can take it apart and bend that liner in more don’t will engage but that could also affect the action. Definitely contact them about it.

Great video brother. Oh buddy im sure glad you noticed the liner lock failure in the longhouse. Mine fails on me with only 5lbs or maybe less of pressure. I found out the hard way too. She bit me real good. Could have used some medical attention but chose not to deal with that headache. I still need to contact case as well. Glad it wasn't just me.

Hey doc iv a few liner locks that due that same thing some of them can be fixed by a small peice of rubber band or similar material placed behind the liner and it pushing down inside the liner with a flat head but ya you shouldn't have to do that with a new us made knife you payed a good price for case will make right with ya

Cases QC has gone right down the crapper,I can't believe the garbage they let leave the factory.I own a lot of Case knives but will no longer buy a Case knife without seeing and handling it first. The last Case I bought was a mahogany bone sod buster Jr and the blade was very wobbly(side to side) right out of the box.I returned it and got a new one that had the same problem. This happened 3 times even though I spoke to someone on the phone and asked that the knives be inspected for a wobbly blade.I don't think they had one in stock that wasn't like that,I finally just gave up.I've had to return more Case knives than anything else.

Seems like bad lockface geometry, you can strengthen the lockbar pressure and see if it works but I’d send it back for bother and see how that does. If it will it’s geometry.

Another knife with a serious safety issue that I found at Walmart is the Camillus Wedge model. At several stores when I examined this knife, the blade would not lock open. It appeared that either the end of the blade or the lock lever were too long, so the blade could not go in the lock position. I finally did find stores where the knife did function ok.

Yep on the ‘second’ grinding on camillus .
If you find it on cold steel… it was ‘most likely ‘ leftover’ stock from when camillus closed …
cold steel made Smokey mountain do that before selling the surplus.
K bar punched a dot by the tang stamps on some of their Becker seconds .

I was going to buy the new case modern slipjoint, I beleive it’s called the highbanks. But I saw reviews claiming the detent locking it open was very weak meaning this too could close up on you if not careful.
I have had some poor QC issues on there traditional knives but thought as these knives were new so would have thought would have been made using all new tooling and would not have the same issues.

Don't take this the wrong way about the case knife but it's down to the user is obviously brand new you have to give it time for the linerlock to wear in which is a good thing if you are a knife user if they sent it the other way where the liner lock was already broken in and you add play you wouldn't be happy either cut them a little bit of Slack anyway if you're not happy take the knife apart get a file give a couple of Strokes on the Locke bar just a little bit like a son el Penny's mother and mother says two son push like you're having a baby please don't get like the others you've got excellent content and thumbs up to you

I don’t know what is going on at Case. I just received a bad Sodbuster. It’s crooked as heck. Way out of whack.
I hope they haven’t been bought by some private equity group that doesn’t care about quality. Most only care about what profit they can extract from a good name before they hollow the place out and sell it as an empty shell.
This is the third defective Case knife I have seen in a month. That’s three more than I’ve ever seen in my life. I bought my first Case knife with money from my first job in 1963. The quality has been consistently high until recently. Something is very wrong.
My birthday Sodbuster looks like it was produced in a third world sweat shop. It wasn’t even cleaned of grinding and polishing grit.
I’ll be contacting them shortly. If this isn’t easily made right, another legend has died.
I’ve seen that liner lock problem on other old brand names that kept the name and discarded high quality.
Shrade for one. The last I bought was a dangerous piece of trash. It’s heartbreaking
Send that knife back to Case and tell them what’s wrong. It’s obvious that someone in charge doesn’t know what they’re doing. It looks like rookies polished those parts with a heavy, inexperienced hand.
The precision isn’t there. That lock and the tang are a failed attempt at knife making. Dang shame.
My Sodbuster had the pivot pin hole drilled askew. Slap dash mistake. Crooked as hell.

Everyone that has received a bad one needs to contact Case and politely, but firmly , tell them they need to get some more qualified managers . That knife in this video is a lawsuit waiting to happen and a black mark on their reputation. Tell them.
It will take as long as twelve weeks, according to the warranty info, to resolve my issue. If I don’t get a properly made Case knife out of this, we are done. Not another dime for junk that insults a great name’s former achievements.
