If I lived at a coastal place like that I'd probably still be flying. In the Columbia River Gorge I had to deal with small, really nasty thermals. After 12 years I got tired of sail inversions and hitting my back on the keel. I flew in the Reno area several times and was shocked. Thermals 1/4 mile wide? What? Got up to 12K there and was freezing in shorts and a tank top because I didn't know any better. LOL.
@@huwparsons4069 There's great soaring at the Oregon coast, but it's a 2.5 hour drive for me. I'm 77 and two years ago I took an old UP Condor to Cape Kiwanda and soared the dune for an hour, make sure I could still do it. I paid a kid five dollars to carry my glider to the top of the dune for me. Almost every Pacific Northwest pilot learned to fly at that cape.
What a lovely flight - v jealous!
Nice one 👍
Nice flying 👌🏼🙂 .. Seems like a great place for coastal soaring.
Great site!

Nice one Bob
We are very lucky to have Woolacombe as a coastal site. Just so much fun to fly there.
