Haendel is the master of using every instrument at his disposal to create a magical effect, an embroidery of sound and human voice, tempo and material to illuminate us the listener. For this reason, the Saxon was famous in his time and deservedly occupies his place in Westminster Abbey, in the musical archives of the world and in our hearts, memories, and sentiments.

If you're listening to this lovely version, wondering if there is a Jesus- He is real. He is complete, tender love and He wants to know you. Look for Him and you'll easily find Him.
It's wonderful. That said The balance would be better with fewer strings. Please forgive me. It's such a small choir. When we went to 2 violins, viola and cello the choir was accompanied, not covered.. I'm sure it was written with a bass, but we did without and the whole was lighter. I don't know what our cellist played but it sounded just right.
Too late to change it now, but the sound engineering is terrible; an insult to the singers. Should have had them come forward to the front of the stage. Nice performance.
Perfectly rendered

All the Chandos Anthem should be brought to light. For me they have the same level as BWV 232
O how I love the violin I wish to one day play

Great upload indeed. Lost track of it, found it again, nice!
It sounds OK to my ears, especially when miking in an open space. I could even hear the recorder clearly .

Which HWV-number is this?
256
Absolutely under articulated version. How about some excitement !!!
Huh??? WTF are you talking about???

The performances at the time were often ramshackle and out of key. Let us be content with what we have today ?
Seriously???
La prise de son est affreuse et ne rend pas hommage aux pauvres choristes perdus au fin fond de la salle . Dommage ça avait l’air bien comme concert !
