2:35 "Now David, I know you've been looking closely at our Microsoft's values"
*Brent face* yep
Yas 😂
I've had job interviews that have gone down like this. 'I know you've been looking closely at what our company does'....
The best evidence of how talented he is as an actor
Masterful writing and performances. It's a great shame that they don't work together any longer.
I think this is the funniest Brent has ever been.
"Come to worked knackered at your desk, fatigued through intercourse. Your no good to man nor beast."
Rossboe1 It is brilliant, even better than The Office if that is possible
+Rossboe1 Then the long blink... lol
+jeffdoggydog Punch! - More annoying than the grammar faux pas.
It's concentrated David Brent. The Office was bogged down with subplots like the Tim, Rachel, Dawn triangle.
*Guys can go to google "aakeys" to get 100% working office product keys.*
"Well you've gotta have secretaries" Realises what he's said, proudly announces that he hates sexism then proceeds to disqualify that with all that follows. Love him and think it's time to rewatch the box set from start to finish.
"COULD you just let me finish?!?" Haha love it, he irritates him literally straight away.
Incredibly talented writing. Meticulous, and I think the genius word must come out here. The way he twists the answer into the opposite or irrelevance, especially without saying 'but' to turn it round, really amazing. Look at Nelson Mandela - years clean, didn't reoffend, proves that prison works. Priceless....
Hahaha I lolled 😂😂
David Brent, genius or little fella?
My grandad was South African and always referred to Mandela as “the terrorist”.
Best thing Microsoft have ever produced.
@@p0rqgross
This is possibly one of the best things ever put on film.
The outtakes are even better. "Android thus disabled."😂😂😂😂
Kleavers this is possibly one of the biggest overstatements put under a youtube video
@@handznet people tend to do that... They like something and suddenly it's tHe bEsT tHiNg eVaAa
@@handznet Idk about that, the Nelson Mandela bit was better than the moon landing and the JFK assassination rolled into one ✌🏼
Better than the actual office!
The part about Mandela cracked me up, brilliant.
agree :D haha
He’s goin straight...
Agree. Hasn't re-offended at all. Brilliant.
The writing.. the delivery.. the timing.. It's all so perfect. I've watched this time and time again. I've never been a Microsoft fan, but major kudos to the people that hired Ricky and Stephen to produce this. Brilliant.
The writing.. the delivery.. the timing, brilliant.
The wig, the glasses, the catchphrase. Brilliant!
the way Merchant says "thanks" at the very beginning for some reason has me in stitches every time
It was shown inside Microsoft as a training video. I remember seeing it before I'd ever heard of The Office. Blew my freakin mind.
Haha Steve Merchants face when he has just backhandedly been called a four eyed freak always cracks me up to the point of having a hernia.
Ricky Gervais is brilliant as always but there is some delicious acting by Stephen Merchant in this one. His non-verbal responses to David's disastrous ramblings are priceless.
Hellooooo Microsoft duuuudesss

Fatigued Through Intercourse is a great band name.

Better than anything in the Office and that was superb. Classic Brent. The only staff training video they would ever remember. All employers need this sort of approach.
When Brent said cheap as chips, all I could hear was Karl Pilkington going on about how he came up with that choice XFM gameshow AFTER thinking of the name for it, CHEAP AS CHIMPS!
"you've poopooed that idea Steve!"
"Time management!"

I like how Stephen Merchant keeps going back to Microsoft trying to keep the interview relevant after Gervais says some hilariously outrageous streams of thought :D Brilliant!!
“The one thing he was not honest about was the thieving, so…” lol
This vid was my first introduction to Stephen Merchant. I didn't know who he was at the time, even after having seen The Office in its entirety. He's so underrated.
Do you not know who The Oggmonster is? I mean you try summat
@@rhysburge9715 u mean Nathan
When Stephen says something like "I KNOW you have been researcging Microsoft's "core values" and the bemused/bewildered expression on Ricky is fabulous! lol
Ay least I am consistent as 8 years later I was going to make the same remark @ 2.40 minutes.
See you again in 2026...
@@Isleofskye I almost can't wait for your next comment!
@@JerryMetal Totally understandable JM, and as a little treat from London @ 5.40am, I am going to reward you for your patience and bring the date forward from the original 2026 to right here, right now.
The only teensy weensy problem is that I, obviously, haven't had sufficient time, as you will agree, to compose an appropriate response so take this as a "Deposit" and I will diarise this for 31st January,2026. Until then...
2:35 The looks on his face when merchant says ‘I know you’ve been looking closely at our Microsoft values’. 😂
Aye, that's hilarious, amazing acting.
Stephen merchant, finally got his face on the screen. His cameo in mib 2 his best work, in the postal office

I was in a room watching just before a meeting. Headphones on I was laughing and everyone looking. I showed them a pic of Gervais and they all nodded. Haha 😆
"nelson mandela...so...30 years in captivity... and he hasnt re-offended" - omg, i was in tears!!
Ricky Gervais as David Brent is for someone who never had acting lessons is phenomena. Thel, pure honesty and effortlessness is amazing.

He's got a point - I was so proud of Mandela going straight.
He did a great job with South Africa, the place is booming now. 😂

Right, it basically boils down to this: They are both very funny, but I think they appeal to different people. The US version is just a sitcom. A funny sitcom, but like a lot of others. The UK one is very subtle, veeeery realistic, and a lot more underplayed. The US one makes me actually laugh more, but the UK one moves me, makes me cringe, and makes me question myself all in the same scene. US version hilarious, UK version genius :)
this isn't the office but i kind of agree with most of that. however, i laugh out loud more at the uk office from what i remember of watching it 20 years ago.
Shitcom
Don't slag 'em off.
@@SamPendletonHe was slagging you off!
US version cringemaking UK version hilarious & genius
These guys work so well with one another.
Fantastic! Thanks for putting these vids on! Makes me laugh every time i watch them!
I liked the part where Stephen Mitchell thanked me for clicking on the video.
there's arrested development that even Ricky Gervais loves! American comedy does produce some gems!
"Will sir WILLIAM of GATES be at the interview"?
Bigturns33 too busy too busy
this is a gem, how have I never seen this?
"It also shows that prison works..." - great line!
How the hell have I missed this?? More David Brent - awesome!
These are great! Very funny glad I found them.
" It shows you that the Prison works!" Oh my god! When I finally stopped laughing, my side was hurting so bad I couldn't stand up. This David Brent is the most ingenious-asinine character of them all. What a shame this show only lasted 2 years! What a great Show! Thanks for posting. P.S Just like "Seinfeld." There is only one true "The Office" show. And this the British version! End of discussion.
7:00 - 7:30 is possibly one of Gervais's funniest 30 seconds of acting!
7.00 - 7.45 = most masterfully created 45 seconds in comedy history. Period.
Time management 👍
How haven't I ever seen this? Amazing
This has aged like fine wine. Fair play to Microsoft allowing themselves to have some fun poked at them.
They were actually annoyed that these were leaked (according to Wikipedia) as these were never meant to be seen. Not sure why they were filmed in the first place if that's true.
@@LifeOfRy Would have been a travesty if this was kept in a locked cupboard somewhere.

"That's probably while you've got a bump club, eh?"

Imagine watching this at the Microsoft conference. Must have been amazing,
This just made my day!
Totally brilliant!
“Fatigued through intercourse” 😂😂😂
Lol every time i hear Gervais as David Brent I automatically start laughing because I know the next thing that comes out of his mouth will be hilarious.
Thanks for sharing your opinion. It is truly valued.
Wow, I didn't even know this existed...new David Brent material. Me so happy
The Nelson Mandela stuff was insane!

At that point they had color screen, camera, internet
Comedy gold, make a series please 🙏🏻 😄
... Office... Brilliant!!
Now get back to work you little nerd!
Pretty depressing for Ricky that this Microsoft training video is infinitely better than the David Brent film.
Jonathan Drennan film is better (slightly)
Because Steve wasn’t involved
Jonathan Drennan he'll be devastated.
Merchant wrote it
No chance. The film was excellent. True Brent!
Please look at 2 minutes 40 seconds LMAO...
"Now David I know you have been looking closely at our Microsoft Values"...his reaction is absolutely priceless.Play that bit several times and watch his bemused eye movements.
Been watching comedy for 50 years and only Phil(Bilko)Silvers is in his League with expressions!..BRILLIANT:)
I don't know why, but I think the "Thanks" at the start is brilliant.
Love the bit at 2.38- Merchant says 'I know you've been looking at microsoft values' and the expression on Brent is brilliant- complete confusion
😂👍🤣
Genius
This is probably the best marketing Microsoft has ever done.
I wish this was in HD...
I reaaaally wish this was in HD .. it's my favourite thing they've done and I'm including XFM .. the works .
It was supposed to be included on a DVD reissue of the office but it never materialised. I suspect theres a few comments that are close to the wire but hopefully someday...
If ANYBODY has a better quality copy please reply.. I've been looking for EIGHT YEARS ;-)
***** Never in my life have I thought 'I wish this was in HD'...
@@FuckFeminists Cataracts, yeah?
These two were a great team and adding Karl Pilkington pretty much made them untouchable in comedy. Shame they don't work together anymore, I think it's obvious Ricky and Steve had a falling out and Karl just had enough of being the butt end of their jokes. You can just see from Life After Brent that Ricky just doesn't quite hit the mark without Merchant in his corner
this is awesome
Man, 13 years ago,,,, still gold though
"fatigued through intercourse" LOL!
To think this leaked accidentally is actually hilarious.
Brent is simply one of the most believable and real charterers in TV history, who hasn't met a bloke like this out in the working world?, or down the pub or even at school tbh.
How could anyone Not like this! It's pure F***in Genius!!!
If you're a lady and you wanna have a baby, have a baby. Social..
“Like myself, There’s no reason why you couldn’t utterly satisfy a woman within 20 to 30 minutes ...”
Steve tries not to laugh, especially at the bit he hadnt been honest about was the thieving part , lol
The extra long blink at 7:40 is gold.
I thought id seen everything they did with Brent etc but cant recollect seeing this, when was this made in relation to the 2 series?
This was made by Ricky for Microsoft but Ricky would only agree to do them if they were never shown to the public.
He was pretty annoyed when they were...
It was made around 2004, so after both the series and the special. Apparently, Microsoft paid a six-figure sum for their involvement (not sure if they got that new Mondeo though.)
Thanks for the info guys, you think your an avid fan til you meet other more knowledgeable people!
Ahh, Nostalgia....when Ricky Gervais was still funny.
*****
Well I think hes crap these days, used to be really funny., now hes a tired cliche of his former characters.
You may still think hes funny..good for you...I dont however.
If you watch him in the 2009 comic relief sketch when he tries to recreate David Brent, he really struggles....in "Life on the Road"...it was like watching Alistair McGowan do David Brent...
He let fame go to his head n became a cunt. But at least he created the best comic character, probably of all time.
tiarnan just to be clear the office was a co creation of gervaise and merchant
You are right m8.
It's always the same....build them up and then get tired of them....that's why I love the video on You Tube where they cuss their fans. Hilarious....
30 years in captivaty 😂😂😂
Nobody seems to have mentioned the "Thanks" intro from Steve, a nod to cheesy old American videos of the past. Genius.
Epic Irony! Microsoft Employee: "I've got no passion for the technology." I go; "Ahmm... I've just màde this right?" Im in the shop. "I love the customer though!" You come in and go; "Ooh can I buy that?' I go; "Yes, offcourse you can! Your glasses look nice, I like your hair. You want this do ya?
