Great vid man made up it's been updated with better audio. I've recently just learnt skating backwards and can do forwards crossovers only been skating 5-6 months and right now i'm trying to get my head around the backwards crossovers 😅 this vid has been great help tho appreciate it i always tend to find myself coming back to this vid lol wish i would have learnt when i was younger i'm 36yo now but aye it's never to late 😂
Never too late! Build the Base... the skills scaffold on top! Way more fun in the long run. Start with balance. If you are interested... I have an online skating course that focuses primarily on establishing your balance. After that... the skills fall into place. Good luck!
Man I have tried and tried these and I just can’t seem to get my balance. It’s really odd. If I am skating forwards straight, I can go up on one leg balanced all the way down the ice. If I’m skating backwards then try to lift either leg to glide up on 1 foot… Forgettaboutit!!! I mean I can’t lift a foot up off the ice for 2 seconds while going backwards without having to slam it back on the ice to catch my unbalanced self. I think that’s a pretty tell tale that I’m not ready for backwards crossovers yet.
Balance is the key. Until that is settle, the techniques don't really matter. I have two options. You can take a look at this video (ruclips.net/video/tW65xSUdTWM/видео.html). It's one of my videos about how to find that balance off-ice. Start with this tip. Then, if you want to go deeper, I also have an entire course devoted to developing better on-ice balance. You can download the audio onto your phone and follow along at a Stick Time or Free Skate sessuion (www.kellianhockey.com/balance-training-for-skating).
The sound quality of your first video was not that bad. This one is not much better. Btw, I'm still at it… I slowly get my balance on that inside leg, but it's not yet that pretty… You make it look like much easier than it really is!
The learning curve in this game is so frustratingly slow. The other piece is time on skates. How many times a week are you able to work specifically on balance and skating techniques? When I played in college, pro and then as a skill development coach, it's pretty much every day. That's the reality unfortunately... time on the skates working on this stuff. Work on balance first. The rest comes. I currently have an online skating course posted that walks you through balance training that you could do everytime you step on the ice. Even as your warm up for a couple of minutes before a game. www.kellianhockey.com. Check out the Online Video series: Hockey Skills Mastery: The Secret to Smooth and Powerful Skating: Balance Training.
Great video. As a 50's something who just started a few years ago, I need these videos. Keep them coming. Working on this tomorrow.
This is a great video, can't wait to try these suggestions

I know eh? All I did was watch the older kids for something cool and tried to figure it out. Lots of good information out there.
