Our priest at the beginning of holy Mass he always announced no receiving in TONGUE. That's why we moved to Traditional Latin Mass few months ago. So we can receive Jesus by kneeling and TONGUE. Even the SSPX is far away from our place every Sunday we drove 2 hours just receive Jesus in proper way. TLM is so holy we were so blessed. Praise to you oh Lord Jesus Christ. Amen
I agree on receiving Jesus on the tongue and even kneeling. But as Catholics, we can't receive Communion in sspx. That would be unfaithful to our Eucharistic Lord. God Bless.
shouldn't you report the priest to the usccb? you should have the option of either on the tongue or in the hands, and priest should accommodate that. At my parish, some receive on tongue, some kneel and receive on the tongue, and majority receive in the hands and priest just fine either way.
From the stories of Padre Pio, it is said that he would instruct the Guardian Angels to keep any pieces of the Body of Christ from falling on the floor. When I go to Mass I ask my guardian angel to ask the other guardian angels to help keep the Body of Christ from falling. Thank you Father. Many blessings to everyone and answers to your prayers.
It is a mark of respect to receive our lord Jesus kneeling and on the tongue as I did when I made my first holy communion. It is a union . A very special one . To remind me that Jesus died on the cross for our sins . And my respect to Jesus is to bow , kneel and receive and that is where the heart is. 🙏
In the early days of Christianity, kneeling was reserved for confession and penitence, while standing to receive communion was a symbol of the stance of the resurrection. If you want to kneel than that's fine, but it's not good to judge others who stand as not being reverent.
Warning !!!Very liberal and confusing ,justifying ideas that this priests is sharing. First of all, the fact the Church is allowing it doesnt justify us, we are oblidge to belived and accept doctrines inn terms of faith and morals when defined as infallible. But we are not oblidge to follow all types of approvals norms of dicipline contrary to our Faith ( its contrary because as CATOLICS WE BELIEVE THAT JESUS IS IN THE EUCARIST ,AND THEREFORE OUR EXPRESSION OF THIS TRUTH SHOULD BE EXPRESSED AS SO. BUT WHEN RECEIVIG HIM, STANDING AND ON NTHE HAND , WE MANIFEST BY THIS QCTION A DIFFERENT FAITH , AS IF JESUS Isp JUST A COOKIE , MERELY PHYSICAL FOOD. , communion on the hand was before allowed only on centain OCASSIONS AND ON extraordinary circunmstances , and they would have to get specific permission in order to be able to DO SO. NOW liberals are excusing themselves getting part of history taking out of context ,as an excuse to dimish the Value of The presence of God, and to justify their impious actions. Of course the Eucarist touches part of our body by touching our tonge, but is the most secure way to conssume it and protect it, from profanation. As the faith of the church is that JESUS IS IN EVERY PARTICLE WHOLE ,BLOOD,BODY, SOUL AND DIVINITY. This priest is also " teaching " in a very wrong way , about baptisim and our sharing in the life of Christ. In baptism we become adopted children of God , its diferent sacrament than that of Holy orders ( for priests) The sharing of profet, king and priest is obtained, but not as the ministery of priesthood,Thats only by the sacrament of holy orders( this are to different sacraments ) with a diferent Sacramental Grace and different duties involved.Too sad this priest do not undertand his unique Sacred ministry.
As a former Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Eucharist I now only receive on the tongue and kneeling. From my experience, I saw many abuses and it broke my heart. The last thing the Holy Spirit showed me was a Eucharistic minister in my former parish drop the Host and a scramble ensued with laughter as the Precious Host lay on the floor. I truly believe that there is NO need for Eucharistic ministers and also that the laity have no need of partaking of the Precious Blood. Not only would that eliminate many abuses and end the casual atmosphere of Holy Communion in many churches, but it would increase reverence and belief in the Real Presence. I have seen this and believe it to be true. Stop the widespread use of laypeople distributing the Eucharist and Bring Back the Communion Rail!!! Please at the Shrine, reinstall the rail!!!
When i was offerred to be a eucharistic minister, i refused & said that only priest should give communion because their hands were annointed for this purpose. I also made sure that my family go to a priest for communion & not from a eucharistic minister. Even when the church has only a few church goers, there are still a lot of eucharistic minister for the mass & mostly women. They also would take over in the midst of the priest giving communion & the priest allows it. I left the novos ordo church & finally found a latin mass church 30 minutes away & theres always confession before & after each mass unlike in novos ordo where you have to make appt or be there on saturdays only one hr before 5 pm mass & not all intending to confess are able to do so. Before the novos ordo, mass was already in latin, yet people forgot about it & complain they dont understand when theres english translation of the mass in the missal.
Absolutely agree with everything you have said. When I said I wouldn’t receive from an extraordinary minister on another comment, I was told , people are leaving the church because of my attitude! The reverence and respect for the Eucharist has been lost and I too feel this all began when the communion rail was removed and people now stand to receive our Lord. I also feel extraordinary ministers are used far too often. Why are they necessary? The church didn’t have them for over 1500 years!
i don't believe they really look deeply into anything anymore. They are too busy. they just tell you it was in the hand in the beginning but don't tell you why it was changed to the tongue and why did it last for about 2000 years? then they wanted to go back to hand. WHY change a good thing? the more we bring Jesus to our level, we lose the respect and possibly not even believe Jesus is really present in the Holy Eucharist. Wasn't it said that in the presences of our Lord knees will bend. Railings were taken from us, why? don't they believe in the presence. After studying the faith, I found out it was changed to tongue because of the same things that are going on now. disrespect and easy access to take host for black masses. I heard of a guy showing his son or someone to watch him flip the host to his mouth. I could go on and on because I am so upset. I just asked a priest a question and it was like I was trying to change the faith and people. AND THAT WASN'T MY INTENTION AT ALL. People look for the answers yourself but pray for guidance From our Mother And our Lord.
What the priest said at the end is what I consider is what's wrong " the church is here to accommodate you" Kneeling in the tongue is the least we should do for having the blessings to receive Christ.
Linda Delgado, I am in California and I ONLY receive Our Lord in the tongue and on my knees, even during these times. Ask your priest for this, if he denies it then seek a Traditional Latin Mass. This is The True Body of Christ, there shouldn't be any other way to receive Our Lord, most reverent in the tongue and on our knees. My Lord, I believe You are truly present in The Holy Eucharist. 🙏
Just because it is ‘alright’ to receive our Lord in my hand I will still choose to only receive Him directly on my tongue while kneeling down. When I was denied this way, I sadly recited the ‘act of spiritual Communion.’ And I will only receive from a priest or Bishop or deacon! I have disrespected the Lord for the past 5 decades and will cease & desist from now on. Unfortunately Fr Allen did not mention the minute particles of our Lord’s Body that could remain on the hand if that is the chosen way. Where do these particles go then? The floor to be stepped on which is a sacrilege! Is it no wonder that most supposed Catholics (70%) do NOT believe in the True Presence of Christ in the Eucharist because of how casually we approach this Sacrament. Also not mentioned is the manner in which we are dressed. Are we in modest attire in order to show that we are before the greatest King of Kings? Or are we showing off skin or wearing body hugging clothes, flip flops, or in sloppy gear with no consideration for the importance of the Mass? And how about making sure we do NOT received Communion if we have not confessed our mortal sin(s) to a priest beforehand? To receive our Savior worthily in a state of Grace is an important prerequisite. I am shocked at the number of people who routinely present themselves for Communion when they do not regularly go to Confession unless they have no grave sins whatsoever, which is highly doubtful. Even the saints went to Confession often, more than the bare minimum prescribed (once a year during Easter). Why do most people assume they are ‘entitled’ to receive Communion just because they attended Mass? Where is the awe and trembling as we go before the True Presence? I get the need to be charitable but please, clarity with charity is what is needed. Do not water down the faith because that puts all our souls in danger. Set the bar high just in case we fall, we will still have a chance at salvation.
God bless you! Your words are beautiful. I was going to comment on this topic, but you have said everything I wanted to say, and more. And better! Ave Maria! 💕✝🌹🐟
There was a priest in another country who recently had a vision, during Mass, that showed him that God wants people ONLY received on the tongue and while kneeling. The priest was visibly affected, and announced that Holy Communion will thenceforth be on given on the tongue. While receiving in the hand may be permitted, I believe is not God's preference. Why not please God by receiving the way HE wants us to?
I struggle with why Pope Benedict did not institute this practice when he was Pope. He prefers the proper form but to my understanding, felt people would know the proper form rather than make it a ‘rule’.
On the tongue... in the hand it makes it easy for it to be stolen used for desecration. Particles drop and than trampled on..... In the hand! And we wonder why over 70% of Catholics do not believe in the true presence of Christ, Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Lord....
A priest in South America Colombia, had a vision of Christ crying asking him to tell people to please not receive Communion on the hand. He saw how many particles fell to the ground, and how they were Jesus. This priest means well, but he is sadly mistaken. We are meant to receive Jesus on the tougue, kneeling, in complete reverence to who we are receiving, Jesus Christ Son of the Living God, who came in the flesh. We must pray for our liberal priest brothers, that they will receive the Holy Spirit.
@@jeannerichmond687 Not the only time Christ in private revelations has reveal ,he said the Church leaders are goin to held accountable, but it doesnt mean the faithful wont be aswell . 🤯

Kneeling is the proper way, and that is the way it was until Vatican II, then most churches eliminated the kneeling area.. My church has the kneeling area and everyone receives it kneeling, unless they are physicall unable to kneel. Vatican II changed many things, some of which I really did not like, such as the Sign of Peace and the singing. I am very traditional.
The Marians are awesome! They do not divide the Church by going all radtrad - they speak the Truth as the truth needs to be spoken. The Marians do it with obedience and grace - what awesome Shepherds! Up and down the Internet I see and hear one divisive comment after the next all in the name of "being reverent and holy" while being disobedient to their superiors, the Church, Catholic Counsels, the Bible - God have mercy! Jesus taught us to do all things out of love. St Paul said that anything done without love is but a noisy gong. How loud the gongs are sounding out today! Stick with the Marians - they hold fast to the true Catholic doctrine while doing so with love and mercy. Jezu ufam Tobie!!!
Vatican II never intended we receive in the hand. It is my understanding that several rebellious US bishops introduced the practice shortly after the implementation of Vatican II. Communion in the hand was therefore allowed so the faithful would not be committing sacrilege. Over the years Iv'e seen the the ciborium dropped by lay faithful, contents of the chalice spilled during Mass and walked on, multiple times hosts have been dropped on the ground, and many times fragments have broken in my hand so that I had to lick my hand in public. I now only receive on the tongue because I feel this is a disgraceful way to treat Our Lord.
Protestants were the first to do Communion on the hand as a way of diminishing the belief in the Eucharist. Even before the Church allowed it as an exception in places where it was past practice….So in the 1970’s some radical bishops without Vatican approval started distributing in the tongue….to establish a history of “past practice”
21. In approaching therefore, come not with your wrists extended, or your fingers spread; but make your left hand a throne for the right, as for that which is to receive a King. And having hollowed your palm, receive the Body of Christ, saying over it, Amen. So then after having carefully hallowed your eyes by the touch of the Holy Body, partake of it; giving heed lest you lose any portion thereof; for whatever you lose, is evidently a loss to you as it were from one of your own members. For tell me, if any one gave you grains of gold, would you not hold them with all carefulness, being on your guard against losing any of them, and suffering loss? Will you not then much more carefully keep watch, that not a crumb fall from you of what is more precious than gold and precious stones? 22. Then after you have partaken of the Body of Christ, draw near also to the Cup of His Blood; not stretching forth your hands, but bending, and saying with an air of worship and reverence, Amen, hallow yourself by partaking also of the Blood of Christ. And while the moisture is still upon your lips, touch it with your hands, and hallow your eyes and brow and the other organs of sense. Then wait for the prayer, and give thanks unto God, who has accounted you worthy of so great mysteries. (St. Cyril of Jerusalem [c. 313-386], Catechetical Lectures, 23:21-22)
It has been proven much too often that receiving in the hand only leads to too many abuses (dropping on the floor in the pews, taken for evil purposes and more) plus only the priests' fingers are consecrated. In the hand SHOULD NOT BE DONE, PERIOD.
The current Church teaching is trying to water down the faithful, and whom as the video indicates brings their hands up to the mouth to consume Our Lord, NOBODY. Everyone takes in their hand and puts it in their mouth. And where do the Lord's fragments go? With a Platen to catch the remnants of our Lord (God) they wind up on the floor, in your hands on your clothing etc. That is the main reason why I am against it. But I have other reasons. I have seen first hand people dropping the host as they attempt to place it in their mouth and WALKING AWAY! Leaving our Lord on the ground. I have found hosts on the ground when arriving early for Mass. It is truly sickening to me,. So no don't give me that "the Church" says it is ok. It is watered down Christianity and is another reason why 70-80% of the people don't believe it is the true presence of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Sorry to Rant on this) - Michael Kern
@@couchgamingnews9379 : The Church also says that it is OK just to go to Confession and receive Holy Communion once a year, but most Catholics would agree that it's a good idea to go more frequently!
What really speaks to me is from St. Faustina’s diary from her notebook 1, so early on, entry line 160. Here, St. Faustina describes when on a First Friday when her duty was to pray that no sacrilege be committed, that a Host fell into her hands, and that she heard the words from the Host: ‘I desired to rest in your hands, not only in your heart’. Our hands do good works, our tongues can profane…and vice versa. Our Lord desires us to love Him, be attentive to Him and revere Him at our moment of receiving Him😊
Thanks you for sharing from St. Faustina's diary. That really is comforting to know. I appreciate your including the entry line. I will read that again. God bless you! :)
Its important to read that in context. St Faustina was also allowed to receive Holy Communion when she was sick in bed directly from a Seraphim! She was so pure and pleasing to God because of her great humility and self-immolation that she is only one of 2 saints known to have seen a Seraphim! So, it seems to me that to compare Our Lord's words to her as being said to us is an accurate comparison.
Yes, but St.Faustina never actually made her Holy Communion in the hand, but always on the Tongue, this was only when she was praying, not receiving Him during Holy Mass. Plus She is a Saint, having the invisible stigmata. We are just poor sinners. If the falling of the particles of the Sacred Host on the ground being trod on is not alarming then what is?? How can we pretend to be consoling Jesus when at the same time we are trampling Him underfoot. How can we casually stamp on our own God who is so highly and fearfully adored by choirs of angels and saints?? I urge you my Catholic sisters and brothers, defend Jesus in the Eucharist, promote and practice Communion on the TONGUE. And even kneeling if possible. Defend your Jesus who has made Himself so vulnerable in the Eucharist. ❤
@@stevenlotz8755you should definitely try to talk them out of it and explain to them that its a mortal sin and a sacrilige if they receive it while in a state of mortal sin, which is likely if they havent been to Confession in years. Canon law says the Faithful should not be denied communion on the Tongue- A lot of sacrileges and diminish in the believe of the real presence of Jesus body blood soul and divinity in the Eucharist as a result of the the casual way it is received on the Hand - May God help his church
Jesus HANDED the Apostles His Body at the Last Supper. They received in the hand. St. Justin Martyr, early Church Father, about 100 years after Christ, described how the earliest Christians received Christ and it is the same as in 400 AD when St. Cyril writes: “make your left hand a throne for your right hand, since the latter is to receive the King." Take, also, the teaching of Jesus to the Pharisees, who were OBSESSED with “purity” of the hands and insisted that no utensils, dishes or food-related stuffs be touched before the ritual purifying of the hands (a ritual imposed by men, not by God). Jesus called them out for their hypocrisy & for creating man made rituals but neglecting the actual teachings of God/the Law. People always claim that it’s more “reverent” to receive on the tongue, but how are our rude, impatient, angry, inappropriate, lying mouths somehow more pure than our hands? I don’t know about you, but I cannot remember the last time I sinned with my hands. As Scripture says, what is in the heart will issue forth from the heart, and the sin in our hearts is what defiles. Scripture & Holy Mother Church teach us that we are, after baptism, a nation of prophets, etc, a royal priesthood, a ppl set apart. The notion that we are not “worthy” to receive in our hands is one that stems from Clericalism, a very unhealthy practice that stems from the heresy of Jansenism from more recent history. If you follow that line of thinking, then we are NEVER worthy - ever - and should not be allowed to receive on ANY part of our body. Thank God, it doesn’t rely on OUR “worthiness”. Thanks to God’s Mercy, He tore the veil & allows us to approach Him because Jesus paid the price for our sins and imputed His worth into us through His Holy Spirit. The “debate” over hands vs. mouth is just Satan leading us into temptation because it leads to condemnation, criticism & self-righteousness on the part of those who think their way is “better”. Pharisaical much? Neither is better, both are acceptable. Cuz the Church has said so from the beginning. And FINALLY... either we believe that the Church is our Mother or we don’t. We believe Christ that the gates of Hell shall never prevail or we don’t. The Church (especially the earliest Christians) teaches that Jesus’ Body is present in our Bread. The same Church teaches it’s acceptable to receive in the mouth AND the hand. Who are we to supersede the Church based on our preferences?
@Gabriel Lekeflac: Please cite the paragraph to support your claim. Citing which editions of the Code of Canon Law that you are referring to would be a plus, also!
@@a.j.4559 although I agree with the spirit of your comment, and there may not be a singular reason why post V2 and the changes in liturgical rites+gestures. It is evident the RCC has almost dematerialized in front of us. The fruits of V2 in terms of Eucharistic renewal has fallen short. Is it catechesis? Experimentation? Why only 30% Believe in the Real Presence (+then skewed to the older folks)? The distribution rites of Holy Communion have varied over time. It is with a heavy heart Pope Paul-6th allowed the indult as it arose from disobedience in the discipline of practice with the majority of bishops (over 2100) NOT wanting to change the manner of reception. See Abp Bugnini 975page tome on the reform of the liturgy. The final vote was 2/3% no change. I personally believe what is in your heart matters but gestures and form do make a difference. The degree of abuse (lost particles, popping the Host into one's mouth, taking it, losing it etc-the risks of 'in hand' are more pronounced) there was even an auction for a JP2 20th anniversary consecrated Host on eBay fetching $2,000usd by a non-believer tourist who received twice that day. Bottom line, we all need to approach the Altar of divine sacrifice, an Altar of deicide remembering who is there opening His Heart of infinite love and mercy, who will not impose Himself on our human free will, but only desires 'co-union' with His children.

It could still fall on floor taking it on the tongue. The priest sometimes doesn't put it on your tongue right. This happened to me a few weeks ago. I caught it before it feel out of my mouth.
@@triciagarea9576 Yes , I’ve seen that happened. But the person can pick it up quickly, as opposed to particles that fall unnoticed and stay on the floor unnoticed. I think I will receive on the tongue as long as I am allowed. Not better or holier than anyone else here. 😊 It just feels it is right for me.
I will always receive Jesus on my tongue and kneeling down. This is how the angel gave the Body of Christ to the children in Fatima and garabandal on their tongue because that’s the only and utmost reverent way.
I believe this misses very important facts about receiving on the hand. Are your hands clean? Did you ensure every single particle was consumed, or did you not and then leave fragments of our Blessed Lord on the pew, on the floor? Do you receive on the hand because you don't understand the just reverence or the risks, or because it makes you feel uncomfortable? My belief is receiving on the hand diminishes how we perceive the enormity of the gift, or else we would never do it. On your knees, on the tongue. Blessed be.
Also, the hands of "Extraordinary Ministers" hands are NOT consecrated. No wonder according to a recent PEW poll, 70% of practicing Catholics do not believe Jesus Christ is in the Eucharist- body, blood, soul, and divinity!! In my opinion, it's an abomination to receive our Lord in such a disrespectful manner.
He forgot the most important thing: we must RECEIVE communion ONLY when we are in a state of GRACE… CONFESSION is very IMPORTANT before we receive communion.
True reverence to a king is shown by our demeanor, our dress, and our posture. We ought to be in a position of humility, which is shown by kneeling, and receiving on the tongue. This is God after all under the appearance of a consecrated host. I think our Lord deserves our respect by the way we receive him during communion. After all, he died for your sins and mine. The least we could do is get on our knees to thank him for this gift of grace. Our liturgical gestures matter...there is true meaning in every liturgical gesture during the mass, especially kneeling and receiving on the tongue.

Why don't you quote the rest of what St. Cyril said? For instance, he said to touch the Eucharist to our eyes. He also said to be careful so that no particle is lost. We don't do either of those things. No one checks their hands for particles. No one touches the Eucharist to their eyes. You are cherry picking a part of what St. Cyril said while ignoring the rest. Please look it up and read the whole passage of what he said.
I really liked this explanation. In my heart I feel that Jesus does not want us to cause division over how we receive Holy Communion. By tongue or by hand is not the issue, the question is whether or not we are approaching Him with true reverence and an open heart. Have we forgiven people in our lives or are we harboring resentment? Have we made amends with people whom we’ve hurt? I believe that this is more important to Jesus than if we receive on the tongue or in the hands. May God Bless you all! 🙏🏻❤️
The Most Great and satisfying comment I've read so far. Division is not the key, others Just have no choice because there's no available TLM masses or any mass who allowed receiving on the Tounge due to Plandemic. Just like me, it's better to receive Jesus in the Hands, with full reverend and humility, than not receiving him at all. God Bless us
@@baborsherwindarrylt.52 my problem is I’ve seen comments of people saying if the Priest is only doing by hand and not by tongue than that it is better not to receive the Eucharist and that to me is wrong, if you can’t receive by tongue according to your Priest than at least receive by Hand but don’t deny the Body of Christ when it is available to you. 🙏🏼✝️
@@rockynot1023 Yes, sadly some people are too meticulous that they tend not to receive Eucharist at all than to receive it by hand. Like come on, the church approved it, and it is considered valid because of some circumstances. But of course we like to accept Jesus by tounge, but if I will choose between hand or nothing at all. It's better to receive by hand, than never received him.
Amen! I love this comment. The Church approved receiving communion on the hand. It is allowed. I wish I could receive it , with all my heart. But I can't. I am divorced. It breaks my heart. I cry everytime I say the spiritual communion prayer. If you can, do it.
Think that one over. When receiving in the hand how can one believe that the Host is really Jesus present Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity. It is said that 60 per cent do not believe the transubstiation .
The universal law of the Latin rite is that we receive Communion on the tongue. To receive in the hand is an indult that does not exist in most parts of the world. The Vatican promotes Communion on the tongue not only for its long tradition but because it “expresses the faithful’s reverence for the Eucharist” and “removes the danger of profanation of the sacred species” (Memorial Domini 1277).
Jesus HANDED the Apostles His Body at the Last Supper. They received in the hand. St. Justin Martyr, early Church Father, about 100 years after Christ, described how the earliest Christians received Christ and it is the same as in 400 AD when St. Cyril writes: “ make your left hand a throne for your right hand, since the latter is to receive the King." Take, also, the teaching of Jesus to the Pharisees, who were OBSESSED with “purity” of the hands and insisted that no utensils, dishes or food-related stuffs be touched before the ritual purifying of the hands (a ritual imposed by men, not by God).
@@a.j.4559 Yes described which hand to use Can't imagine St Paul's new Catholics all putting their tongues out either or why would he have to tell them not to eat their ordinary food in church
@@a.j.4559 It is Not a "preference" to receive Jesus in The Eucharist on my knees and on my tongue. It is my duty out of respect to do so. In the history of the Roman Catholic Church, during the period from 1378 to 1417, there were two, and later three, rival popes, each with his own following, his own Sacred College of Cardinals, and his own administrative offices. If tomorrow "The Church" announced that it is acceptable for Catholics to jump off bridges, am I to follow that edict as well? There is a point where "right" and common sense must prevail over all else. Finally, since The Apostles at The Last Supper were in fact the first Priests of The Church, that example for receiving "in the hand" cannot be used.
@@donaldwatson3176 it’s not a duty. It’s an implicit denial of the Incarnation or Transubstantiation. Christ cannot literally be profaned. When Jesus touches something that should make Him impure, such as a dead body or a the woman with the hemorrhage, He does not become impure, but instead the dead are raised and people are healed. He is the inverse of the old purity laws. This is even more true for His resurrection body, which is the beginning of the New Creation. In this sense it is metaphysically and ontologically impossible to profane Christ Himself. Instead, profaning the Eucharist is a reference to either our intention or our complete carelessness. So if one wishes to receive the Eucharist on the tongue, and doing this helps them to be more disposed to receiving Christ, then it makes sense that they do so. But in no way is this universal or a duty. So insisting on the absolute requirement of consecrated hands to touch the Eucharist does not fit what the gospels present to us about Christ.
Read a comment recently where demons told an exorcist that the demons rejoice when the dogs, (us) paw all over the Nazarene, (Jesus). I'll be receiving on the tongue no matter who says what!
I read a long time ago, when they 1st said for people to receive in the hand. ( which at 1st I did), it was an article about the demon responsible for communion in the hand, after I read this I refuse to take communion this way. I don't know if it was true but just in case it was. The article was very graphic & blunt
Father there was a miracle to a priest in Columbia during mass he broke down and when he get back,he told people from now on no more communion by the hand.Virgin Mary also said in her message that is sacrilege. It is sad to know that the Blessed Mother has been going around the world giving messages, warnings and what to do to avoid chastisement and prepare for the second coming of Christ, but our church treat it with cold shoulders. It took so long for the church to approve apparitions of Virgin Mary. Why is our church not following Virgin Mary?Look at Fatima, they consecrate Russia but it’s too late. Now we have to face the o sequence.Even the third secret of Fatima was never revealed to the public. Thanks for your explanation.
Kneeling and receiving the Holy Eucharist on the tongue is more appropriate than receiving on the hand. I'm glad that our parish priest allows us to receive Holy Communion on our tongues.
We pray that the public reverence and worship of the Eucharist, including through the respectful receipt of the Eucharist lingually and kneeling, will only increase.
Thank you, Fr. Allen for your explanation and I understand better what the Church teaches on this. I wish our priests would explain it more often as a reminder. However, as a Cantor who sings near the altar, I witness many abuses of those receiving in the hand. If only people followed what you just explained. I have witnessed people popping the Eucharist in their mouth like candy or dropping it. Receiving it and rubbing it between their fingers all the way to their pew and then consuming it. I have watched as non-Catholics have come up to communion at a First Communion, Confirmation Mass, Wedding, or Funeral and take the host and put it in their pocket! I once came out of church going to my car and found a host laying in the empty parking space next to my car!!! The recent Pew Research Report noted that 31% of U.S. Catholics believe in the real presence. There is truly a lack of reverence for receiving the Eucharist. I believe it is because many no longer believe that it is Truly the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ. Jesus said He is the Living Bread come down from Heaven. I believe in the Real Presence, and for this reason, I will continue to receive the Eucharist on the tongue. Lastly, let us not forget what the Angel asked the Fatima children to pray when he brought them the Eucharist and Precious Blood suspended in the air...He and the children prostrated and said: “Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, I adore Thee profoundly. I offer Thee the precious Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges, and indifferences by which He is offended. Through the infinite merits of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg the conversion of poor sinners.”
As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be world with out end. I will stick to the tongue. Let's be skeptical about new things ...God's things never change
Because of the pandemic, rules have changed making people receive in the hand, in some states. It is no longer the people’s fault. I don’t believe they should stop receiving communion because of this reason. I’m sure the Lord will understand, in the cases where the Church has dictated it this way. It’s an act of obedience. But people should still kneel and show reverence.
I was brought up to receive the Eucharist on the tongue and NEVER EVER touch it.Only the priest has the right to do it!We were taught respect way back when and I wish this way of doing things would come back and be taught to young children again! Those were the good times!
Let them know this. Wear white gloves when you receive the eucharist. Let them know you will not accept this. My priest Refuses to give eucharist on tongue. I will protest this, and I hope others will also.
Thank you, Father for settling this issue about the reception of our Blessed Lord. Some visionary allege that Jesus gets upset when we receive Him in our hands, so thank you for shedding light on this contentious issue. From Australia.
When I made my first Holy Communion.my Nun teacher told the class to make sure nothing touched the precious body and blood of ovr saviour the nuns had great respect for the holy host the respect is not there anymore.people are leaving the C Church because there is no one leading with the same respect.it's like anything goes . We have to get back to believing and knowing that God is in the host and treat it as though he is my hands are not blessed nor are they clean . By the time I get to church my hands have touched my body money maybe tied laces fixed hairband many other things.any you expect us to put out our dirty hands and receive THE MOST PRECIOUS BODY INTO THEM. IT'S A SHAME ON YOU WHO PUSH FOR THIS CHANGE .. 😮😢🙏
I was on the First communion few days ago, and one little girl merrily brought Eucharist in the pew, so her mother can take a picture of her holding Eucharist. Bishop, that gave her Eucharist is big promotor of "Covid rules", and did not check that child consumed the Eucharist! Sacrilege!!!
That child and that mother obviously never received good training in the faith, it is the bishop and the religious instructors who are to blame here. I agree with you that Communion in the hand is wide open to abuses.
i was in a parish where the priest would give one guy communion and then give him a second one and he would put it in his shirt pocket so he could give it to his mother
So sad for the mother will have much to answer to. Yes definitely a sacrilege. Shame on the Bishop and much prayers for both who are leading this child in the wrong direction. Have Mercy Lord. Praise Jesus in the Most Holy Blessed Eucharist.
Actually, the Archdiocese of San Francisco had the notice in it's website that canon law specifies Communion on the tongue, although in the hand is permitted. My parish allows those receiving on the tongue to go at the end. I was refused at another parish and took the documents from the diocese to them. Now if I go there I can receive on the tongue but am asked to wait until the end.
I'm relatively new to the church (week 3 of RCIA) but the amount of arguments I have seen on this online has been pretty disheartening with Catholics lashing out at each other. I can see where both sides are coming from but the vitriol happening seems pretty unchristian. This video made some good points and was very helpful for me. God bless 🙏
Dear Fr.Allen one important aspect is missing in your explanation. While receiving on the hands what about the tiniest particles that fall on the floor, everybody stepping over our Lord and it is a sacrilege. Father with all humility I am telling. May God forgive me a sinner.
Fr. You very respectfully answered the question. But on two occasions I saw let’s call it a vision,I don’t know, but what seemed to be The Sacred Host was on the persons tongue. I had been receiving Holy Communion on my hands since Vatican 2. Made me think I should be receiving Holy Communion kneeling and on the tongue.
Saint Thomas Aquinas spoke to the question in his Summa Theologica. “The dispensing of Christ’s Body belongs to the priest for three reasons. “First, because he consecrates in the person of Christ. But as Christ consecrated His Body at the (Last) Supper, so also He gave It to others to be partaken of by them. Accordingly, as the consecration of Christ’s Body belongs to the priest, so likewise does the dispensing belong to him. “Second, because the priest is the appointed intermediary between God and the people, hence as it belongs to him to offer the people’s gifts to God, so it belongs to him to deliver the consecrated gifts to the people. “Third, because out of reverence for this Sacrament, nothing touches It but what is consecrated; hence the corporal and the chalice are consecrated, and likewise the priest’s hands for touching this Sacrament. Hence, it is not lawful for anyone else to touch It, except from necessity, for instance, if It were to fall upon the ground or else in some other case of urgency.” (ST, III, Q.82, Art. 13) Thomas allows that a deacon might be granted the privilege by bishop or priest in case of need. And that deacons may give the blood ordinarily. The practices in place now were never given assent by this Doctor of the Church.
Thank you Father Alan for your wonderful explanation. And thanks to you and All Our Marian Priests. I pray one day I will have the privilege of visiting and receiving the sacrament from one of Our Marian Priests.
Our tongue is not anointed but we receive on the tongue as there is no other way to consume our Lord. I am a former Extraordinary Minister and it hurt me much to see people receive on the hand then dust off their fingers on their clothes. I had to quit being a minister on a day when a man pretended to consume Our Lord but instead he put The Holy Eucharist in his shirt pocket . I went directly towards him and he denied it . Me being a woman who values Gods greatest gift confronted the man . I had to tell him that if he didn’t allow me to check his shirt pocket I would not allow him to walk out the door. The apostles received on the hand but in those times apostles represented todays priests. We should not modernize with new options just because certain church leaders have allowed it . Our Lord should always be first !!!We should just recite a spiritual communion if we feel nervous about receiving on the tongue. One tiny fragment of Our Lotd equals Our entire Lord so we should not have the option to be handling our lord from hand to hand to hand and then tongue????? The topic of our tongues being consecrated or not is irrelevant as how else can we consume our Lord if we don’t through our mouths ??? Let’s us givebOur lord the greatest reverence and respect by receiving on the tongue , on our knees and in the state of grace ❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️🌹
I always wanted to recieve Jesus on tongue but since covid strikes priests wont allow me. Before this scamdemic, 2 priests denied me recieving on tongue while on my knees.they looked scandalized. Lord, have mercy.😢😢😢
Sorry that happened to you! I feel for you...this is a sore topic. I would not receive in the hand; it is not hygienic, people put their hands on their masks constantly, rub eyes, in ears, through hair, rummaging through handbags handling money, scratching themselves in head, touching dirty clothes, tying shoelaces, wiping their eyeglasses, remove mask to blow nose etc this is just to name a few common issues I see at Masses. What gets me most is handling the masks that may be infected with bacteria and/any kind of virus -- then hold Jesus with same unclean hands, then pick up Jesus with the same unclean fingers. It is hard for priests not to touch hand/fingertips. I see it all the time. Even worse for some people is using sanitizer consuming toxic substance into their bodies daily. I understand why but their are many children sick from sanitizer having an allergic reaction. When we had previous viruses our classroom kiddos used to sniff their hands--not good they got sick. Sorry for the rant. If your heart tells you to receive your Lord on the tongue you should be allowed to. God bless your heart!
In our parish also. He made us wait until after the last blessing, he would walk to the back of the church then mostly the deacon would come back to those who wanted to receive at the rail & on the tounge. My brother asked him about it & told him it was stupid to do it like that..a couple of weeks later he changed it but still had to be the last one to receive But that's ok I don't mind being last
Some priest have become very liberal, we must pray for them, because they may lead others onto the wide path which leads to destruction . Why would a faithful priest become angry when someone shows honor, respect and love, for our Lord, in the Holy Eucharist by kneeling?
John the Baptist said he was not worthy to undo the sandle straps of Jesus's shoe! So who are we to hold him in our hands? We are to place ourselves in His hands, not the other way around. I don't care what this priest says!!!
Lately the lack of reverence is disturbing, I think. As time passes many are loosing reverence and consequently faith in that what we are really receiving, is the body of Christ. Many don’t even bow to the King, or kneel like in the old times, as a sign of reverence. I truly believe that this sends the wrong message. The lack of reverence, I believe is the reason why we are loosing faith in the presence of our Lord in the host. As for me, it took me a while to develop faith in the host. I believe it’s because of the common lack of reverence. As a child growing up, seeing people receiving the host in the hand, and standing, gave me the message that it wasn’t important. Many years have I struggled with believing in the presence of the Lord in the host. It wasn’t until I was an adult and thanks to the revelation of the saints, that I have a better understanding now. I try my best to show respect and reverence now, but it took a long time. I believe that not doing the proper respectful reverence to the king, emits a subtle message, that it’s just a piece of bread and representation
I really like Fr Chris Alar's take on this citing a mystic. Even if it's objectively wrong to touch the Eucharist with unconsecrated hands (As Aquinas said in the summa) The laity cannot be held accountable on it but the bishops who gave an indult are. The nuance and the fairness of judgement in my opinion makes this the most believable..
When you are baptized in the extraordinary form, the child's tongue is blessed with salt. One of the reasons why communion on the tongue is better. And exorcisms are performed as well to get rid of any dark forces attached to your family from your lineage. Things you don't want attached to your child.
Thank you Father for your clear, concise, and intelligent reasoning for the reception of the Eucharist on both the tongue and hand. I now have appropriate knowledge in which to respond to anyone who questions the validity of receiving Holy Communion in the hand. God bless you!
We moved to a new state this past winter. I called the priest at the local parish to discuss receiving on the tongue (since the website said hand ONLY). He basically told me I had a reverence problem and refused to minister on the tongue in any way, shape or form. I told him over my dead body. He said he'd hold a nice funeral Mass for me. Nashville Diocese. Needless to say, we drive further to another parish where the priest has no issue with it, as he shouldn't.
After reading many of these comments and the amount of likes on each comment it appears that kneeling and receiving on the tongue at the altar rail is what a majority of people believe we should go back to. I am certainly one in favor of kneeling and receiving on the tongue and bringing back the altar rails.
I’ve heard from a Catholic radio host stating her strong feelings of disgrace about some people in a particular Church she went to were receiving the Eucharist by their hands, then she started saying to petition for uniformity that we should ONLY receive the Eucharist by tongue. Well, I wouldn’t want to condemn anything what the Church has allowed. I think being a faithful Catholic means not only submitting to the Church teachings authoritatively but not demanding uniformity where the Church does allow diversity of opinion or custom. I don’t think it’s appropriate to condemn those who receive Eucharist in the hand but I can also understand somebody choosing not to do that. Thank you Father Allen for such a greatly-said explanation. God bless.🌹🤍
I prefer to receive on the tongue, but here [England] the Bishops have decreed that during the pandemic, we should receive in the hand. The Bishops have recently relaxed this, but some priests still prefer to give in the hand. I am obedient to the Bishops and priests. I have mentioned it to priests. To avoid fragments falling to the ground or getting wiped of on clothes etc, I lick my hand afterwards, in spite of the unpleasant taste of sanitiser.
As a Eucharistic Minister, I’m relieved that we can only receive on the hand. Many times I have got saliva from a communicant on my hand and worried about passing it on to the next person in line. I’m sure when Jesus instituted the Holy Eucharist he didn’t put the bread into the apostles mouths. Listen to this priest, no part of our bodies is consecrated more than another. You can do as much harm with your tongue as you can with your hand.
I totally disagree with you.. when you give on the tongue.. the priest hardly touch the tongue and especially when kneeling.. and this the proper way of receiving Jesus.
Your hands were not annointed & trained to distribute the body of our Lord meaning only priest should communicate because their hands are annointed. I never felt the the hand of any priest when receiving communion meaning that you should not in the 1st place be taking over the duty of a priest who acts as Christ. Christ is not a woman, therefore, you cant take over the role of a priest. Christ choose 12 men as his apostles not women. I was once offered to be a eucharistic minister & refused the offer where as a member of the "Eucharistic Fraternity" I would have been a good choice but my love and respect for our Lord & common sense tells me to opt out because i cant act as Christ.
Thank you so much father for explaining this difficult questions among the catholic Christian .Thank you God for giving us your daily bread.help us to understand more the miracles of the Eucharist
I walk to Jesus with my hands carrying all of my offerings to Him to exchange them all for Him. I offer Him everything, good and bad. Now, the walk to Holy Communion seems too short as I know I surely forgot to give Him something. I just hope He knows what it is and takes it for me. This has helped me to understand I need to be empty of everything so there is make room for Jesus to fill me with His Grace and Mercy.
Somebody please tell me what the significance of taking the host from your own hand with the opposite hand then putting it in your mouth is? There is absolutely no reason for this. Our hands are not consecrated like a priests...It seems to me like a defiance act "I'll do it myself!!"...like a toddler acts when they don't want you doing something. We are talking about the body..blood..soul..and divinity of Our Lord Jesus Christ!!!!!
You are right! Picking up food and placing it in our own mouth indicates control over how we choose to live. Power (pride) over our lives as opposed to submission (humility) to the will of God.
I like the old tradition better. I understand that we receive communion by hand during flu season. The problem is there’s numerous Eucharistic ministries who gives communion to people and their hands are not concentrated like the priest.
What a beautiful why to answer this question of receiving on the tongue or hand it is for myself is receiving christ body is humble if your heart loves christ for christ knows your heart and knows that your compassion and love for him.is.unconditionally let your heart and love discide.🙏
Well to be fair, the leaders of the Church can allow alot of things which, “technically” does not make them a sin, yet can still displease God greatly. Im disgusted with myself of all the times I walked up and grabbed Our Lord to put Him in my mouth like a potato chip. I didnt receive Him on my tongue or at least drop to one knee cause I was too embarrassed. Our Lord, THE CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSE, the same Lord who the pure and holy Angels worship without cease for eternity, humbles Himself to enter our filthy bodies yet it isn’t MANDATORY that we , lowly beings, drop to our knees and receive Him in the most reverent way possible?!? I hope that one day the ONLY option will be to receive Him on the tongue, and for those who are able, can kneel also. It will teach people reverence and a love for the Eucharist, (something I severely lack 😰 😰 ) so we can grow, with His graces, in Faith, Hope, and Charity.
Well said....I feel cheated out of my Inheritance, as well! I was taught in Novus Ordo Churches in the 70s, Imagen? BUT thanks to the internet and this "Plandemic"....I am being drawn to the TLM. ..especially after watching the Pope fail the faithful soooo so bad
You're making a mountain out of a mole hill. It doesn't matter that much that one receives communion in the hand because it's such a trivial thing. Where I come from, receiving communion on the hand is the norm. The Archbishop here has no problems with it at all.
“Make your left hand a throne for the right, as for that which is to receive a King. And having hollowed your palm, receive the Body of Christ, saying over it, Amen.”-- St. Cyril of Jerusalem (4th century).
Yes but the way St Cyril said to bring it to the mouth with hands cupped so as not to lose one fragment is not taught and lackadaisical haphazard handling of the blessed Eucharist occurs. Should always receive on the tongue!!!
@@dianesiesener8634 For economy of space, I chose not to include the entire quote. What is important is reverence. Is the tongue from which deceit and lying proceeds more sacred than the hands? I had the pleasure of living across the world. I lived where bishops send instruction to their parish priests to insure proper instruction on receipt of the Eucharist, including proper disposition. Do not come without teeth brushed and hands washed. Now Cardinal Burke requested a list of Extraordinary ministers who handled the host and chalice when he was ordained bishop. It takes a full year of formation where I lived in the Middle East to be allowed to serve as EMCH. Our Amen is acknowledgement not only that we are receiving Christ present in the Eucharist, but that we ourselves are members of the One Body of Christ, that is His Church. There are also those who, after instruction, take the pyx home to the home bound that they too may receive the Source and Summit of our Faith.
We are called to render all our reverence to Almighty God. Leviticus 6:20 direct us to receive Our Lord in the tongue only snd from consecrated hands. God bless you.
A priest here in Indonesia in cathedral just refused to give communion on the tongue. I knelt down and both my hands were clenched, and arrogantly forced to separate my hand and put the Host in my hand. I didnt wanna make a scene, so i took the Host and got up. Pope Francis will visit this church in September 😢
Thank you Father! Great video and great explanation. I prefer to receive on the tongue, but am obedient to my Bishop and parish priests. So grateful to receive Our Lord. Many countries were denied the Eucharist for months and months. I would imagine they would have wanted to receive Our Lord regardless. We can do so reverently, either way!! God bless everyone!! 🙏🏼💕🦋🌷🕊
I believe only on the tongue... IT IS OUR LORD JESUS' HOLY BODY ... BEFORE RECEIVING I SAY MY LORD MY GOD ... THEN I BOW AND THEN SAY AMEN .. THEN DO THE SIGN OF THE CROSS ...
Fr. Allen, thank you for your explanation of receiving the Eucharist. You have certainly received a plethora of comments on this topic! I read through many of them. I grew up in the "Latin Church" always receiving on the tongue. Then we were told we could receive on the hand. I don't remember being given a choice. And looking back I don't believe I received the best instruction in much of being a Catholic as a whole and as well as reverence for the Holy Eucharist. When we were denied a choice during COVID a friend of mine was adamant about it being wrong to receive on the hand. I spoke with him to get a better understanding of his wanting to receive only on the tongue. Thank you Fr. for mentioning that we are anointed at Baptism and I was baptized before Vatican II so my tongue was consecrated - but I didn't know this until reading in the comments. I am continuing to gain more understanding of my Catholic faith gaining knowledge I missed growing up. Although I felt I was "comfortable" receiving reverently in the hand, the comment "the minute particles of our Lord’s Body that could remain on the hand if that is the chosen way. Where do these particles go then?" has made me to make the change to receive on the tongue. For me this is most certainly a reason to receive on the tongue. The discussions below have commented on Eucharistic Ministers. How are they "consecrated" to administer the Eucharist? Thank you again Fr. Allen and God Bless!
Not only was it forced during Covid! It was also highly encouraged by many liberal priests before Covid. I have seen many priests walk passed a person kneeling to receive on the tongue,
When I receive in my hand I always check to make sure their are no particles left in my hand and this does happen so please check and use your tongue to cosume them! As for kneeling because of bad knees I can’t so thank God for that blessing also if you can!
It will also turn people away from Communion and then the Church. I hate it when people argue over this as the main thing is to receive Jesus with love and respect. It seems to me, some people feel themselves superior to others.
I don't understand why you didn't say anything about not using the hand since particles can fall on the floor and be stepped on which is terrible. The church isn't always right when the bishops and or priests are weak and lenient
Amen
God Bless you in your witness.
Yay. ....Traditional Latin MASS ONLY WAY TO WORSHIP! CONGRATULATIONS FOR COMING HOME TO THE FULLNESS OF THE CATHOLIC MASS!
Amen ! Congratulations 🙏🏼 Jesus is king and we need him in tongue and knees
That’s beautiful!! Pie Peeya I didn’t know that about Padre Pio. Thanks for sharing. 🌷
Could you please reference some documents to validate this story? Thank you!
That is one, I'll have to look for the other one.
this is actually a good prayer, thanks for sharing
Thank you Pie Peeya for that witness. Our heart speak to us in the same language. The language of Love for the Eucharist Jesus present in whole.
In baptism we become adopted children of God , its diferent sacrament than that of Holy orders ( for priests)
The sharing of profet, king and priest is obtained, but not as the ministery of priesthood,Thats only by the sacrament of holy orders( this are to different sacraments ) with a diferent Sacramental Grace and different duties involved.Too sad this priest do not undertand his unique Sacred ministry.
I agree with you, 100%
When i was offerred to be a eucharistic minister, i refused & said that only priest should give communion because their hands were annointed for this purpose.
I totally agree with you
Thank You for your witness. There has to be and should be more of us.
Kneeling and receiving the Holy Eucharist in the tongue is beautiful than standing and receiving Jesus in the hand.
Kneeling and on the tongue reflects best our relationships with God. He is God and we are His creatures - Children by adoption
i don't believe they really look deeply into anything anymore.
Yeah, I prefer it that way tbh as well. But that does not mean receiving on the hand is invalid
Amen!

Yes, this pandemic was horrible. Lord have mercy.
But if the church says it’s ok then I think that it is
The current Church teaching is trying to water down the faithful, and whom as the video indicates brings their hands up to the mouth to consume Our Lord, NOBODY. Our Lord desires us to love Him, be attentive to Him and revere Him at our moment of receiving Him😊
I never read that!! Thanks for referencing. May Saint Faustina pray for us!! 💐
I meant to say an inaccurate comparison!
Most important is to receive after a total confession ! So many receive communion having not gone to confession in months.
Yes. Receiving Communion while in a state of mortal sin is a sacrilige and Paul explicitly warned us how dangerous it is
@@stevenlotz8755you should definitely try to talk them out of it and explain to them that its a mortal sin and a sacrilige if they receive it while in a state of mortal sin, which is likely if they havent been to Confession in years. Canon law says the Faithful should not be denied communion on the Tongue- A lot of sacrileges and diminish in the believe of the real presence of Jesus body blood soul and divinity in the Eucharist as a result of the the casual way it is received on the Hand -
May God help his church
Jesus HANDED the Apostles His Body at the Last Supper. They received in the hand.
St. Justin Martyr, early Church Father, about 100 years after Christ, described how the earliest Christians received Christ and it is the same as in 400 AD when St. Cyril writes: “make your left hand a throne for your right hand, since the latter is to receive the King."
Take, also, the teaching of Jesus to the Pharisees, who were OBSESSED with “purity” of the hands and insisted that no utensils, dishes or food-related stuffs be touched before the ritual purifying of the hands (a ritual imposed by men, not by God).

It make sense that the Church chance the norm to RECEIVE ON the tonge , and is pretty much in agreement to what st Cyril is saying here of the carefullness we should have . So we take care of every particle. Therefore, the Best way to give the Eucharist the proper care that Sr Cyril is talking about is RECEIVING HIM on the tongue.

Thank you Father for the reasonable and thoughtful analysis of whether to receive on the tongue or in the hand. True reverence occurs in the heart.

@@krimbiiThe Church as our Mother , changes norms of dicipline For GOOD, those changes ( RECEIVING on the tonge) were Made for good and therefore ,Holy popes have followed it for more than thousans year and it Has not giving any problems in terms of faith . The Church has received on the tonge for much more time, as the Best proper way. CAN YOU SEE ANY BETTER OUTCOMES OF THIS New WAY OF RECEIVING ( hand)AS WE RECEIVE PHYSICAL FOOD ?
. NOT EVEN PHYSICAL FOOD WE RECEIVE ON HAND MOSTLY.
READ THIS PART FROM ST Cyril,
"So then after having carefully hallowed your eyes by the touch of the Holy Body, partake of it; giving heed lest you lose any portion thereof ; for whatever you lose, is evidently a loss to you as it were from one of your own members. For tell me, if any one gave you grains of gold, would you not hold them with all carefulness, being on your guard against losing any of them, and suffering loss? Will you not then much more carefully keep watch, that not a crumb fall from you of what is more precious than gold and precious stones?"
St. Cyril Will def. Agree with His successors in changing norms , for better.
Whats how life of Church works , some Saints start something for grater Glory of God and others give completion or perfect them. Always in Accord to the Deposit of Faith . No, novelties out of impiety, no expresión of New Doctrines.
Jesús is not a cookies that is not a doctrine of Faith. Ppl.dotn have any faith on Jesús in the Eucharist due to improper way of receiving Him.
After all Comunión on hand has caused many damages on the faith of ppl. That in itself is enought reason, proves the importance and logic reasons for reciving on the tonge
I have experienced once the lay minister who gave me the holy eucharist just slammed it on my hand! I was shocked! I had mixed emotions..confused and angry why did that guy do that..My God have mercy on his soul
Perhaps he was very aware of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, and was making sure their was no chance of the host falling. I have also seen the Host fall from a person's tongue.
Thank you Father Allen for a terrific explanation!!! i was so thrilled to receive on the tongue by Fr. Ron at the National Shrine of The Divine Mercy when visiting a few weeks ago. i hadn't received on the tongue in decades due to leaving the Church. I'm happy to be back :)

Thank you, Father. You have put my heart at ease; I believe with all my heart & soul that the Eucharist is truly the BODY of our Lord, Jesus Christ. I receive HIS HOLY BODY with great reverence.
I totally agree, Father. Keep educating & addressing these questions .
The problem of desecration. Unfortunately, desecration occurred even when Holy Communion was given only on the tongue
Please explain how? Have a blessed day.
How?
That it very true. The host could and has been removed from the tongue by people with evil intentions.
St. Cyril of Jerusalem in 348 gave this instruction to his congregation: “When you approach Holy Communion, make the left hand into a throne for the right, which will receive the King. With your hand hollowed, receive the Body of Christ and answer 'Amen'.
Exactly ❤️🙏🏻
On the tongue or in the hand should be received with our hearts in the right state of grace.
Thank you, for the voice of reason.
Think that one over. When receiving in the hand how can one believe that the Host is really Jesus present Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity. It is said that 60 per cent do not believe the transubstiation .
@@jeannerichmond687 I stand by my comment. One does not know another’s’ heart, that is not for me to judge. That belongs to God.
Yes but can u explain about the minute particles falling from yr hand on the floor the we become accountable for someone stamping Jesus precious body
Cyril writes: “ make your left hand a throne for your right hand, since the latter is to receive the King."
Take, also, the teaching of Jesus to the Pharisees, who were OBSESSED with “purity” of the hands and insisted that no utensils, dishes or food-related stuffs be touched before the ritual purifying of the hands (a ritual imposed by men, not by God).
@@a.j.4559 The apostles had consecrated hands, as do priests. Lay people do not.
My concern is, that people drop the Eucharist on the floor and use it for the black mass.
We must pray for our Priests, that they remain faithful to Lord Jesus
Read a comment recently where demons told an exorcist that the demons rejoice when the dogs, (us) paw all over the Nazarene, (Jesus). I'll be receiving on the tongue no matter who says what!
I read a long time ago, when they 1st said for people to receive in the hand. ( which at 1st I did), it was an article about the demon responsible for communion in the hand, after I read this I refuse to take communion this way.
Well Father explained but can we stop the abuse. No so we have to receive it the right way to stop the abuse.
I agree that we can receive on the band if we want. But. Father the Eucharist ministers do not always show reverence!
We've seen it for a long time
As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be world with out end. I will stick to the tongue. Let's be skeptical about new things ...God's things never change
Yet the early practice, for at least four centuries, was to receive in the hand. 'God's things never change'?
I truly believe that we should receive our Lord Jesus Christ only on our tongue and kneeling! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
"Only the consecrated hands of a priest can touch the Eucharist" JPII 1990's
Most of the comments here are from Catholics who refuse to receive Holy Communion on their hands, and I thank God for that!
That is so sad
i was in a parish where the priest would give one guy communion and then give him a second one and he would put it in his shirt pocket so he could give it to his mother
So sad for the mother will have much to answer to. Yes definitely a sacrilege. Shame on the Bishop and much prayers for both who are leading this child in the wrong direction. Have Mercy Lord. Praise Jesus in the Most Holy Blessed Eucharist.
That is HORRIFYING !!
That’s awesome! All Archdiocese should recognize Canon Laws and post it on their Websites or Church Bulletins

Yes it is.
It is Canon Law des;pite what the Bad Bishops say. Thank God there are a few Good and Faithfull Bishops.
Thomas allows that a deacon might be granted the privilege by bishop or priest in case of need.
Thank you, Fr. Alan. God bless you and all the MIC throughout the world 🌎🌹🙏💙🕊❤️

Bring back the communion rail and paten our from those sacristy shelves ❤
My brother asked him about it & told him it was stupid to do it like that..a couple of weeks later he changed it but still had to be the last one to receive
But that's ok I don't mind being last
Shame on them. You cannot be denied receiving on the tongue.
Just because the Church ‘allows’ Communion in the hand doesn’t make it right.
Thank you! Amen!
On the tongue please is our LORD.
Yes
Our Lady of Roses (March 22nd, 1975) said NEVER to receive communion in the hand. Can't believe there's still any discussion about this today.
Clearly it's the priest who has a reverence problem.
Congratulations on staying on the right track.

That priest is a smart arse punk.
Thank you Padre for your crystal clear explanation.
You are entitled to receive on the tongue. It is a part of Catholic teaching that can't be denied.
Correct
I prefer to receive on the tongue, but here [England] the Bishops have decreed that during the pandemic, we should receive in the hand. The Bishops have recently relaxed this, but some priests still prefer to give in the hand. I am obedient to the Bishops and priests. I have mentioned it to priests. To avoid fragments falling to the ground or getting wiped of on clothes etc, I lick my hand afterwards, in spite of the unpleasant taste of sanitiser.
Thank you for this clarification. God bless you.
God help those that need it during this time of the plague
Thank you so much father for explaining this difficult questions among the catholic Christian .Thank you God for giving us your daily bread.help us to understand more the miracles of the Eucharist
I walk to Jesus with my hands carrying all of my offerings to Him to exchange them all for Him. I offer Him everything, good and bad. Now, the walk to Holy Communion seems too short as I know I surely forgot to give Him something. I just hope He knows what it is and takes it for me. This has helped me to understand I need to be empty of everything so there is make room for Jesus to fill me with His Grace and Mercy.
Thank you for the wonderful explanation, Father. 🙏🌹🌷
We wonder why today there is so much disbelief? I believe it starts here. The lack of reverence towards Our Lord.
People have been seen PUTTING THE HOLY EUCHARIST IN THEIR POCKET! AND LEAVING!!! What becomes of The Holy Eucharist then????
Somebody please tell me what the significance of taking the host from your own hand with the opposite hand then putting it in your mouth is? There is absolutely no reason for this. Our hands are not consecrated like a priests...It seems to me like a defiance act "I'll do it myself!!"...like a toddler acts when they don't want you doing something. We are talking about the body..blood..soul..and divinity of Our Lord Jesus Christ!!!!!
Amen!
You are right!
Picking up food and placing it in our own mouth indicates control over how we choose to live.
Power (pride) over our lives as opposed to submission (humility) to the will of God.
It really doesn't matter as much as you think it does.
Amen
Amen!
I cried reading your comment! Yes, I feel the same.
You're making a mountain out of a mole hill.
It doesn't matter that much that one receives communion in the hand because it's such a trivial thing.
Where I come from, receiving communion on the hand is the norm.
The Archbishop here has no problems with it at all.
Thanks for Fr. Alexander for the clarification. It is all about reverence to the Body of Christ. 🙏
“Make your left hand a throne for the right, as for that which is to receive a King. And having hollowed your palm, receive the Body of Christ, saying over it, Amen.”-- St. Cyril of Jerusalem (4th century).
Very interestingDeborah, thank you for the historical reference .Amen
Welcome to the divine mercy family father Alexander & thanks for the explanation.
We are called to render all our reverence to Almighty God. Leviticus 6:20 direct us to receive Our Lord in the tongue only snd from consecrated hands. God bless you.
Can you confirm Leviticus 6;20 as it says something else
Father, I appreciate your words. Please clarify; in the rite of baptism our tongue IS blessed/anointed specifically.
In the old rite, tongues were specially consecrated at Baptism.
Why not receive on your tongue?
It is permitted to stand, or even sit, if you are unable to kneel. Just use common sense.
God understands.
Thank you Fr, for this information. I wish God's people would stop fighting on this matter. All that happens is division and lack of love.
