      @@Chuck0856 I wouldn't say that. It's very true to this day that many don't have enough respect for the eucharist. The eucharist really is Jesus and sadly not enough Catholics understand that. We really need to try our best to be respectful to kneel and recieve holy communion on the tongue. It is a sign of sacrilege to recieve on the hand. Bishop Athanasius has a book on this called Dominus Est.

    After coming home from Mass I always take a sip of water. My grandmother told mevthat water is the purest thing that we have and before eating anything solid have a sip of water. She also insisted that whenever wr passed a church to make the sign of the cross because Jesus is present in the Tabernacle on the altar.
    With a cane and a hip replacement I can't bend down all the way. But I do the best I can.

      Reverence is not determined by a physical act alone. Your intent and your act together create reverence. If you judge reverence by action alone, you are missing a great deal.
      There are people who merely go through the motion on their knees. And people who genuflect then receive on their hand with deep reverence.
      Look beyond the surface and understand this is between each person and God alone.

      I started wearing a veil last year, It was difficult at first because only a couple of other women were wearing them and I felt so self-conscious. But now it feels so good and I think we have to do what feels right and others will follow good
      examples. I've also started genuflecting to receive, I'm a little afraid to kneel at 58 because I'm thinking I might stumble getting up, but genuflecting seems like the second best option. I think once more people start acting more reverently other people will also think, hmm... I've seen so many college students who come to our masses and they are so reverent. It is so beautiful. They bow when they hear the name of Jesus Christ and they kneel to receive and it's just so hopeful!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

      Well said, absolutely correct. We all need to speak out and tell the truth about the Most Holy Eucharist. It breaks my heart every time I try to have this conversation and most people just say something like "oh, I take "it" on my hand because everyone else does ". So many things wrong with a statement like that. Likewise, I once asked a "eucharistic minister" if she really felt, in her heart, mind and soul, that she was really worthy to handle the True Body and Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ. She shrugged and said "dunno, never thought about it, the priest just asked me to do it ".!!! I feel the pain in my soul. Lord please forgive the world for the sacrileges against your most Holy Body.

      But that why the bible says that we should reflect before receiving the body (bread) and blood (wine) of Jesus- from them on, we can take the communion or not. Don’t think that the priest should be the only one touching the communion. You are living by the Old Testament sadly. Where is the New Testament in what you write? You are not BOUND to a priest anymore. If we turn away from ouy sin and try to be holy beings then what is stopping you from holding the body of Christ. The saints are a holy priesthood ( that’s what God describes us to be) . Please, let’s get out of the sphere of thinking everything must be done though the priest. The veil was thorn in the temple, there’s no more them (priests) and us!
      And also, why are we still worshipping and bowing to an idol (beads) I could symbolise a banana to be God and pray to it, but that is still idolatry. did you not receive the freedom from this? We think of Jesus as a very far away person. He is right beside you, just take to him. If he has secured your eternity, I’m pretty sure that he will help you do the right choices until he comes for you. Study the word of God, you have access to it, and see for yourself, everything mentioned above is referenced in his word. Let’s learn to be transparent and understand his word without personal baggage and bias because we will be judged by His word, not our man made standards

      @@christfollower8256 Sadly, you don't understand what you are saying. What about all the numerous particles of the Holy Eucharist that fall to the floor, for a start. We are talking about the True Presence of Jesus Christ. Unconsecrated hands are not worthy to touch Our Blessed Lord. You seem to be very confused about Old Testament and New Testament. Obviously you are not of the True Catholic Faith.

      I'm afraid this demonstrates a poor understanding of theology and of Aquinas. All Christians are consecrated by virtue of baptism. The real "scandal" is when Catholic Traditionalists act with piety in church but treat their neighbours with contempt. In England and Wales the Catholic Bishops have specified that the norm is to make a bow, receive Holy Communion whilst standing, and in the hand. Such rubrics, however, matter very little, and we shouldn't judge people who act differently. Let's focus on the Good News that God loves us, which the Eucharist nourishes us to proclaim.

      I did watch. I find the language of "mortal sin" and "sacrilege" rather pre-Vatican II. The emphasis of your video is more on what we do at Mass, rather than what God does in us, which is so much more exciting. I agree with "Lex orandi, lex credendi", and that how we behave towards the Eucharist expresses our love and reverence for Christ, but I worry that the perspective you give - which I know is echoed by many traditionalist (not the same as Tradition) Catholics - sets up all kinds of conditions for coming to God's table. Pope Francis keeps on emphasising how we Catholics need to reflect God's unconditional welcome to people, and not worry too much about rites and regulations which can become barriers to encountering Christ. Some people new to Catholicism may find your video helpful for "fitting in", but I think I'd find it off-putting in case I "got it wrong". I admire several of your videos, but for me this one doesn't say "Come in, as you are, a beloved child of God". Just my opinion, which you can take or leave. Keep up the good work; I admire your skills and dedication. God bless your ministry.

    I'm pretty amazed, that Traditional Catholics set their sights on Medieval innovations made out of fear of desecrating the Eucharist, but ignore the teachings of Church Fathers like Saint Cyril of Jerusalem...
    On the Mysteries V.21: (www.newadvent.org/fathers/310123.htm)
    "In approaching therefore, come not with your wrists extended, or your fingers spread; *but make your left hand a throne for the right, as for that which is to receive a King. And having hollowed your palm, receive the Body of Christ, saying over it, Amen. So then after having carefully hallowed your eyes by the touch of the Holy Body, partake of it; giving heed lest you lose any portion thereof* ; for whatever you lose, is evidently a loss to you as it were from one of your own members. For tell me, if any one gave you grains of gold, would you not hold them with all carefulness, being on your guard against losing any of them, and suffering loss? Will you not then much more carefully keep watch, that not a crumb fall from you of what is more precious than gold and precious stones?"
    To recieve the Body of Christ on the hand _is_ the older version. Period.
    Of course it needs appropriate catechesis to teach those preparing for their First Communion/Rite of Initiation to be reverent of the Body of Christ and be careful not to lose particles of it.
    But, I reiterate: The practice of communion by mouth was established out of fear of desecrating the Eucharist, accompanying the sad practices of less frequent communion and communion in only one species.

    The priest knows, while putting the communion in their hands, they have not been to confession.
    I sent a message to Lourdes and got a reply of "yes we do confessions and also the communion is put in the hand"..............I don't thing I'll go there assuming it would do me good;

    Wait a minute. So your saying by the 6 century it become customary to receive on the tongue but the early church received in the hand.
    The early church had a meal. It was bread broken and passed around.

    • @pete9688
      @pete9688 4 года назад

      The desert Fathers made due with what they had. Very special attention was given to the Eucharist ( bread ) That stemmed from Paul having to somewhat chastise the people at Corinth ( read the letters in the Gospel ... that’s what they’re mostly about ) who were getting drunk on the wine and really going all out erroneously! Read The History if the Church by Eusebius... quite interesting. As time lapsed Church Fathers all we’re in agreement that the Eucharist should be given with total reverence so much that the priests upon being ordained began getting their hands and primary the index finger and thumb as they would come in contact with the true Body and Blood of Our Lord.
      It just evolved to where we are today.

    I was taught that if receiving the body of Christ in the hand, that your dominate hand should be used to hold up the weaker hand. That is how I do it.

      The left hand rests on top of the right hand as if forming a plate . You receive Christ into the left hand , then remove your right hand from underneath and use that to pick up the sacred host and consume it .

    The “communion rail” is where lay faithful kneel to receive. The altar and sanctuary are often mixed up. You might even say a sanctuary rail, but in fact, it is a communion rail that separates the sanctuary from the naive of the church.

    When I found out about Vatican 2 a few years ago I was so dejected. I still haven’t got over it. I’m in my early 30s and came back to faith in 2020, but I can’t really say if it’s the true faith or not that I’m practising, because after learning about the changes in the 60s I can see now why so many have abandoned the faith since then. The only church in my town is Novus Ordo, and I have experienced the TLM in a city, and I have to say there is no comparison. Feels like two different religions. The Novus Ordo is not very reverent. None of the laity seem to have any respect for it.

    most people do not "look" reverent when they receive, but that is not their fault. The way it is done nowadays does not lend itself to the idea of reverence. Most people nowadays, according to polls, do not believe in the Real Presence. I knew how to be reverent before kindergarten. The fact that a video like this is necessary, and that it will do no good, shows how far we are from where we should be, and where we used to be, not that long ago.

    my church is open again ... but they separate the communion from the indoor mass .. and give it outside as we leave the church on the way to our car ...in my heart Jesus tells me to not take part in such a sacrilege. and so i am still bereft of the holy sacrament...i cannot get to mass very often because i am 24-7 caregiver to my terminally ill husband... friends come sometimes to watch my husband while i go to mass . but basically there is no care for our souls coming from our church ... and the church is ironically named Corpus Christi... and all this in the name of protecting our body's from covid ...silly me i thought their job was to protect our souls from Satan... pray for us.. here in Tucson, Arizona

    Communion on the knees and in our tongue, is more than just good"Etiquette". It is a matter of respecting the first commandment. It is a matter of giving God all of our devotion and respect. It is about having a healthy fear and respect for our Lord Jesus. Present in the consecrated Host. Which after consecration by a validly ordained Catholic Priest, it then becomes the real Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ. To Him all the Honor and Glory, now and forever. AMEN.

      If you have received baptism, holy communion sacraments in the catholic church I believe you can take communion. I'm not confirmed but had both sacraments as a child along with Reconciliation (confession) and I've been allowed to take communion since my first communion. Check with the parish priest where you plan to attend for instruction. That's your best bet.

      You must speak with the Priest and see what is necessary for the reception of Holy Communion the Eucharist, because Holy Communion the Eucharist in the Catholic church is a closed communion, there are circumstances which the pastor may allow but you must speak with him to see what circumstance you fit into, and also it is also very necessary that you believe that is the very Body Blood soul and Divinity of Jesus the resurrected body of Jesus, The blessed Sacrament it is not a symbol, it is really Christ.

    All very admirable, but if one were to try to kneel for communion on the tongue in most parish churches, you would be laughed out of court, perhaps told off by the parish priest or refused communion at all, as has happened at Mass celebrated by a bishop on several occasions.
