I bought a cheap no name peanut lighter and lost it in my car. After years i found it and it burned by the first try. I bought the maratac copper and love it.

I have 4-5 p-nut lighters and one big one . Good stuff. Also use the Maratac aaa flashlights 🔦

Cool! Where did you get the orange O-ring? What size is the O-ring?

Thanks! It came with the lighter.
Just measured it. Around 15mm with it on the lighter. Quite hard to take it out without damaging it 👍

The problem with this is that the insert is brass, which gets hot faster than titanium. If it was all-titanium, it would get hotter slower, so it would work better as a candle. I may as well just get the all-brass version, which is cheaper. I hope the seals are buna nitrile, which will hold up best for use with the naphtha fuel.

Excellent points. They do a titanium version but don't know about the insert as well. Regarding the seals, will look into it. So far it looks like it, mine lasts about 3 months until needing a refill.

@@ultimateequipment23 I just ordered one of these. I've done a lot of testing on various liquid fuel lighters, and I suspect the seal on this one - especially the fact that the seal is compressed - is what makes it last longest. Many cheaper lighters of this same style have a seal that just sits between the inner and outer shell without being under compression.
The longest lasting lighter that I own is actually the oldest one I own - it's an IMCO IFA from the 1920s. Because of the way it's designed, it prevents fuel from escaping even though it has no seal at the wick end. I'm currently testing it and it's on day 99 and still going strong.
I suspect a big part of why it has lasted so long is that it doesn't stand straight up, but lays on its side, so the wick end (at the top of the lighter) is not facing upward, so most of the evaporation goes into the lighter body and is trapped there, rather than going out of the wick. I will have to do more testing with other lighters I own, resting them on their sides rather than on their bases, but most of them do not have a sealed bottom, so it probably won't make a difference.

Oh wow! Thanks for the insight! Please do share your futures findings. 👍

Thanks. I keep all my test results on Reddit at the "lighters" subreddit. I can't post a link here (not sure why - I guess RUclips doesn't like links), but you can find the result of my first test by doing a search on reddit for "evaporation test on various lighters".
