I got the chance to hang out with Alex and play super smash bros in Chicago. It was the best concert experience ever. I even helped him while he was breaking down his drum set and he gave me his sticks
Ah, so that's why he was selling his pies on IG earlier today. Loved every minute of this. Alex is the type of drummer who should have every musical move he makes documented, and you do a great job towards achieving that.
Super cool looking back at Alex playing the drums to Sound of Sleep and remembering that at the time when I first saw this video when it came out that I never could have imagined it as what it became
Was super stocked to see Alex and Chris doing stuff together on IG, so cool to get a closer look at it with you! Also which song is this around 5 minutes ? (Edit : i got it, it's Native Blood (redux))
it's because I didn't have an external mic due to the run n gun situation, but I boosted it as loud as I could. just put your volume up and you should be good!
I’m not sure what video you’re referring to exactly, but Chris and Anthony are both from the Seattle area and Chris actually used to play in Jared’s band so it’s definitely possible he was haha
Yah man the reality is that I couldn’t adjust levels for both talking and super loud drums haha quite the annoyance but I’ll keep that in mind moving forward
Yah man audio was a nightmare for this but I’ll use a shotgun mic next time rather than my stock audio. It was just a last minute run and gun type situation
Roman Garcia oh I just meant like the actual set-up like how he used to have three cymbals on his right China-Ride-Crash and they were all kinda stacked and now it’s just kinda the standard Ride-Crash-China if that makes sense
Anyone ever tell you you speak with your bottom teeth? It's kind of like when people draw little faces on their chins and then film themselves upside down, doing a little cartoon character type thing.
👌 made you look 👀 now like, comment and subscribe
More silent planet! Also, your weight loss is looking great!
thanks dawg! the SP guys are great friends of mine so I'm sure there will be more!
God, I love Alex. He's a HUGE inspiration in my play style.
His drumming makes this band stand out even more. Impressed me !
More drum rig rundowns! This was sick
will keep that in mind for sure!
those cymbals sound amazing
I'm so STOKED he got signed to Zildjian! Meinl sounded good on record, but lacked a little live IMO
Well, he uses a lot of dry cymbals. He’s got a few on here, and I’m sure it’ll be the same lol
In my opinion, it has to do with the cymbals he chose to play. But I also love Zildjian cymbals.
Matt Kuhr I have nothing against Meinl but his cymbals were too similar in sound. I couldn’t tell which he hit if I closed my eyes
Munchell360 totally fair point! I somewhat agree. Very dry stuff, other than his ride that he was recently using.
Matt Kuhr I’m also very partial to the bright cymbals. I know the dry stuff works super well for Silent Planet’s music tho
A little bummed about him moving from Meinl cause I think his cymbals sounded perfect, but both companies make great product
Cannot wait for new SP! Loved the insight on the recording, learned a lot!
Just watching Alex play gives me this feeling of pure, visceral satisfaction like "Yes. Yes, this fucking rules."
I’m a drummer so this made a lot of difference in my drumming 🙏thankyou so much

Def enjoyed the content! Keep it coming. He’s a beast on the kit.

Haha footy in Australia is short for football so when you said you were gonna get some footy I was like "lol what?"
I absolutely loved this style of video!
So stoked to hear new SP material. I already know its going to be amazing. Very curious on what Garrett is going for lyrically on this one.
That's pretty sick. The kit sounds amazing just on the camera mics. Hope all is well with them. Listening to afterdusk as I write this.🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I love seeing both Alex and Anthony my drum heros in the same video keep it up
I'd like to watch this kinda content sometimes! Keep it going!
I really dig this kind of stuff 👍 especially studio videos
A great player, with a signature sound and style, very nice 👌👊
Facts want to see more stuff like this, good work
This was awesome man! 👌 More vlogssss
This is cool. You should do more vlogs like this
when concerts get back, I'd love to!
Great vlog dude! Definitely do more of these!
The Sound of Sleep, such a great song!
Alex is probably my favourite drummer currently, the dude is just incredible. Really happy about his Z deal!!
Such an incredible drummer

Refreshing to see actual drums being recorded on a metal album in 2020 lol
The song is "The sound of sleep" ⚡🖤
more silent planet pleaseee
Cool thanks for posting
dude so good!
was wondering what those cut up Home Depot buckets were for lol
Thank you for this
awesome content!
👋 hello you are the best drummer Alex!!!!
audio is super low in this video, just a heads up
it's because I didn't have an external mic due to the run n gun situation, but I boosted it as loud as I could. just put your volume up and you should be good!
Is that ROS drummer ??
4:25 wasn't this guy in jared dines metal scream video???
I’m not sure what video you’re referring to exactly, but Chris and Anthony are both from the Seattle area and Chris actually used to play in Jared’s band so it’s definitely possible he was haha
What snare is that?
What sanre is this ?
La verdad que no entiendo que carajos quieren decir jajajajaja pero aguante el Alex, lo adoro y aguante Zildjian
what is the 20 inch one on right? cant find info on
on left
You did a great job! I would say a couple times with chris and anthony it was hard to hear them talk. Alex was crystal clear. Just little feedback
Yah man the reality is that I couldn’t adjust levels for both talking and super loud drums haha quite the annoyance but I’ll keep that in mind moving forward
cayeminterviews gotch ya! Maybe have a mic you attach to the person speaking when they talk. Just a suggestion maybe. It would be a great series
Some of the Audio needs work. (maybe a shotgun mic?) But I love these vlog styles. COVID is a bitch but BTS studio videos would be sweet!
Yah man audio was a nightmare for this but I’ll use a shotgun mic next time rather than my stock audio. It was just a last minute run and gun type situation
siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick
Which Snare Remo Head is it? I don't understand it :/
X14
Liam Hawkes ah okay thanks. I understand something like „Export“, so I was confused :D
Anyone know what kind of lug locks he’s using? (1:14)
Were any of the band members from the Visalia area?
Yes! Mitch is!
My neighbor was taking about you guys. He played in Swimming With tsunamis. 🤘🤘
13, 16, 20 feahhhh
I wonder why he changed his cymbal set up or if it was just for recording
Hard to say no to a Zildjian endorsement.
Roman Garcia oh I just meant like the actual set-up like how he used to have three cymbals on his right China-Ride-Crash and they were all kinda stacked and now it’s just kinda the standard Ride-Crash-China if that makes sense
blake - tbh i bet it has to do with minimizing cymbal bleed in the tom mics for recording
Ily
Oh i can hear those cymbals!! Maybe 🤔 cuz they Zildjian?? Lol 😂 not other silly brand jojo
WHAT!?
thank god he ditched those terrible meinls
Haha right
Meinl is actually a pretty good company. The classics custom dark cymbals are some of the best on the market right now.
