looks like a wraith32/hglrc trex with am32 firmware on it, it actually makes the same startup tones. you can build one yourself for $15 with the exact same performance (and no cogging) and even smaller footprint if you use the iflight slick escs. and yes it already supports brushed motors too.
It's just different firmware, John holmes claims that he has made these slim escs before the drone market started. I'm a bit skeptical because esc's have been around for a long time.
Great ESC, pretty impressed with it so far. Holmes did just announce that the micro BEC is unstable and will be offering a credit for previous purchases towards a castle BEC.
WoW, the technology never ceases to amaze me, that is absolutely terrific, Holmes hobby has amazing stuff, I hope to get one of them in my TRX4 sport, just dont know a thing about them motors, but more and more I am seeing them, watching this definitely makes me want this set up, another gem of a video my friend!!
Grazie in anticipo :)
Would it be possible to have the schematics of the electrics for us beginners? This includes uncommon stuff such as direct power servo and an ESC than needs a BEC. Keep it up thx!
Looks like they run the motor more in position control, than rpm control. Just Like a brushless gimbal does, with 3 sinus shaped currents at all times, and you just go along the sinus function to get the motor rotating smoothly at any speed.
The copper will eventually corrode, also huge disadvantage, the magnets inside can, and will pick up little bits of metal found in soil, unless there is some sort of barrier, ideally there could be an outer surround, with some kind of cooling in place.
Knowing the quality that is built into it, I wonder how much abuse it will take. For instance sometimes getting stuck on a dirt hill, and doing some punches on it can cause extra heat in a hurry..If geared properly of course
What size revolver is this? I’m looking into getting a revolver and a crawl master mini for my trx4 with two speed trans and axial ar44 axles. I want something quiet. But I lover the idea of the revolvers torque. Your setup sounds quieter than some others running the crawlmaster mini. Thinking about getting the large 540 1800kv revolver. What are your thoughts?
@@RCReviewChannel imo stock trx4 sport gearing is overgerared for true crawling purposes, also, as you said, this combo is for lighter rigs and maybe the cogging you mentioned disapears in other rig setups
@@RCReviewChannel Thanks for this amazing video! I’m super curious which servo horn are you using in this truck? seems like it’s not Traxxas metal one? Thank you!
A sw4 and a revolver has just as good control as a 1080. Actually probably better because they're tunable. You can set the throttle and reverse curves.
@@mtzl1930 and it's not just the sw4. It's any castle product. Idk anyone running a revolver on a hobbywing. The new esc from Holmes hobbies is dang near silent though
Like to invite you out to our crawl spot in South jersey. Amazing play ground with lots of obstacles and various terrains both man made and natural. Amazing place. If intrested please pm me rc review
Here in Spain we have been using a drone ESC for a crawler for a while, I leave you a video of what parameters to put with blheli 32 ruclips.net/video/jHjvxbYNvcY/видео.html
Looks interesting, but as the Quicrun already is a clean install with excellent performance and this looks like an unfinished product, I'll wait and see.
Thinking that I will wait until Mr. Holmes has a finished product.
Was thinking the same. I always avoid first gen of everything

Fantastic demonstration of the futures. 💯👍
This was a collaboration between a DIY'er on rccrawler forum and HH. Can't find the thread but the DIY guy made everything available to us.

Anything high end brushless for these crawlers FOC vesc tech is what you want. Hands down the best low speed control and also dead silent
There's going to be a furitek option soon for 1/10 also. I've got the one for the scx24 and it's really amazing.
yeah ive been trying to get one of these since last year still no luck. rigs just been sitting waiting for an esc for i can finish it.
Looks good ,best to wait for when it is perfect 👍🏻
Just picked up a cen racing f-450 to pull my trailer with crawlers on it and i love it any chance you can do a review on a future episode on it

i want a crawl master esc so badly! especially now that programmable. i had to get a copperhead for my revolver :(
Can those outrunners handle any water? Comps up here in the pnw are usually by rivers and what-not plus the raining.

That is awesome. Even if there is a down side.
Very cool.
Great to see innovation and development
Great video. What tires are you running here?

Awesome. How do they handle water?
I dont have any Holmes products because of the issue mentioned, never available!!!!! or in stock!!!!!!!
So which Esc should I get for a quiet Holmes V3 motor??
Wonder how this is different in performance from the Hobbywing Fusion 2 in 1.
It looks a lot like the mini ESC I got from Banggood for my son's MN90. What would the amperage rating be on this?
Solid 40 I believe I saw on another video
Awesome video man👍
Very informative👍
Great product... Great review.
Wow that is pretty impressive!!!! How will this compare to the Fusion 2in1?
the Fusion 2 in 1 is great but is has little power and punch.
Did I miss what kV revolver be used?
Can you run that motor with a hobbywing 1080?
when can WE buy this ????
Yes behaves the same as the axe foc system
Great review, what is the final gear ratio on your test rig? did you run 3S or 4S? you talked about both but it wasn't clear what you used for test.
I am not sure yet. 17t pinion with 39t spur running on 3s on a trx4 Sport.

Curious, in the RC airplane world, an In Runner is what you want.. what's the advantage of an outrunner here? Less size/weight?
torque. moving mass. very much like what you want on an airplane.
@@knoopx I think it's more about how far away the magnets are from the center shaft.
Really? I use out runners on some of mine.
@@MrLunithy that's defined by the rotor diameter, you can get pretty much the same sizes regardless if outrunner or inrunner
@@Dave-nf7rc pretty much everything that flies do. Wings, helis and quads are all outrunners, specially when moving large props.
Is this the one that has FOC like the axe hobbywing?
Yes but it's not FOC
I like my tech to make noise, makes it feel like a machine to me.
I could use this for my SCX24. I have a Holmes Hobbies 380 revolver. Interesting
look up furitek. They make a esc motor combo that is identical to this setup. You can also pair it with a surpass drone motor.
We'll put on a 1/16 size vehicle
The furitek isn't the same at all. Great low cost choice but nothing in common with this one.
Make it silent at any speed then I would be impressed
It’s not drag brake. Bummer. . but Daaaaamn that’s Awesome!!
Hello sorry but links doesn't work where I can buy its???
Francis I’ll be in East side SJ on the 25th. I’d like to crawl at your spot, any way you can DM or comment back with the location pls?
2:04 - Considering the only thing keeping me from this platform was the noise and losing all the control of my 1080...
I'm interested.

Will this handle the revolver classic coming out in a 6x6 Gspeed? I was going to use a mamba x with a puller pro v2 540.. but unsure.
I'd stick with the mamba x and puller pro in the heavier trx6. It's more suited to lightweight rigs.
Cheers👍
Price looks pretty up there as well....
What tires are those?
Now I know why my trx4 brushed system is so nice. Quiet, strong, cheap to replace. That motor noise is not nice.
Is this a waterproof ESC?
Good question, i think no
It is not waterproof as is. Pickup some conformal coating and coat it, then you'll be set.
Or maybe you can put it in a reciverbox
holy crap!
Modulation ? Did I spell it right....?
got me one on the way
how from where?
