Nice looking build! Nice to see what a plywood roof looks like instead of my cloroplast one. I like the inner lip you added to the inside of the bottom box which the canvas is attached to. If you add the bungee it will pull the fabric in when you close the tent.
@@evansautomotive307 just a joke nice project 👍🏽my idea is to make hard sides tent like redtail rooftop camper. I want to build it for less than 5k with sun batteries, ligts, mattress...
@@evansautomotive307 with 9.5 marine plywood bits and pieces aprox it will weight 150 - 160kg = 343lb But i can also use 6mm plywood for top roof and side walls 6mm acrylic for front doors 6mm marine plywood weights 12.25kg per 1m² 9mm per 15.88kg per 1m²
If you mounted the side clasps at an angle so they pulled the top towards the hinge it would offset the force created by the gas shocks and not warp the hinge.
I wonder how red cedar studs would work on this project. Would probably lighten it up significantly. We just screened in our patio with red cedar studs. I didn’t realize how much lighter cedar is
@@evansautomotive307 Great, thanks. Looking forward to the final build. I've been thinking of using coroplast for the walls with snaps instead of fabric. No sewing. Take care.
Nice! My goals for this build was to keep cost down as well as keep it as thin as i could. Weight wasnt a huge factor since I already knew wood would weigh a bit more than aluminum. The next time i do this it will definitely be made of aluminum.
The lip all the way around has kept water out very well. And with insulation it has been pretty good at keeping heat out, or in. But i am sure white would be a much better starting point! Thanks for watching!
Lol, just going to say it! Weird watching this again reflecting on years ago! Not even close to being the same time and when people work with products and fast drying material! Not even the same as another persons application! Some things arn't even worth the depth when you remember just watching videos to appreate the work in hopes to learn somthing! Funny
It's not, I'm 5'10 and I fit fine in there. Maybe if you're 6'5 or something but it's easy to make bigger and customize it for your needs. Thanks for watching
Wow buddy, excellent build, thanks for the idea and showing us the process! Cheers
Thank you! Its was a good time. And it turned out pretty good! Thanks for watching !

Really great ideas man. Hopefully I'll get a chance to copy you someday
Thanks man, it was a pretty fun experience building it. Good luck on your build!
Nice coffin ⚰️ Dracula will be happy 👍🏽🤣
Hey its not that small 🤣
At least that's what I tell myself.....

@@leeneeslynys774 that would be awesome! How much do you think that would weigh?

looking forward for part 3
Thanks! I'm currently learning how to sew, I'll try to have it out in a week or so

Great job. I'm waiting for part 3!
Thanks! Part 3 night be a little while, but i'll get it out as soon as i can! Had a little mix up with the canvas haha
My name is hunter , my birthstone is green . My grandfather was a painter , he used to say “ Hunter green ! “ when he would see me .
Looking good! Thanks for sharing your process
Thanks! Stay tuned for part 3!
Bravo
How has the living hinge held up?
Have you had this on your car for a long time now? Have you had problems with the wood rotting?
Its actually held up fairly well. Had to touch up some spots with more bedliner but other than that its been good!
super job 👏👌🙌👍😀
Thank you!

It would probably work well! Cedar is also more weather resistant so that is also a plus. Thanks for watching!
정보나눔 .. 고맙습니다.
What is that name @ 7:56 that looks like shock?
Thats the tripod for my camera!
Nice job! Thinking of doing something similar. Where did you get the plastic hinge? Can't seem to find it. Thanks.
Its called a poly hinge. U.S plastic corp sells it. Its like $11 for 5 feet i think

@@johnvas4173 Coroplast for the walls would be pretty cool! The final video should be out tomorrow!
Where's you get that hinge? Thanks
It's called a plastic living hinge. I ordered it from U.S plastic
I'm currently making one that folds to go uptop of my Toyota Camper Van. It's a LOT lighter doing what I'm doing. (On my channel)

Merhaba dostum. aynı tasarımdan bende yapmaya çalışıyorum türkiyede çok pahalı umarım yapabilirim kolay gelsin.
Putting s Z channel all the way around will make a drip edge to keep water out and if you painted it white it wouldn't be an oven
