txg.ca - Fitting our Mizuno Contest Winner for a new ST190 driver! Michael swings at about 99mph and is looking for a bit more distance and a lower/straighter ball flight.
Filmed at: Tour Experience Golf

Featuring: Ian Fraser & Matt Blois

Love this. I love that you guys are even showing his bad strikes and then explain it. Hits home for 99% of us. Sometimes we get sick of Matty hitting straight 320 yard bombs 10 times in a row (or edited to 10 times in a row :) )
Always a treat to watch fitting of good golfer that many of us can relate to and why Ian is the master.
I don't know about everybody else but when I see a golf video from anywhere else that's 15 minutes I'm thinking they need to shorten it. When I see 1 from TXG I'm wishing it was 30 minutes.
You spoke my mind👍
Proper golf knowledge on this channel 👍🏾
I have loved seeing a average better golfer getting this kinda treatment! So happy (& jelly) for him...
I will never go into another fitting blaming myself for ball flights & results....
It’s so cool to see this guys fitting.
Thanks to all involved!
Very interesting and informative. If I was Michael, I would have considered a revisit to the driver fitting after a bit of a "cooling down period." Perhaps, him hitting that many drives, in addition, to all the shaft combination many have put his swing to be "off" ideal performance capability. Especially given that he just got done with his iron fitting (which was fantastic). In short, once the wedge and fairway woods fitting are concluded, re-hit the final product...driver head & shaft combo, to insure all is as it should be. When I got my full bag fitting done, I took about 5-10 minutes between each club fitting to insure my body, swing and physical capability were on par. If you know what I mean. Looking forward to the coming videos and outcome.
Congrats on winning the competition! But one thing man, you gotta stop talking yourself down :D It's a fitting! You don't have to pound it 280 yards high draws all the time :) Noticed it in the iron fitting as well, you're tough on yourself :)
bluffgubben
I can’t blame him for talking to himself the way he did, I prob would’ve done the same thing, it gets in your head know your swing is about to be on display for the whole world to see, plus it’s on a channel with freaking Matt pounding 330 down the middle
Just such a great job with this series. Congrats to Mike on the work and effort.
Excellent vid and respect to Michael for agreeing to share his fitting with the TXG community.
I don't mean to be disrespectful of Mizuno's generosity, but this demonstrates the limitations of restricting your club setup to one manufacturer.
Great job Michael on swinging in the fish bowl!... and fantastic information as always.
Ending with a synchronized hand clap & finger rubs....
You guys are becoming one another 👀🤣🤣🤣✔
🤣🤣
That was rehearsed, to perfection! 🤣
I bought a GD AD-DI 6 S Shaft a few years ago and it was like a Noodle . My club fitter checked the frequency and it was basically in the Regular to borderline Senior flex range. I have been playing a Aldila Rogue MSI 110 Silver 65 stiff ever since and never looked back. I was told the GD AD-DI shafts play soft and I can say I agree.
He’s got that frank caliendo/jon gruden look goin..I watched his iron fitting and was like he reminds me of someone and it finally hit me
Great video. Watching this should make all players want to get fitted. Good job gentlemen and Michael did an excellent job.
Really enjoy watching these fitting vids with the 'normal' guy. Great prize from mizuno , Michael seems a decent guy, much respect for doing the fitting on video, i'd like his swing. My Only complaint is I'd like to have seen the money change hands for the bet, that is a rascal 👍.
great fit, really enjoyed this mini series.
Outstanding series. Quite envious of Michel. Is he going to carry 3 wedges??? we shall see....... I'm leaning 2 hybrids, 2 wedges (3wood of course). Lucky bastard that Michel!
Nice vid. Never really took Mizuno drivers seriously, that driver looks good and traditional.👍
Great to see a regular guy getting fitted. I'm not a fitter but I was thinking even higher loft and a shorter shaft for more consistency. He was much more consistent with his irons.
This fitting is really fun 2 see
Showed just how helpful a shaft can be changing strike but not much doing for face control. Would a different head with different characteristics help at all?
Great video. Off for a driver fitting for the first time in 10 year next week! Very interesting so see player with similar club speed in a fitting.
Hey Ian, do you and your staff ever get the urge to do a little coaching regarding a client’s swing while your going through the fitting process?
@YikesBikes every golfer has swing flaws. Using a fitting as a baseline is a really postive starting point for progression. If you're sure the equipment is right, seeking out help with those flaws becomes intrinsic and the progression continues.
Like your videos guys! Have not even watched but know it will be good. Keep them coming!!
Nice to see some love for the Graphite Design DI shaft. I am curious to see the numbers compared to the TZ6.
Another excellent video and so well explained by you lads, excellent content I only wish you had a fitting centre in the UK ( north east England especially 🤔) as I would be booking a few sessions as both of you definitely know your stuff and I’m sure you could help my Game and get back too cat 1.
Great work Thank you. 👏👏👏
Love your videos, wishing you were in the west coast region. Don't know if you have any fittings for slow swing seniors with drivers. My swing speed is apx 82 to 85 almost all slow swing videos are around 90 which is not applicable to me..
Excellent video.
Love the fittings! keep it coming!
Great video! So easy to watch and informative. Even looking back the channel and the studio looks slick and clean. Very smart. Ian sometimes looks a bit subdued though, when I could see him - maybe wear something brighter next time!😉
Interesting! My handicap is more like Sam’s (high handicap fit), but he seemed to stripe it down the middle. My ball spraying is more like Mike’s but he has a much better handicap. Looking forward to my own trip up to Toronto.
Great to see what ypu guys can to with a more average golfer.
Now we see the value of an agnostic fit. The Mizuno head may have not been the best choice for Michael but in this case, you were handcuffed. It would of been nice to see how Michael hit other heads like the the EPIC and M5, etc. When I bought my new driver, I tried everything under the sun and the EPIC SZ was longer and straighter than anything on the market, for me. If I had been tied to one brand the results would have been less than stellar.
I would have liked to see this also, a different weighted head to possibly help with face control.
his numbers were about as optimal as it gets with that final combo.
This one was good. More relatable. Most of us don't hit 320 yd bombs. Would like to see you fit someone who plays at 19 HC. Someone who is fighting a slice with a driver.
We’ve done a couple of those, search high handicap fitting on our channel homepage
@ 8:04 you see the special spot on this driver. The high toe strike consistently will produce a low spinning loooooong tee shot. For me, it a nice long high lazy baby draw that finds fairways every time.
Great video again - as was the iron fit. Your Fitting videos are the Best 😀
One question for you Ian:
Did you consider trying shortening the driver slightly? :)
Keep up the great stuff 👍🏼
Have you ever considered showing a low loft driver - 8.5* paired with a high launch shaft? Wondering how the two would react together. Thx
Hi Matt/Ian, is there a reason that the test didn't include any of the stock shafts Mizuno offer? In the UK there are approx. 18 options available if I remember correctly from my fitting...Great videos as always Gents
I love the atmos or the tensi shaft in st190
Has Ian got a second job as a horse jockey 😂😂
Exactly what I was thinking. WOW. Still love the channel though :-).
😂😂😂🤣
@@MainStreetGolf I would love it more if he was.
Great video. Was wondering have you ever fit someone with a steel shaft in a hybrid or five wood? I just seem to find myself more comfortable with UDIs or even my standard 3 iron than a hybrid and i think the shafts they normally put in them might have something to do with it.
👏🏼👏🏼 cracking log. Keep them coming
Just shows how important fitting is!
You wanna see relics......I’m still hitting my mid 90’s Daiwa DG201’s!
How much would it cost to have a proper fitting from yourselves, or somebody like yourselves ?
Understanding this was a Mizuno competition win, if it had been a normal fitting what driver head direction would you have gone? Also was the ST190G considered at all?
....tough to eliminate the lefts without the legs. Kudos to him....very brave
Don’t diss the G5! Hitting fairway bombs since 2007. Should get fitted for something new though...
The lads looking a bit tired hitting all those shots ... how long does a full fitting last ?
Going to look pretty sporting out on the Tour Micheal hopefully you grabbed a little TXG swag while you were in Toronto. #representthevision The biggest question of course that needs answering is did they share any Mikey’s popcorn?
Frankie Da Fraser!😂
Did you get a free bowl of soup with that shirt!
Great video 👌🏻
I want a fitting like this so bad.
Ian I always back you. What is your ride in the 3.30 at Aintree?
If you're constantly hitting heels with the driver, does that tell you anything specific?
why didnt you try for a lighter shaft? something in the 50 gram range? he was clearly overswinging and tired. as an older player i see huge advantages in lighter shafts that are still stiff enough to reduce dispersion
Does anyone have a recommendations for 2018 fairway woods (don’t have the money for new ones) that would work well with higher swing speeds? I hit the ST190 18 degree wood and carried it about 255 yards but I simply can’t afford a brand new club as I’m still in school. I was thinking about either a cobra F8 or Titleist 917 F2, any help would be greatly appreciated!
Good vid
People in the comment section are really trying to tell Ian what he should have fitted him into.....🤦🏿♂️
🤣
Just to clarify some comments no flamingoes🦩 were harmed in the making of Ian’s wardrobe.
Luckily we don't have any pink flamingoes, apart from when I'm out on a bender
What odds are on that horse that Ian is riding at Aintree, considering hes dressed for it😂😂😂😂😂😂👍
I didnt know Ian was a jockey...bold shirt..
In fitting this guy you only talked about flex, you never talked about kick point or the point that the shaft releases the stored up energy in the swing, you should have had him try a high, mid & low kick point in the r,s,xs shafts because you can stiff the tip of the shaft to prevent torque loss and thats why mostly the stiffer flex shafts are used to prevent side spin, I bet a low kick point in a regular shaft would have gained this guy more yards with no loss of control.
Great fitting session. Always love the content on txg. Off-topic, no idea how is he a 8 handicapper even with the irons session based on ball striking. Congrats on the win though.
If the ball is findable off the tee (and over 240 in total yardage off the tee) anyone could be a plus handicap with a good approach and short game.
So, a 9.5* driver is turned into a 20.9* at impact... since moving your ball so far towards your target on a drive results in such a LARGE amount of non-repeatability, wouldn't you just keep the ball more centered and give him a driver-sized 3-wood? In theory, that should solve a lot of issues, no?
Great video, but Ian you look like you need a good meal and some sleep! You guys work really hard at your jobs and the you tube side. Don't forget we are only here once, don't forget to look after yourself and get some time to chill
You must have missed the Disneyland posts on Instagram.....
Still makes me wonder why some say shafts don't matter. This is a perfect example of how shafts DO matter.
Interested to know why no Fujikura shafts were tried🤔
I’m there were other brands we didn’t try either, not worried about brands just what we think will work best for that particular player
Hmm, this was a bit of a struggle because you could only use one head as Matt mentioned. Hopefully he will work out the kinks with a little more practice. Or maybe he’ll just go back to old reliable when he gets home.
Nice shirt mate - very horse racing orientated...
Ian rocking the hot pink I love it
What is this magic
Just curious why you didn't try the st190g driver?
Only comes in 9*, Michael needed more loft
@@clubchampionmedia I see. It does allow a 2* increase in the loft setting, but i assume that affects the openness of the face?
Correct, that would close the face which wouldn’t be ideal in this case
@@clubchampionmedia thank you for the response! I have a combo set of mizuno mp18 5-pw, 4 mmc and 3 mmc flihi. I also have the st190g driver. I have been really enjoying them! I found the same thing as you did with Mike. The blade helped my turf interaction
Need a sim or mavrik
He had to have that head but not the best for him. I had the same ST190 and had to sell due to been to low spin for me.
Did I miss something, why Mizuno driver?
Dude that shirt wtf! Hope you getting a good kickback lol. Just jokes, rock on bro :)
Not sure how "regular" or "average" he is. He is such a good ball striker with 100 mph swing speed. An average guy falls between 85-92 and won't hit the ball like him at all.
Maybe a shorter shaft would help with his dispersion.
Mizuno irons are incredible. Other than that, I would def look at another manufacturer. Unfortunately it's a Mizuno fitting, so he doesn't have that option.
Misses are both left AND right. The problem is in his grip.
How did his BS go up by 6 miles an hour with the shaft change to the Graphite Design? WOW....
Change the shirt...pleeeeeeaaase 😂
He needs a course on strokes gained. Haha. I can tell He’s leaving a lot on the table in the name of the fairway finder.
