Real good video - Thanks for sharing!! I need to install a 12" Humminbird Fishfinder on the bow and 9" Lowrance Fishfinders on the side of the console where you mounted your Garmin, plus corresponding transducers on the stern of my 1992 Bass Tracker Tournament TX-17. Major concern I have is how, and where to run the wires, especially from the bow all the way back to the stern. With a boat that old, I'm not sure what I'm getting into! The shop wants $150.00 an hour (2 hours labor per fishfinder) and they said it will be a bit cheaper if I were to mount the Fishfinder control heads and all they have to do was mount and hook up the transducers. I'm also concerned about placement and frequency/signal issues when placing two (2) transducers both on the stern.
using thr swing arm RAM mount are you able to swing it around and view it from the bow area? my current 5” unit mounted by the windshield area is able to swing around and view it from the bow, but Im wanting to upgrade to a 9” Garmin like in the video. Looks like the RAM swing mount might be the answer if you tell me it can swing around and be viewed from the bow area.
Thanks for the video. I'm thinking that's the 54 transducer. My 56 bracket won't fit in the old holes. It seems too low using the template so I'm going to hang it on a plate from the top step. We'll see. Maybe garmin has a skimmer and connector for on pane?
Thanks for your input and question. I originally purchased the 12" Humminbird and intended to mount it to the trolling motor off the Bow, however my Minn Kota Trolling Motor setup is only a 55 Thrust and the prop sleeve is too small to mount the transducer to that came with the fishfinder. The transducer is 8-10" long and the motor will only accommodate a maximum of 6". In order for the longer transducer to work, I would have to buy a minimum 80 Thrust motor and I prefer not to. I think it is going to be a major problem trying to "fish" the transducer wire from the stern to the bow under the deck on a boat that old, so I just may run it neat and tight, on top of the deck secured along the side edge of the hull. Still studying the project and watching videos for ideas.
The one that I used came with the Garmin unit. But they sell them on Amazon and they probably carry them at Cabelas and places like that. amzn.to/47B2ueW
The one that came with the unit is not quite the same as the ones on Amazon but maybe the description can help you find one if it doesn’t come with your unit.
It's actually mounted below the chine and not on it. I used the exact same mounting holes as the factory installed transducer and it has been working great.
Nice and simple but takes time.......I see you went with the awesome Garmin 93sv touch screen with UHD 54 transducer. That's going to make you happy. I have hummingbird low end units on my boat like everyone else getting the garbage 5 inch minimum trash fish finder. I'm really amazed that boat companies sale bass boats with pretty much only a map and 2D finder. During these days the standard console fish finder should have down and side imaging....... PERIOD.
I agree. I’m sure the 5” would work fine on a small kayak, but definitely not something that should come standard with a brand new bass boat. I’m loving the 93SV so far. Thanks for commenting.
Nice install I installed a Garmin on my first pontoon took me all day. I had them install it on my new pontoon it's a sun tracker 22 tri toon. I usually do stuff like that my self. I live by Tim's Ford southern Tn.
@@STEVEHADDOCK No problems with the boat bought it new in 2020 but the trailer bunks are already having issues already replaced 4 there is 12. They are easy to replace just thought they should have lasted longer. I think it could be warranty work just don't want to tie up the boat and they don't cost much. I live 1 mile from the launch ramp so they do get used. We had a runabout for 14 years it was fun but love the pontoon. 300 hours on it now.
Great video. Thanks. I am wondering if the original transducer cable had a connector somewhere in the middle that was disconnected so that you could attach/tape it to the new cable and pull through the plastic side cowling or if you had to cut the old cable so it would pull through? Also, could you run the power cable with fuse directly to your starter battery versus getting power from the fuse panel or is the power cable not long enough for that option
The original transducer cable was a continuous cable and did not have a break in it. I actually taped the new cable end to the side of the old cable when I pulled it through. Then I untapped it and pulled the old cable out. I honestly don't recall exactly how long the power wires were from the factory. I'm sure you could splice more wire on if you needed it to run back to the battery.
@@STEVEHADDOCK Thanks for the clarification. I understand what you did. Hopefully I will be able to pull the new cable through without too much difficulty when I attempt the installation.
Hi, your video was a huge help today with my installation. Thanks 😊 My buddy thinks I should mount the transducer on the transom and not in the original mounted holes like you did. Not sure why. How is everything working out for you?
Awesome video and very clean install. Thanks for recording and sharing. I'm going to be working on mine soon. Noticed you had some LED strip lights installed. Do you have info on those lights?
I bought rolls of waterproof (IP67-68) LED strip lights, 22 ga tinned copper wiring and 3M adhesive mounting tape from Amazon and installed the LEDs under the gunnels and console (red LEDs), around the inside of each compartment, including the fuel tank/battery compartment, the under seat storage areas (white LEDs) and the live well (blue LEDs) using the 3M mounting tape. Each area is controlled a separate switch and low amp fuse. Installation required soldering the tiny 22ga wiring to create 90 degree turns or to connect multiple compartments together. They look fantastic in my Tracker and are especially useful when looking for things in the compartments in low light or after dark.
@@chauncyjordan6207 I also added a Nilight TL-10 16” trailer light bar (Amazon) to the rear of each of the angled trailer guide posts, wired into the trailer lights. I had to do a tiny bit of grinding of welds to make them fit, then spray painted over the grind marks. They look really cool from behind the trailer and also act as additional stop and turn signals.
I don’t think I stripped any but some of em were definitely hard to find. Seems like those square drive screw bits wear out pretty quickly as well. My camper uses the same type of screws and I bought a few of those square drive bits and drivers.

Thank you. Yes, you can see it pretty well from the bow. Last couple of times I went out I used it instead of the one on the bow because even being further away it is still easier to see than the small one up front.
Curious how you like the transducer on the stern instead of the bow? And how has the system worked for you so far? Any frequency interference etc? Thanks and nice install!
Thanks for the comments. I like the placement just fine. I have the transducer for the front graph on the trolling motor and that works fine as well. The system has been working well overall, no complaints. Tight lines!
I have the same boat I bought garmin 126sv and I’ve been over thinking where to mount the transducer the instructions said to mount it on the right side because of right hand rotation of prop and 15” away from the prop looks to me like bass tracker mounted on left and to close to the prop just for looks and not to manufacture specs for the transducer the hook 5 in my opinion has never worked that great other than being low end fish finder wonder if this could have something to do with why ?
