In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ruclips.net/user/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.
I just finished networking three 93sv's a qt54, 56 and panoptix on the same network you explained it so well. The Garmin GS10 was the key. Thanks again.
Excellent video with perfectly clear, straight forward and concise descriptions. Very helpful for planning my next Garmin equipment upgrades and/or replacements. Thank you!
@@RobsReloading there are cheaper solutions out there but you have to be careful as they aren’t waterproof. But with the correct precautions they can work well
Excellent content! I recently purchased a boat that had 2 Garmin Stryker7 units that I would like to upgrade and be able to share data between the units. Your step by step description is excellent and should allow me to upgrade to the Garmin Ultra units. Thanks for sharing the content & your knowledge! You provided the guidance I have been looking for!
Rock n Roll and Thank you!! Now have 2 UHD (cv/sv) units sharing a GT56 sonar and loving the functionality. Thanks again, second time you've helped me!!
Great video. Just picked up a 106 for the bow so I can move my 93 plus back to the console. As you said at one point I considered just getting another 93 but like you said the money I would spend on the GMS 10 in the end would have only been $25 cheaper than getting the 106
So wish I saw this a few nights ago before I bought my second 93sv and livescope! I didn't realize I would need to spend another $250 on the network port hub! The 106v was only $999 and I chose to be frugal and go w/ the 93sv not knowing the serious mistake!! That deal may be long gone forever...
I personally would go straight to the gt56. My other videos show the difference between the two and it’s pretty substantial. The gt56 will give you many more options and do many more things than the 54. Don’t get me wrong the 54 is still a great unit but the 56 severely improved on it.
Hi from Australia, love your work, very helpful. Just asking if I am able to network my EchoMap Ultra 105SV to a EchoMap UHD 75SV, I run livescope on the 105sv up front but was looking at putting a smaller unit on the console for depth, nav etc.
Hey man. Great video. I have a 93sv UHD with LiveScope on the bow and a 73sv UHD at the console. How would I connect considering the LiveScope is using by Ethernet port on the 93sv at the bow?
Hey thank you. The 7:54 mark will show you exactly how that is done. The “panoptix” port is miss leading as. The panoptix and networking ports are the same exact thing
Great video. As I understand it I could network a 93UHD with an Ultra106SV and livescope with only a network cable. Would this connection allow livescope screen to be shared with both units at the same time?
This is awesome man, exactly what I was looking for, I just got the 106 and I was wondering how to do this. Not sure if you know but what does the hookup look like for engine data from a merc over NMEA 2000?
Thank you! So there should be a nema port on the back of your unit as well. I’m not super up in the nema stuff but it is a standard and instructions can be found everywhere. I believe it will require a nema interface for your engine as well as a nema starter pack so that you can hook everything up. The nema network also requires a power input if I’m not mistaken
Thanks for making this video, I'm planning a boat build and was looking at a pair of Echomaps at the consol and one up front to eventually set up a livescope. You took the guesswork out of it, thanks again.
I have a Garmin Echomap 64CV, it does not have a network cable connection, but it has a 3rd plugin slot that I've never used and don't even know what it's for. Am I correct in guessing this unit cannot network to another screen then?
Thanks for the great info! I have an older (2017 I think) echomap 93sv and trying to direct connect to my new echomap UHD 93sv. When I connect the cable, I get a message on the older unit that says "Error - Remove unsupported devices from the Panoptix port". Is there something I need to change on the unit before connecting, or are they not compatible?
Hi Kevin, Either they need to be updated or the older screen isn’t compatible. It had to be a plus or newer to network. Being that it’s a 2017, it’s either a plus or a chirp. The plus will be touchscreen, the chirp will not. The chirp won’t network.
Great video! When sharing a transducer (GT54/56 or Livescope) that is connected to another charplotter on the network, does the other chartplotter has to be powered ON?
Great information here!! Question - What is needed for just having a mount at the bow so I can take my 93sv uhd from the console and use it there on occasion? I don't want to buy another unit ($$$}at this time. I see I can buy the mount but not sure how to wire it up. It would need power but how will it share the transducer? Is there a way to do this? Any response is greatly appreciated.
If I have 2 93SV uhd units one on the bow and one at the console both with GT54 transducers hooked to them how can I tell which GT54 transducer it is reading from?
Great video. I am just getting ready to network 2 73sv plus and 2 93UHD’s. This video confirms the way I thought I should do it. One question is if I purchase the new map Lake Vu g3 Ultra will I be able to view this on all 4 devices? I was going to install new maps on one of the 73’s and use the 93’s for just the sonar.
I just networked a 93SV Plus w/GT-52 (bow) and a 73SV UHD w/GT-54 (Console). When cruising the 93 is stowed the 73 will use its built in GT-54, however when the 93SV is on and in the water both it and the 73 will use the GT-52 for Down and Traditional sonar and the 54 for side view. I believe this helps with keeping the SideVu cleaner. My question is which setting should I use for each scenario, meaning lower or higher bandwidth? My thinking is to use a lower frequency when cruising and using the GT-54 to catch a larger area and a higher one when using the 93 when on the bow to get a stronger signal albeit smaller area. Is this what you would do or would you suggest doing something different. I typically fish no deeper than about 40-5- feet deep. One last question is regarding the TM mounted GT-52 in order for the preferred transducer switch to happen I have to turn the 93 off, I've tried putting it to sleep but the 73 still see's it but there isnt a signal. Any thoughts on how to do this differently so I dont have to wait for it to boot up when I get to my honey hole? Thanks for the input!
I’m sure this was asked already but couldn’t find it. I have two echomap 93sv’s. Can I share active tracks on the two units or do I have to save the tracks or how does it work? Thank you.
Nice work my dear, have a question, I have a GPSMap 7410xsv and GPSMap 5215 and i want to know if it is possible to link them like share the information between the two screen like you have done here with the Echomap please...
Great content and much needed. Any chance of doing an extensive video on waypoint and trail/track management. Mostly track management and use. There a none to be found anywhere. Thanks for sharing your knowledge
Hey will thank you! I do have a video on waypoints that goes into how to make them on all different types of sonar etc, have a look and see if it’s what you are after. As far as the trails, I think this is a flaw with the garmin echomaps. I can’t make sense of what they allow you to do with them and what they don’t. But I do plan on doing a video for tracks once I get it all squared away.
Your video is great and really helps explain this simply! It also gives me something to consider-using these units as a system versus stand alone. I'm in process of upgrading console and bow units. Current console unit doesn't have gps/maps and bow unit (striker 7cv) doesn't work with future plans for livescope, so I just bought the echomap uhd 93sv for bow as it will work for normal chartplotter for now and be a good unit for livescope in the future. That leaves me still no navigation capability at the console. I have opportunity to pickup a used echomap 73sv for around $350. If I'm looking for a budget friendly way to get map/nav at the console, and have it network with the 93sv up front, do you think this is a good solution or is there a less expensive way to go? When I get the livescope transducer, I will need to get the network expander, or as you've shown, possibly get a 10" unit or so for livescope at the bow, and move the 93sv to the console. I don't want to waste the 350 now if I'm going to replace it in the future. Thoughts on this? Thanks for your time and I just subscribed!
Hey Brian! Thank you for subscribing! As long as the 73sv is touch screen (plus/uhd) you won’t have any issues networking those two . I’m not positive if all the “chirp” models are able to network. As far as a cheap route. That 73sv would be a decent option Once they are networked. As far as upgrading the screens later I would definitely look into the ultra units. 1 you won’t need a network hub, and 2 they are a much better unit for side imaging etc. That being said, I would keep the 93 up front for live scope and use the 106 at the console as its much better at side imaging etc.
@@MGMarineTech Thanks for the response. I don't think the 73sv unit I'm referring to is touchscreen as it has all the up/down buttons and menu keys on the side, but is does have the panoptix port in the back. How would I find out for sure if this could be networked to the uhd93sv?
Brian for that one I would give garmin support a call. They are super helpful with that. I’m fairly confident that it will still work being that it has the panoptix port. And if I’m not mistaken I have heard of others networking units like that. I just would hate for you to buy it and not do what you want. The other option is to keep your eyes open for a 93sv plus. Those can typically be had for 400-500$ I have one I might be posting but only if I can find a deal on a 93 uhd to replace it.
@@MGMarineTech Hey Max I saw you on the Garmin Stiker/Echomap FB page! I started to PM with Brig about a combo as I may just go Livescope setup now and get it over with! Now it seems that the new GT56 may be a great way to go? It appears more detailed in the side by sides you posted. BTW, Scheels still has the UHD93sv for 599! For me, it seems the best price is when you buy a combo. I should have bought LS last Dec as I missed the 200 rebate.
Really good simple explanation! You said it a couple times, but the older Echomap Plus 93SV (currently with a GT52HW) will not benefit at all from a newer GT54UHD (or 56) transducer?
Outstanding content! Bought my first boat this month, plan on retiring soon. Got a great deal on Garmin electronics (2) 93 Echo Map UHD SV and a 73 Echo Map UHD SV, and the live scope system. To be sure I understand your how to video on this topic, I should be able to network these Garmin devices? Can I run 2 of the gt54 transducers on the transom or will they interfere with each other? Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your great information!
Hey Joe! Yes all of those devices are networkable. You will need a gms10 network hub to network them all. As far as two gt54 transducers on the transom, that is not necessary once they are networked as when they are are networked you can see any transducer that’s connected to any unit on any screen. That includes live scope. If you have any other question please feel free to ask!
@@MGMarineTech Thanks for the reply. I have a few more questions. Can you provide the part # for the Garmin Waterproof networking cables? Also I was recently able to upgrade to a MK Terrova Trolling motor with I-Pilot and U2D sonar, Can the Garmin units network with that trolling motors U2D sonar? If not I still should be able to power the trolling motor and leave the U2D sonar off/unpowered and attach a GT 54 to the trolling motor and get the benefits of traditional sonar/SV/Down View from my front unit, yes, no? My next question is about power. I will have added the 80lb thrust trolling motor, 1- 73SV mounted at the console/2-93sv mounted at the bow, plus my live scope GLS10 with the LVS32 transducer pole mounted and the GMS network hub to my G3 1710 boat . My system is a 24 volt system with a 3 bank battery charger. should I be looking to improve that based on the equipment I am adding to avoid battery drain during the day, or have worries about power drop, I would welcome any advice or suggestion you may have. Thanks Joe
@@sgmjay4945 The marine network cables come in different lengths, but can be found by googling “garmin marine network cable” or by contacting my buddies over at Hennessy outdoor electronics, they can get you setup with everything you need to network. The 6’ cable is part number 010-10550-00 As far as the units you are going to run. 1 73 and 2 93’s, I would highly recommend putting 1 of the 93’s at the console for better side imaging. You will want the larger screen possible for side imaging etc. As far as the built in transducer on the terrova it will require 2 adapters to hook it up to a garmin. A 12 to 8 pin and a 8 pin to 4 pin. That being said I would put a gt54 on the bottom of it to gain the side/down and better 2d. The only issue you might run into is interference when the trolling motor is on. (Working on a video on how to get rid of interference) Now for powering everything.. you will have at least 3 batteries. 2 for the trolling motor (and they should ONLY power the trolling motor THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!) and 1 “house/starting battery that is responsible for powering everything else. Here is the catch… your house/crank battery is going to have a lot of things drawing off of it (3 screen 1 live scope, bilge, stereo etc, etc) meaning you will either have to get the biggest battery you can fit or go with better technology so that you don’t end up stranded on the water. You have a couple of options here. 1 you could add a designated battery only for your sensitive electronics (anything that touches the garmin units) this battery could be another lead acid or go with a lithium (lithium is highly recommend) 2 you could replace your one house/start battery with a big lithium designed to start motors etc ( you have to make sure you have proper voltage going to the lithium while the engine is running so that it charges properly) I usually recommend that you just add a dedicated battery just for the electronics. WHICHEVER you do DO NOT leave the 3 bank charger connected to the battery that is powering the garmin units. 9/10 they will cause interference through the trolling motor. You will have to disconnect both power and ground. This can be easily accomplished with a single throw double pole switch inline for the 3rd bank of the charger. I hope that helps
Nicely detailed lots of great information, my question is i have garmin 1222 with lvs34 connected to a designated battery for scope only. Do i need a network cable to connect from graph to black box gls10 i need help please
Thanks for great info on the Garmin networking system. I bought a boat last year with two 93sv's and the units are not networked. Would appreciate your advice on how to network the two units. The front 93sv is connected to a GLS 10 Livescope black box. The front 93sv chart Panoptix Cat6 port is connected to the network port on the GLS 10 box and the other two ports on the front 93sv are open: NMEA and Sonar. The GLS 10 box has three ports. The Panoptix (or XDCR ) port on the GLS10 is connected to the LIvescope transducer. So there are no open ports on the GLS 10. The console 93sv has three ports. The Sonar port is connected to the stern transducer and the other two ports are open: Panoptix and NMEA. I was hoping to avoid the cost of a GMS Network Expander. Do you see a way to network the two 93svs without the GMS Network Expander? I saw but cannot now find a RUclips by Garmin on putting T's in the network cable instead of using the expander. Any help would be appreciated.
Unfortunately in your situation with 2 93’s and livescope to network them all you need a gms10 or other style router. You can use things like net gears but they aren’t waterproof or recommended. You have to then run a network cable from each device (gls10 and both 93’s) to the network expander.
Awesome video my ? Is in your last example you have the bigger screen with 2 ports at the console would there be any difference running the same setup and putting the 93 at the console and the 126 on the bow ? I would kinda prefer a bigger screen up front for panoptix
Great video. I have a question. I have a gps 7412xsv and a gos 8410xsv. I can no longer to updates to my 7412 and my 8410 performs much better with livescope than my 7412. Is it possible to view my 8410 screen through my 7412? screen.
Yes and no. You won’t be able to see exactly the 8410 screen, but you will be able to see livescope on it but you will still be limited to the hardware of the 7412. If you are looking to upgrade I’d be happy to help you out. I’m not a garmin authorized dealer! MGmarinetech.com
I have a 1022 gps live scope bundle on the bow. It has a empty network port on the back. What is the cheapest thing I can had to the counsel area that would have side scan or maybe load active captive captain to mirror my live scope? Thank You !
I have a Garmin Ultra 102sv w/GT54 and live scope on front of boat. Installed a Echomap 93sv UHD to bow. The cradle for the 93sv only has the NMEA 2000 and panoptics ports on it. Which port is used to network them together with a Garmin network cable ? Thanks for your time and videos.
The panoptix plug is the one that you would use. On the 73/93 they are labeled as panoptix on the 106/126 they are labeled as network. Both do the same thing .
I am networking 2 93 UHD’s and Livescope. Do I need to run the power and ground (7pin) to the GMS 10 or do you only do that if everything is to power off and on with one switch.
Awesome video, forgive me if I missed this or didn't catch it somewhere in your video. I have two 93vs UHDs and a livescope. I mounted one of my 93s on the console with its transducer running to the transom. The other unit will be mounted on the bow and the included transducer will be put on the trolling motor. I will run the livescope off of a different DIY mount along the side. I plan to run the livescope from the black box to the front 93. Can I still network the two 93s together? What connector will I need? Thanks
Hey AJ, you absolutely can. If you look at 7:36 that example will be what you need to do. It will show two 93’s and live scope. The only difference will be that you will have two transducers which won’t affect networking. You will need the gms-10 to connect the two 93’s and live scope. But once they are you will be able to use any transducer on any screen including live scope
No problem at all, this is why I created this channel was to help. To further clarify, you will need the GMS-10 and 2 networking cables (live scope should have its own) Give my friends over at Hennessy outdoor electronics a shout and they will be able to get you hooked up with anything you need!
@@MGMarineTech One other question along these lines... I hear all the time that you need a dedicated battery to run the livescope so I bought a Dakota 23AH battery. Should I use that battery just for the livescope power supply or can I use it for my bow mounted 93 and the gms-10? It is easier to get power from the other batteries for the bow mounted 93 if you don't think that will cause issues.
So there are a couple of reason that people run a dedicated power supply for their live scope. 1 it’s “clean” power to reduce the chance for interference etc. and 2 the live scope can be a battery hog. So a dedicated battery assures you won’t be stranded on the water. You very well could use it for the for the live scope and bow mounted unit and gms-10 just the more that’s running off of it the faster it will drain. I personally run all of my sensitive electronics (graphs etc) off of a dedicated battery. This helps achieve the clearest picture and reliable voltage all day.
@@MGMarineTech thanks for the response! I just bought the UHD2 95sv ECHOMAP, and the other i have is a GPSMAP, and I networked them, and unsupported, then I watched your video saying they're not compatible, dang! oh well, I'll just have to buy another ECHOMAP without a transducer, save some $$$
Hey Justin. I see you can read any transducer from either unit i.e CV52HW or GT54 UHD. In order to do this the CV52HW has to be hooked up to one of the other units so that unit is the processor for that transducer? Or, can two transducers be connected directly to the network hub and allow one head unit to access either transducer by switching it thru setup, source? Is that correct? Just trying to verify if there is a way to go directly to the other transducer without having to actually physically plug/unplug the cable itself. You may have already answered this question for me or not. I believe I may have inquired about being able to do so via a Y cable connection.
I bought two Echomap UHD 93sv units and Livescope. I plan to put one up front with the Livescope, the other on the console. Would I still need a GMS 10 Network Expander to connect the two units? Thanks
Could you please answer my question, I have 2 93 uhd units. One at bow will be running livescope, and one at console. I want to network the units together and need to know what all I need to buy?
Good afternoon J Adam’s, that exact example it covered in this video at 7:39. It’s 2 93’s and live scope. You will need a gms10 and 2 network cables. The live scope should have its own network cable.
@@bucknuts8824 the only extras that I can think of would be the 2 cables. And wiring supplies to power the gsm10. Hope that helps, thank you for watching!
@@MGMarineTech I was planning on doing this exact same thing, till i found out All Gsm10 port expanders are on back order. Also curious as to cost difference between the port expander (214.00-250) to what an upgraded unit might be. Thanks
@@ribbs67 yes both ultra units have 2 network ports. This will allow you to network 3 devices. Check with Hennessy outdoor electronics they might have a gms10 in stock. They got me mine a few weeks ago. I believe the gms10 run around 250$ If you only need to network 3 devices thats 250$ you could put into the MUCH better ultra units.

I have a 73sc UHD Echo map on the front and a 93 UHD Echo map on the console, both have a Gt56 transducer, question; do I have to reset these units individually? Thanks for the help.
I have an echomap plus and a UHD both are 75sv. I linked them with an ethernet cord and can switch the transducers between the units but the waypoints are not transferring from one unit to the other...am I missing a setting?
Your video was very helpful, thank you, but I am still at a slight loss of knowledge here, I hope you can help me out. I am 70 now so it has been a long time since my SCI-TEX paper graph fish finder and even older first Gen Humingbird that the pixels were about 1/16” square haha. I am helping another older gentleman, who knows less than me, setup his new/used 20’ fishing pontoon in Michigan. We picked up a Garmin EchoMap 73SV package with the GT54UHD transducer. We would like to put up a less expensive but network compatible from Garmin, on the bow, with the transducer on the trolling motor. If you have time could you answer these questions or guide me where I could find out. 1- Will the EchoMap 73SV network connect via ethernet CAT5 to a Garmin ECHOMAP UHD2 53cv 5" Chartplotter with GT20-TM Transducer (they are on sale for $249)? 2- If the answer is yes to #1, then can this interoperability work: A- Would the 53CV be able to pull up way points from the 73CV via the network? If so then can the 53CV be able to ‘route to’ those way points it got from the 73CV? B- Can the 53CV, also connect to the GT54UHD transom mounted side-scan transducer, via the 73CV ? If so, can the 53CV also display the side scan image like it can on the 73CV? Again , great presentation and video, thank you! Greg
Hi Greg! Unfortunately, the 53cv uhd2 is not able to network with the graph you guys have. I would suggest another 73uhd or similar. Where in michigan are you located? I am in michigan as well! I am also a Garmin dealer and have used units come through every once in a while.
@@MGMarineTech awesome another Michigan guy. I am located in S/W Michigan just outside of the town of Coloma. And thank you for letting me know they are not compatible for the purpose I was looking for. Greg
@@MGMarineTech no kidding that is close. Received the 73sv this morning. What a wonderful offer and given I am semi handicapped maybe so. But if you get a used one that could tell me what is on sale that i could network another one to it would be helpful. Thanks so much. Greg.
I have an Echomap 94sv for the bay and Gulf of Mexico. I want add a second smaller 7” screen for displaying other data. I’m looking used 74 sv/cv and 73 cv/sv. Of course I don’t need another transducer, so sv/cv does not matter, but would the 94 maps work on the 73?
Hello, thanks for the video. Nice job. Can you tell me if my installed GCV10 will network my new 126sv? I have a gpsmap 1040sx connected to a GCV10. The GCV10 has a GT30 DV SV transducer. My 1040sx has a GT8HW connected straight to it. Will I be able to share between all? My plan is to now use my 1040sx for gps mapping only 90% of the time. And the new 126sv as sonar. We only troll for kokanee, trout, river salmon, and bay Halibut.
Nice. It is better to install pantopix transducer at bow or transom to share??? It in a bass boat platform. Can I hook up two 93svuhd to 1 106svultra without panoptix without hub box?? I think I need hub since the 106sviltra only has two ports.. n how many extra cat5 cables I need?
I would put the livescope transducer at the bow on a dedicated pole. With 2 93’s and 1 102, you don’t need a gms10, Just 2 network cables. If you add livescope you will need a gms10
@@umienh916 I actually recommend that you put the bigger screen at the console. And yes they ultras are a “echomap” so they are networkable with all the echomap units for the most part.
Have you ever had an issue after networking with a message stating you have two many active captain network cards active when both fish finders are on?
While in the boat you say all the units in the boat can read the connected transducers CV and a BT. Later in the video you say it is important to know that non uhd units can not use uhd transducers and vice versa. I’m confused.
With all three of my graphs networked together they can share any connected transducers. That being said for them to work properly and actually run in “uhd” the uhd transducers need to be connected to the uhd units. You can connect a uhd transducer to a non uhd unit but it will revert back to non uhd settings and not show a uhd picture. So again uhd transducers get connected to uhd units and then they can be shared in uhd to non uhd units via the network. I hope that helps
Simple. I have a video that goes over this exact scenario and goes into more detail as to why I recommend what I do etc . (Called: Quick tip!! Big screen at the bow or console?? ) But what I always recommend in most cases is to run the best side imaging unit at the console. This almost always means the bigger unit. (Especially between the 93 and the 106) Put the 93 at the bow, and mount the livescope wherever you are going to fish from and network them all as described in this video. And the 106 at the console. Side imaging will cover more water faster and allow you to find that productive water or structure faster. Once you find it pop the livescope in to verify. Hope that helps
Question: I installed the Garmin Echomap Ultra 126s , replacing my old Garmin, and I have the Garmin Gold TR1 also on the boat. It was never interfaced with my old Garmin Map unit. Is it possible to hookup the TR1 with its 19 pin cord to my new Unit. The 2000 network?
Great video! Are there any Garmin units that will run the Panoptix livescope LVS12 transducer alone without the GLS 10 black box? And if I'm only running 2 units, would I need the network hub or just network cable between the 2 units?
I believe the ultra units will run the LVS12 without a black box. As for just 2 units all that is needed is a cable. If it’s 2 units and live scope you will need a hub (depending on the units you have as the ultras have 2 network ports)
I just verified the lvs12 is compatible with the ultra units and the gps map 8400 series without a black box. There are benefits to the lvs32 though Feel free to message me on my Facebook page and I can help you get everything setup and picked out.
This is a evolving situation. There has been text released from garmin stating the new UHD2 Units can wirelessly network with existing UHD and ULTRA units. But i believe it’s yet to come with a update..
I had a 93sv echo with the upgraded card on the bow . Now I have a 126sv echo I want on the bow and move the 93 to the council . Do I need to add in a nemma 2000 sistem in also? I want to be able to use my units one at a time when I'm fishing solo . Can I down load my upgraded card from last season into my 126 ? I also want to use my 93 seperate in my ice fishing kit . Do you have wiring diagrams for what I will need to do please ?
No nmea network is needed. You will simply need a “Ethernet” style network cable as shown in this video. As far as the mapping. Once the 93 is networked to the 126 the 126 will see the map card.
Hey Justin! I havea question. I am going to network my new 93sv UHD (at the console) to my original 93sv plus on my trolling motor. I have the GT54 transducer I purchased from you on the new UHD and the GT52 on the trolling motor. My question is this. What mode should the trolling motor unit be operating in while not deployed into the water when I'm spending time searching a lake from the console? Do I just turn the trolling motor unit on in normal operating mode so when I mark a waypoint from the console unit it's automatically shared? Or, do I need to use another operating mode? I ask this question because I remember reading that operating the unit with transducer out of water "could cause it to overheat and cause damage to the transducer". What are your thoughts? Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.
The 54 should be on the transom and attached to the uhd unit. 52 to the plus unit on the trolling motor. If the trolling motor is out of the water for a long period of time 10-15 min + I would just simply sleep the unit. Hit the power button once and hit sleep on that menu.
Hi, great video and discussion here. I have two 93SV UHD units which I would like to mount to my dash, and then add (probably) a 126 at the bow to run livescope (Lvs 31 ducker). Couple of questions: what is the appropriate transducer (stern mounted) for the 93s?; can i connect all three units without the networking connector; what cables would i need to make all this work; will i be able to see both transducers on any of the 3 units? For the 2nd question I’m thinking “yes” since the 126 has two ports according to your video. So (I think) i could terminate the transducer cable to the first 93; pull the network cable to the 126, back out of the 126 using the 2nd port to the 2nd 93. Is that right? THanks!
Hi Dwayne, To network 2 93’s a 126 and livescope you will need a gms10. I’d it’s just the 2 93’s and a 126 you don’t. As far as a transducer, I would do the gt56 hands down.
Thanks for the info. Do have one question, I’m looking to ad a second uhd93sv to the console. Can both units operate independently from a gt56 transducer? Thanks g
Well--if I take the gt 54 transducer off and install the new gt56 transducer that comes with the new unit will both the uhd93sv units operate from one transducer? Can I run down imaging on one side imaging on the other off the same transducer and so on,
@@MGMarineTech let me say it one more time, can I run (2) uhd93sv units from (1) transducer with the internet connection cable from one unit to the other. And each unit operate independently from each. I hope I’m asking the right question. You must be the most patient person in the world to put up with these questions
Great info, I do have one question. You had stated you could use a CAT5 cable to accomplish this. I seen somewhere else it said something about it having to be a crossover cable? Is this true or can you just go to Best Buy and by a CAT5 patch cable off the shelf and it work?
I am unsure of exactly what my cable is, but yes garmin specs say a cross over style cable. I do not know what it does if it doesn’t have the crossover etc. The standard Ethernet cable that I show in the video cam with like a Comcast router. I do however highly recommend that you either make your own cable with the water proof ends or buy the garmin cable as they will be waterproof.
@@MGMarineTech If it is not a crossover cable it will NOT work on the direct connection When you are Using the gms10 or any network hub you will use standard straight through cables the crossover will not work.
Hey man! Great video! I just wanted to ask you before I start buy ling a bunch of things. I have 2 93sv uhd units with gt54 transducer with panoptix. Is there anyway I can network them together with out the GMS10? Maybe just use one transducer for the transom and livescope only instead of 2 transducers? I have both units brand new in the box still haven’t had time to install anything yet. Wanted to make sure I know what I’ll Need before buying a bunch of unnecessary items. Thank you in advanced!
Thank you! To network 2 93’s and panoptix or live scope you will need to have some kind of network hub. Some have done it with standard network hubs other than the garmin but they aren’t waterproof. The reason you will need a network hub or expander to network them all is because those units only have 1 port each. And the live scope will need to be plugged into one of them which would leave no ports to be able to connect the other unit. Which is where the expander comes in. You plug each unit into the expander as well as the livescope to the expander.
Hello and Thanks. This has been so helpful. Does this same approach apply to connecting two GPSMAP 943xvs with Force Trolling Motor ? I also want to add the SteadyCast Sensor and want to be able to see Engine Data from a Mercury 115 Pro XS. Assuming that causes me to add the GMS 10 ?> How do you connect to the motor for data ? Realize asking a lot....Thank you so much. I will call Hennessey as well.
Hey Patrick! I’m glad they have been helpful! The same concept will apply to the gpsmap units. Just remember you can’t network a gpsmap to a echomap. The force trolling motor networks wirelessly to either type of unit, so you are good to go there. As far as the gms10, it just depends which/how units you have and how many network ports they have. Some of the gpsmap units have 2 ports just like the echomap ultras. As far as steady cast sensor and engine you need to build a NMEA 2000 network for both of those. I suggest watching my NMEA 2000 basics video, it will show you how to do that. Hope this helps!! And yes Hennessy is great to deal with!
Super new to Fishfinders.. I can't get these two to communicate with one another. Echomap UHD 106sv & Echomap Chirp 94sv. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
This was by far the easiest video to understand as far as networking
That’s great to hear thank you!
Thank you!

Very good and Clean/Clear video on the necessary features and networking abilities for these units! Thanks!!!
Good job explaining this. Best explanation I've found on the web. Better than customer support at Garmin. Thanks for doing this!

Great video. Just picked up a 106 for the bow so I can move my 93 plus back to the console. As you said at one point I considered just getting another 93 but like you said the money I would spend on the GMS 10 in the end would have only been $25 cheaper than getting the 106
Great video! I'm rigging a new boat and your examples are gonna save me some $s. Thanks!
Great quality video mate , filled in a few blanks for me that’s for sure
Great video !!! I was wondering how all of that worked. You nailed it !!!

for vertical fishing for zander in the lake, which transducer do you recommend, gt54uhd or gt56uhd

You sure can as they are both in the echomap family !
I run a 126 ultra and 2 93sv plus’s
Cleared a lot up for me.
Great video. As I understand it I could network a 93UHD with an Ultra106SV and livescope with only a network cable. Would this connection allow livescope screen to be shared with both units at the same time?
Yes absolutely, this is the setup I run and love it.
This set up you are running what kinda batteries would you recommend with the garmin force trolling motor also added? Maybe a 8 hr day fishing
I just got an 8616 and was gonna sell one of 2 1222’s. I did not realize I could network them, especially the map system that comes with with 8616.

Hi Kevin,
Either they need to be updated or the older screen isn’t compatible.
Yes, all units will have to be ok to share/receive data
Great information here!! Question - What is needed for just having a mount at the bow so I can take my 93sv uhd from the console and use it there on occasion? I don't want to buy another unit ($$$}at this time. I see I can buy the mount but not sure how to wire it up. It would need power but how will it share the transducer? Is there a way to do this? Any response is greatly appreciated.
You will need:
2 transducers
2 power cables
2 mounts
If I have 2 93SV uhd units one on the bow and one at the console both with GT54 transducers hooked to them how can I tell which GT54 transducer it is reading from?
Under some of the settings you can name the units differently. Such as now or console.
Or you can simply unplug one and see which one still works.
Thank you for watching,
With it being a add on mapCard you should be able to see it on any of the connected units.
Thanks for the video! Can I network 93sv UHD (and Livescope) to a 106sv Ultra without a GMS10 hub?
Yes sir, that exact example is in this video.

@@MGMarineTech thanks MG. Yes trails are very confusing on garmins. I was used to lowrance ,which seemed easy probably because I had them for so long
Your video is great and really helps explain this simply!
Those can typically be had for 400-500$
I have one I might be posting but only if I can find a deal on a 93 uhd to replace it.

Really good simple explanation! You said it a couple times, but the older Echomap Plus 93SV (currently with a GT52HW) will not benefit at all from a newer GT54UHD (or 56) transducer?
Correct
The marine network cables come in different lengths, but can be found by googling “garmin marine network cable” or by contacting my buddies over at Hennessy outdoor electronics, they can get you setup with everything you need to network. The 6’ cable is part number 010-10550-00
As far as the units you are going to run.
(Working on a video on how to get rid of interference)
Now for powering everything.. you will have at least 3 batteries.
1 you could add a designated battery only for your sensitive electronics (anything that touches the garmin units) this battery could be another lead acid or go with a lithium (lithium is highly recommend)
2 you could replace your one house/start battery with a big lithium designed to start motors etc ( you have to make sure you have proper voltage going to the lithium while the engine is running so that it charges properly)
I usually recommend that you just add a dedicated battery just for the electronics.

Nope, the routing would be the same, you just might have to get different length cables etc to make them fit your application

Yes and no.
You won’t be able to see exactly the 8410 screen, but you will be able to see livescope on it but you will still be limited to the hardware of the 7412.
If you are looking to upgrade I’d be happy to help you out. I’m not a garmin authorized dealer!

@@MGMarineTech wow, I did miss that in the video. Sorry, and thanks for the kind reply despite my silly question that you had already answered.
If you have NMEA connection, do you need a separate power source for the screen unit?
Yes absolutely
@@MGMarineTech Thanks.
hi great video!, so, you can just run one transducer and use the one transducer via networking on multiple echomaps?
That is correct. As long as they are compatible units to be networked.

Thanks
Yes with the livescope you’ll need a gms10. There is a diagram for this in this video

@@ribbs67 yes both ultra units have 2 network ports. This will allow you to network 3 devices.

Once they are networked, they should al update at the same time. (It might do one by one) but it will all be in one process
2- If the answer is yes to #1, then can this interoperability work:
A- Would the 53CV be able to pull up way points from the 73CV via the network? If so then can the 53CV be able to ‘route to’ those way points it got from the 73CV?
B- Can the 53CV, also connect to the GT54UHD transom mounted side-scan transducer, via the 73CV ? If so, can the 53CV also display the side scan image like it can on the 73CV?
Again , great presentation and video, thank you! Greg
Hi Greg!
Unfortunately, the 53cv uhd2 is not able to network with the graph you guys have. I would suggest another 73uhd or similar.

With 2 93’s and 1 102, you don’t need a gms10,
Just 2 network cables.
If you add livescope you will need a gms10
@@MGMarineTech makes sense since the bigger unit has two ports. I would be buying a 106sv ultra. Are those compitable with the 93sv uhd??
@@umienh916 I actually recommend that you put the bigger screen at the console.
And yes they ultras are a “echomap” so they are networkable with all the echomap units for the most part.
Have you ever had an issue after networking with a message stating you have two many active captain network cards active when both fish finders are on?
Only when there is more than 1 active captain card.
Only 1 “Active Captain” card per network
@@MGMarineTech it does. Thanks for replying. Enjoyed your video and look forward to more.
I have a 93UHD and a 106UHD and have a GT54 and 56 as well as LS. Trying to decide the best way to install them on the boat. What would you do?
Simple. I have a video that goes over this exact scenario and goes into more detail as to why I recommend what I do etc . (Called: Quick tip!! Big screen at the bow or console?? )
But what I always recommend in most cases is to run the best side imaging unit at the console. This almost always means the bigger unit. (Especially between the 93 and the 106)
Put the 93 at the bow, and mount the livescope wherever you are going to fish from and network them all as described in this video. And the 106 at the console.
Side imaging will cover more water faster and allow you to find that productive water or structure faster. Once you find it pop the livescope in to verify.
Hope that helps

Great video! Are there any Garmin units that will run the Panoptix livescope LVS12 transducer alone without the GLS 10 black box? And if I'm only running 2 units, would I need the network hub or just network cable between the 2 units?
I believe the ultra units will run the LVS12 without a black box.
As for just 2 units all that is needed is a cable.
If it’s 2 units and live scope you will need a hub (depending on the units you have as the ultras have 2 network ports)
I just verified the lvs12 is compatible with the ultra units and the gps map 8400 series without a black box.
There are benefits to the lvs32 though

THanks!

Wanted to make sure I know what I’ll
Need before buying a bunch of unnecessary items.
