The Amazing Kodak Project Portable Projector - REVIEWED

  • A video projector small enough to slip into your pocket isn't going to pack massive lumens or work projecting a movie onto your barn, but for a tiny device, the Kodak Pocket Portable Projector does an amazingly good job! Plug in an HDMI source, play off a MicroSD card you've pre-loaded with a few movies, it can work surprisingly well if you accept its limitations.
    Tech expert Dave Taylor of www.AskDaveTaylor.com/ checks out the Kodak Pocket Portable Projector and finds it's quite a remarkable device, well worth your attention.

    This device SUPPORT 1080p videos, but the actual resolution is only 360p (according to several online stores selling it). But 360p is enough to keep me entertained while camping, so im considering buying it.

Can you set up a pitch dark room and a projector-ready surface (like a projection screen)? Then it can get pretty big. @@AskDaveTaylor I enjoyed listening to your video Dave. I think you have a really nice on screen presence. If I walked into a store thinking about buying something and you would be there to ensure me it is what I'm looking for, I would buy it. As a matter of fact, I ordered that very projector shortly after watching this video... But I did look up some reviews first. You made a nice video and you 'sold' me the product. I stand buy the first part of my comment. Nice video and a great sales pitch. But I don't think you properly reviewed the product. You showed the projector projecting on a wall behind you. We saw it can project at this distance and that it's performance in a lit room is ok but not great. You showed us it can play unplugged, from a micro SD card. And then you stoped showing us and started telling. The 18 inch display... Great, can you show me? I would like to see the image quality. The build-in speakers... Fantastic! But maybe you can play something so I can judge the sound? Yes, it would be coming through your microphone and then speakers on whatever device I'm using. But I can at least hear how loud they are. It is great for presentations! Outstanding but can I maybe see how it looks displaying a random excel chart in a dark room? It has HD resolution! Native resolution Vs supported resolution is an easy mistake to make for an unaware costumer. But not for someone rewieving or even recommending the product who should be familiar with it. That was called out in your comments, you could have used RUclips editor to amend it, you still can.
      For every negative you mentioned you instantly slipped into 'but it is so cool, so small so light'. To me a review is presenting the product. Its good sides and its bad sides. I also want to hear your opinion about it, but I want to see it separated from the review. You were so focused on presenting your opinion on the product that you couldn't even present the price other than 'This thing is so cheap I am not even going to tell you...' I just want to see the price. I don't care if it's cheap or expensive to you. I know how much is 200 dollars and what I can do with it.
      And then you include a link in your description titled 'Learn more' that takes me to a place where I can buy it. It's not 'buy the projector' it's 'learn more'. But I must admit, Amazon page does have the actual resolution there.
      I think you geniuenly liked the product Dave. I believe you were honest praising it, becouse you liked it. I enjoyed hearing your opinion on it. But a review to me is made on facts, concluded by author's opinion. Sadly to me there was no separation between product specifications/capabilities and your opinion. It is a great impressions video. It's not a review.

      We can agree to disagree. I appreciate the time you spent entering this detailed comment, however, but it's impossible to demonstrate every feature on a product of this complexity without having a review that's far longer than anyone will watch.

      @@AskDaveTaylor If you ever make an hour long, extremly detailed video about this projector I would gladly watch it. But I am dissapointed Dave. If you deem a palm-size projector, described by its producer as the simplest of its line, with simple plug-and-play operation, too complex to be adequatly reviewed on a channel where, to my understanding, you present various tech equipement and gadgets... Maybe concider doing reaction videos instead? Unboxings? You don't really need to know a product to show your excitement about it. And you are very good at presenting your thoughts on a product. Well, that depends on how far from the wall I have the projector. The problem for a video review like I made is that the further you move the unit from the wall, the bigger the image (good!) but the dimmer the image (bad and hard to capture). In a pitch dark room, you can make a pretty darn big image with this!

    I read reviews on Amazon about Kodak Luma (150, 350, 450). How is it possible so much stars and so much 1 star experience? Big disappointment, only expansive paperweight, nothing works properly and some features doesn't work either.

    • @AskDaveTaylor
      @AskDaveTaylor  5 месяцев назад

      Assuming those reviews are legit and honest. You also have to have realistic expectations; if you're buying a low lumen projector because it's tiny, you can't expect it to project a 150" image in a well-lit room and have it be visible, let alone watchable. This tech has also advanced since this review was published. As with so much tech, the more $$ you spend, the better the gear you get.
