      Minor correction on the weight of the Halo Plus, you said 686g, but the scale showed 1686g (ruclips.net/video/wFcLjrGhJZA/видео.html ), that's a significant difference.

      ruclips.net/video/g4mmiR6wprM/видео.html As you can see the Mogo Pro isn't really showing 1080p due to the small 540p DMD which is pixelshifted. The Elfin from Xgimi is also pixelshifted but since it is a larger DMD and higher than 540p originally it shows almost the same as 1080p res. I'm only mentioning this as you say in the video you prefer the 1080p from the Mogo Pro than the 720p on the competing projector but in reality the 720p may be better (the 720p H8 from wowoto I tried with the Mogo Pro once seemed sharper to me than the Mogo Pro and also had a far more vibrant image).@@TheHookUp

    This projector gets the job done pretty well. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxS9P8zTOcmQg-hH0QeUi3dspOLyYgQ6dH Bear in mind it's a mini projector but all things considered the picture quality is pretty good. The attached photo is of the projector projecting onto my white closet doors. I still have not messed with the settings but I can't wait for our first family movie night on a larger scale. If you have issues with volume not working with your firestick, go into volume settings and you will find your solution there.

    Projection distance would have been an interesting metric to note. I'm contemplating buying a projector that we could also use outside for movie nights during the summer and we'll need a longer range. But even though mobile would feels like it should fit this scenario I suspect a lot of them aren't powerful enough for much more than a few meters. But, the quality of work in the rest of the comparisons was really helpful and I thank you for the clear and comprehensive comparisons for so many core metrics. You've informed my next steps for my own rental comparisons. Thanks for your work!

    Hello, I am writing to you from Turkey. I am looking for a portable projector. I watched your videos carefully. I saw that you did not like the Samsung freestyle model in one of your videos, but it got a good score in the collective projector comparison (it is in the top 3). My expectations from the projector are as follows ( 1. If possible, it should be self-powered or rechargeable with powebank for use in camps. 2. I want the image quality to be really satisfactory. 3. The sound quality can be in average conditions.) In this direction, Xgimi Halo plus, Nebula Capsule 3 laser, Samsung freestyle, Viewsonic m2e, Fengmi S5 these models attracted attention. Which one do you think I should choose? Or if you have a different suggestion, I would be very happy. Thanks for your support in advance 🙏

      I still think $900 for a 250 ANSI lumen projector with no battery, slow OS, and limited connectivity was absolutely insane. Especially since they were marketing it as a TV replacement. They have now cut the price by roughly 50% and have a battery option (which also needs a price cut), which make it a much more reasonable option.

    Just an FYI, the BenQ GV11/GV30 both use a stick-style streamer behind an access panel. If Netflix is a must have for you, you can spend $20 and get a base FireTV Stick and replace the Android TV stick that they come with, and it only takes a couple of minutes so if you don't like the Amazon stuff you can easily swap them back for everything except Netflix.

    • @TheHookUp
      @TheHookUp  Год назад +2

      I've tried this and would definitely recommend against it for the GV30, in my experience it lowers battery life considerably (about 60% of what you get using the BENQ stick). I also know some of the remote functionality is directly tied to the streaming stick, so I'm not sure what side effects you'd see on the GP500.

    Hi, awesome! Can you please include in your testing a 4K 60FPS input smoothness test? Like from a video game that you know runs smoothly at 60 frames per second as I consider this the number one make or break factor for what I'm looking for. In any projector at any price point really. Your videos have been a great resource for getting a fuller understanding of what is available! I'm on my seventh projector now between the $180 to $350 range and your latest video has helped me determine my next upgrade to be the Yaber Ace K1, though I still am working right now on mounting it so I can test its 4K 60 performance. BTW I found with all six of my previous before the ace k1 that all of the internal parts are compatible and swappable between all those different projectors. Including two of the same projectors from the same Amazon listing that had two totally different sets of internal parts inside! One with a good set of parts which represented the only one (processor PCB) that could do a 4K 60 input smoothly, and the other one with all crap parts including a smaller internal screen. Thank you!

    • @TheHookUp
      @TheHookUp  Год назад +2

      Why run your console output at 4K60 when your projector can only output 1080p60? I can guarantee the downscaling done by the console will be significantly higher quality than the downscaling done by the projector and your console hardware will run smoother and load faster at 1080p60.

      @@TheHookUp Hi thanks for seeing and replying to my comment. Not from a console but from my PC and for both PC games and 4K movie and vidio files. And I can attest to a clear and significant difference that the projector does a beautiful job at displaying that 4K signal as to opposed to a 1080 signal. it really makes it look like it's as close to 4K as you can get without actually being 4K. 4K RUclips videos and everything look stunningly spectacular! Clearly significantly better, and funny enough without increasing its lag time of 40ms. I truly feel lucky to have found that processor board. So, test for smooth 4k playback? It could be an opportunity to create more videos with the equipment that you already have. ;) :)

      @@TheHookUp groovy! one tip; is that it seems like all of these projectors built-in sharpening algorithm sucks horribly and is at a shader resolution of 1080p, obviously, so turn the sharpening setting down to zero, or I found that a value of up to 21 is also just fine, at least for the processors pcbs that run the same firmware as the Yaber Ace k1 which is the same firmware type that's on my (super) processor PCB. For a bit of background on my experience I am an electronic repair technician for arcade and redemption games, have experience with high resolution texture rework artwork and shader creation and implementation, with 20/10 vision ;) I also use my like custom assembled little projector here as my daily driver on my PC at home in my huge, over 1,000 sqft, home theater / workshop. With these projectors I go through a full suite of testing and disassemble them all for evaluation before sending them back for having too much lag or not being able to do 4K 60 or having small crappy screens and inside of them. Lol. Good luck and hope you come up with some definitive results. Cheers

    This is the absolute best projector review/comparison I've seen so far!
    I have a question: Wemax Go Advanced has a DMD chip with a native 540p resolution, using pixel shift technology to produce a 1080p image.
    Would you say the 1080p produced by the Go Advanced is as sharp and clear than the other native 1080p projectors? Or is it cleary worse?

    • @TheHookUp
      @TheHookUp  Год назад +2

      I've experienced quite a few pixel shifted resolutions. I would say that as a whole I cannot tell the difference when it comes to clarity. I also think pixel shifted resolutions have less screen door effect because the pixels tend to overlap rather than having distinct borders.

    • @FelippeMendesMacedo
      @FelippeMendesMacedo Год назад

      @@TheHookUp thank you for you answer! It's good to read an opinion from someone who understands about this subject!
      About the screen door effect, I really can't tell how it would look like in a native 1080p projector, but in my Go Advanced I can clearly see the 960 x 540 mirrors of the the DMD chip on my 93" screen. Because of that, I had the impression that a native 1080p could bring me a clearer image.
      This is my first ever projector and this resolution "issue" was quite disapponting for me, and I was considering to return the product back to China and buy another projector. But reading your opinion is making me thinking twice.

    • @TheHookUp
      @TheHookUp  Год назад

      I think that's a 1080p issue more than a pixel shifting issue. Can you notice the lower resolution during movies/video, or only in menus/text screens?

    • @FelippeMendesMacedo
      @FelippeMendesMacedo Год назад

      @@TheHookUp I think it could be a 1080p problem as you described. In fact, in menus and texts is where it really bothers me. The pixels are still visible in movies and videos, but the "mixed color effect" due to pixel shifting seems to smooth the pixels a little bit, something like a antialiasing...
      I watch a bunch of anime too. In animes the pixels are as visible as in menus, but it must be due to the lack of color shading in the scenes...
      Thank you again! I'm now happier with my purchase and decided to keep the projector!

    Would love you to check out and do a review of the Lumos Atom Portable Projector which the manufacturer claims is the most powerful portable projector that has 6000 Lumens of output and able to go up to 300". Would be great to see a comparison with the Nebula Capsule 3 since they have a common design language. Personally, I do not believe the claims by the manufacturers but curious to see how far off their claims are to real-world usage.

    Which out of these reviewed projectors would be best for brightness, image quality/sharpness to just show pictures? Not needing it for much anything else but portability is nice to have of course.
