It cannot be understated how important this band was for the heavy scene in Canada, and Australia and the UK to a lesser extent. These guys style and arrangements nearly laid the blueprint for Metalcore. I would recommend listening to "Happiness by the Kilowatt", "The Northern", and "Young Cardinals"
What this mans saying is very much what the song is about. but why didn't he talk about how good the song is written, structured and just a banger of an instrumental track alone?
This song is from their first album when they were still figuring out their sound. You said they sound like teenagers shouting at their parents but these guys were literally like 15 when they wrote this. I highly recommend listening to their later work, Watch Out! and Crisis are my two favorites. Dog's Blood is also a great listen.
@@SkorpioVenom Fair enough haha. Oh yeah this is one of their less punchy songs but all of their songs Watch out onwards are brilliant! What do you think to the new one 'Familiar Drugs' ?
@@SkorpioVenom Yeah at first to me it sounded quite gritty and some parts seemed to be drowned out, but after watching an interview where they say it was just them and a engineer I can understand it. Definitely sounds like a mix of Dogs blood and their earlier stuff and I'm glad it still has that aof sound and not anything different.
George's screams and the wiki description of the band work better for the debut album and its subject matter. Over time they've evolved into lyrics with more world views, global warming, drug addiction, and such. The screams also changed to match a more sophisticated style. (of course I pref the old stuff. ;) )
Yeah, i got picked up on that the day i made the video... In my defense though, given that it's all one word with no spaces, it could easily have been either, and since I had no point of reference... y'know... i think i can be forgiven for that, right?
Nice. Just recently found your channel and I'm really diggin it. What is your favorite kind of genre? I want to recommend something that you will more than likely enjoy. Keep it up man!
To be fair, I don't really have a preferred genre as such, obviously I listen mostly to metal but my vast music collection consists of everything from opera and classical to hip-hop and rap to every kind of metal.
First time watching one of your videos, and I enjoyed your commentary. As a big Alexisonfire fan, I would be interested in you doing another reaction to one of their songs, as I feel that there are better songs than this to really get a feel of what the band is like.
@@MetalHeadReacts I would suggest something from their later albums (as I feel that the overall song composition is much better than their earlier albums). A few personal favourites are: Crisis, Midnight Regulations, Happiness by the Kilowatt, Dogs Blood, This Could be Anywhere in the World, Young Cardinals, and The Northern.
@@joshrob139 That's funny, I've always enjoyed their debut most, but maybe that's a guilty pleasure. Later stuff is more structured and formulaic, but probably better ya.
@@MetalHeadReacts cool, thanks dude, i found that sound off SXM liquid metal, looked for reactions, not many of them, not any who discuss the song, really. i mean they talk about it, but don't really discuss it,y'know? sidenote: opinions on this opinion: the vocals/cleans, sound almost...what, garge band-y? or no, they lack the studio...echo? lack of echo? full-ness? the cleans sound like a recording of an acoustic session. that's the best analogy i can come up with.
The guy singing is Dallas Green who has a second band called City and Colour and sings the most sweetest depressing folk music
These guys are gods, they basically groomed the scene.
This 👆🏼
It's Canada, we also have the best-selling reggae song by a white dude from Toronto lol

Wholeheartedly agreed. I would personally also add Pulmonary Archery, Accidents, and .44 caliber love letter to the list as well

Alexis On Fire*
Absolutely legends
Not sure if metalhead, psychologist or both, excellent commentary
All the best my dude, hope you're still hanging in there
I personally think this song is about the endless struggle of borderline personality.

but the change is appreciated, they evolve as musicians and they are incredible.
@@paulwhidden1096 Yeah, it's fine. I can't get into anything past Crisis unfortunately. Luckily I found La Dispute and haven't looked back.
I remember when the video for this song debuted on Much Music back in 2004.
Highly reccomend listening to This Could Be Anywhere in the World. Or Boiled Frogs. Both stellar tracks.
