    Slate Digital and Waves are two plugin companies with fantastic and unique offerings; Slate Digital takes the vintage emulation approach to a whole new level with their Virtual Mix Rack, whilst Waves would say they have a plugin for every occasion.
    Here I take you through an entire mix from start to finish using Slate Digital plugins, whilst Lee Batiuk takes you through his approach using Waves plugins.
    I was so surprised by just how similar these mixes sounded. Lee is a fantastic mix engineer and has several chart credits to his name and recored this track superbly. It just goes to show how important the recording and arrangement part of the prcoess is. With the the right tools you get take a fantastic recording to the next level with a great mix, but which do you prefer and why?

      @@SamLoose I love Plugin Alliance. I like Waves too. But Plugin Alliance is my go-to. So happy they FINALLY got the bug fixed. For a while, it was crashing Logic if you used their plugins with Ventura as your OS.

  • @rome8180
    @rome8180 10 месяцев назад +1

    Loved this. I'm more of a Waves guy than a Slate guy. But I'm also a Logic guy. So between the two of you, I got something close to my own approach.
    One thing I realized after listening to this. I'm not adding nearly enough space to my drums. Your drums sounded like they were in an enormous space. I know it depends on the genre of music, but I think your approach would work for the stuff I'm doing.

    • @SamLoose
      @SamLoose  10 месяцев назад +1

      Great to hear. Totally depends on the track, but I think this one definitely needed some space around them 👌

    @ 1:52:40 i'm pretty sure the CLA-76 was the one introducing the noise because you had the analog button on 😥😥 hahaha anyways amazing video, its great to see the difference between styles of mixing and how you can shape the sound using different plugins.. thank you so much for this video!

    I definaly Prefer Slate........Slate Virtual mix rack....best Digital Plugins...hands down......I use Acustica Audio and Nebula with my own Analog Gear...but on the go mixes.....Slate Digital...on my Labtop...still my goto

    Personally, I think Bomber was too much for the mix. I much prefer it without it. Or at least, I would probably use it on with Intensity at 25% or, perhaps, a different algorithm (tight?)

    why is Lee jokingly disowning his use of Fab Pro-Q2? also, what song is this, the singer kills it

    • @SamLoose
      @SamLoose  2 месяца назад

      I don’t think it matters that it’s not the same 4 bars. It’s the same song, same chorus, just the next section. It’s just a comparison to demonstrate the differences. If it were the same 4 bars it would have sounded a little abrupt to loop back round and instead of a comment asking why it’s not the same 4 bars, I’d have comments asking me why it was 🙂

      @gleebaz are we talking about the same part here? The comparisons at 2:20 that are consecutive parts of the same chorus?
