If your Volvo is 2008 or newer, like my XC70, you do not have to separate the mirror from the glue! This video was very helpful and I was all prepared with my blow dryer to remove the mirror when I noticed both sides were completely loose! No glue? The boards on these newer mirror are NOT glued. Two guide pins and side clips are all that hold this in place. Just pull the clips back and gently pull the boards (two parts) out! That simple! You may also have the simple triangle clip that holds the entire mirror unit in place. If so, removing the mirror only requires removing the plastic cover (two sides clipped together) then twisting the mirror gently to remove it from the windshield clip. Reinstalling requires patiently lining the mirror clips up at a 45 degree angle then pushing up and twisting back in (this will make sense if you do it). Sorry I dont have a video, but I do want to save anyone time who has these newer mirrors. Also, the used mirror I purchased on eBay said it did NOT have the direction LED or rain sensor. It did. Hooked everything up and the direction LED lit up! This was a VERY easy repair on the 2008 XC70 and I imaging for the S80, S40 and perhaps others. Hope this helps!

Wow, great job. I'm not sure I want to tackle this - I may try it if I have time to be patient!

Volvo keeps the car immobiliser electronics inside the mirror housing. So tampering with it could render your Volvo inoperable. This is not just another traditional mirror unit. Look at the thick bunch of wires running into this module..
I replaced my mirror unit without disconnecting the housing from the roof, keeping the entire wiring harness intact, except for the two wires soldered to the mirror glass unit.

The only cautious part of this job is removing the original PCB from the broken mirror glass which I couldn't imagine would be any safer when it was still attatched to the wiring harness?

More talking, less loud background music (which is totally unnecessary anyway!).

The background music is so loud that we can't hear what you say clearly & 100% unnecessary as it doesn't add anything to the video

This video is worthless with the music playing over his instructions. After a few mins. I shut it off and looked for another video.
