I love Lisa! She comes across as smart and very knowledgeable. I trust her.
I look for all the video clips with Lisa! She knows her stuff and I feel aligned with her way of thinking. Thus there is a lot of trust! Thanks, Lisa!
Love your reviews. They help me with picking the right items for my everyday cooking! 🧑🍳
I bought a bog-standard stainless steel spatula, but it had a square cut edge. So I just filed it down along the front edge to make it sharper but slightly rounded. Works really well.
Thanks, Lisa! Love to hear your reviews!
when I first saw the Spatula equipment test of the Oxo Cookie Spatula I purchased 2 of them and love them very much. from scrambling eggs to mixing banana bread. glad I have them and thank you American Test Kitchen and Thank You Adam.
yay welcome back lisa!
i'm in the process of moving to my first ever place and ATK's reviews and best picks have been my go-to for stocking my kitchen. so thank you and keep 'em coming!
Keep in mind that most of the stuff you'll need in terms of cookware can be picked up at a thrift store. Then you can focus on filing out the collection or replacing items with something that's much nicer and likely to remain in good shape into the future.
A fish spatula is great and I have the OXO silicone spatula, but my go-to tool, however, is the medium (4") Dexter-Russel turner. The flat edges and flexible blade are perfect for releasing food, scraping pans, or cutting and serving portions. I use it for everything, except when moving large portions or flipping foods like large omelets or Korean vegetable pancakes (keeps everything intact). For those, I use the larger size (5"). After over 10 years, both Dexter spatulas are still in excellent shape, including the walnut handles.
is there a link for the Dexter-Russell turner? I like that one but missing the Amazon link.
I have both the Wusthof and Matfer Bourgeat spatula and love both of them. Not sure if I should invest in the cookie spatula though.
The wining spatula sells for $65 on Amazon!!!
Go for the Mercer Culinary Hell's Handle or the Victorinox. Same thing but cheaper.
The day I spend that kind of money on a f*cking spatula is when my family knows it's time to have the Captain committed.
The sponges she recommends are F
which ones?
My grandmother collected gizmos and gadgets a plenty! But how did I just learn about the fish spatula this year? Best tool I've had EVER!
I don't want a lot of gadgets, just a couple good ones. That French fish spatula is great! Considering the silicon fish spatula as a new and additional pick up...thanks ATK!
Love her videos
Lisa, watching your review for spatulas. I really do need a good one for burgers etc.
I wanted to know more about the Dexter Russell Turner but there was no connection to it in the description! Because I've been looking for a Stainless Steel Long Turner with a thin blade no slots and about 3 inches wide.
I found one with ALL the qualities of the winner made by MIU for a lot cheaper and I love it. Had it about a year now and use it almost daily still perfect
Can we reused jars and lids fro jams we buy at the store for canning?
Would love to see a budget buy for the metal spatula! When I'm looking to get something new for the kitchen, ATK is the first place I check for recommendations and I usually go with whatever their recommendation is, but I just can't reasonably swing $65 for a spatula.
We bought 2 of the Matfer Bourgeat spatulas works great for everything other that barbecues ...
Lefty checking in, any chance you can include us in your testing? The first 2 are not lefty friendly at all, makes it harder to use them tbh...
"Hello, this is Sy Greenblum, president of Spatula City. I like the spatulas so much, I bought the company".
I love Dexter spatulas. We have almost every one they make, and they last forever. I use the one you showed for grilling burgers.
Spatula City! Weird Al would be so proud.
I have a metal & a silicone fish spatula. Those are the only two I use.
Huh, for general grilling spatula, by accident I found that a cheap 1.00 one I bought for a differant purpose became my favorite. Others I bought specifically for grilling sit by the wayside. I can only figure the reason is because of its cheapness. Its thin and flexible. Works like a charm. So maybe start with a cheap no name and move up first.
I'm seeing reruns of this in my sleep.
I need input on spatulas for mixing cake batter.
I too, have two of the Oxo cookie spatulas, and I prefer them to my ten plus different kinds of spatulas. ;0)
I already own the OXO silicone flexible turner in two sizes and wouldn't part with them. Whether cooking in my regular cookware or non-stick, I always reach for them first. Looks like I need to add their cookie spatula too. Thanks, Lisa!
ATK
Hi.. binge watching..
Salutations 😋
Need suggestions for left handed spatulas. 😊
Hello ladies looking forward to the next video
So good ❤🤝❤
I’ve been using the MIU fish spachula (same style as the wustoff) but much cheaper. I’m 100% satisfied. (From another one of their spatchula videos
That's the one I bought, from their video 7 months ago. The 'best buy'.
I also purchased the MIU based on the strength of a previous ATK review. However,
I am now considering the silicon fish spatula (Matfer) specifically for non stick usage.
@@fessendenful I also have the Matfer one. I say yes, get it. I find spatulas are one of the tools to have more than one of.
Is there a link for the Dexter Russell turner with the white handle?
This might be it - Sani-Safe S286-8PCP 8"x 3" White Solid Turner, listed at 26.84. It does list Dexter Russell as the brand.
I have the walnut handled versions. They're also available in rosewood handles. RUclips has been scrubbing posted links, but if you search for Dexter Russell turner," you'll find a list of these. The medium 4" size is most versatile and listed as $21.00. (I also have the 5" for larger jobs.) If you get these, just oil them periodically and don't let them soak in water. They've lasted me over 10 years so far and still look great.
can you recommend a left handed fish spatula?
You guys at ATK have done this before. Maybe do silverware or drinking glasses, how about anything you haven't done before
Disagree! I will never tire of hearing about exceptional spatulas. Never!
OMG Lisa is the one who did the turkey baster tiktok.. (it is wrong to baste a turkey, it prevents crispy skin) ... changed my family's lives forever.
I am left handed. I hate spatulas that have the angled front edge. This is because the angle edge is at the wrong angle for left handed people. Do you know where I can get a left handed version like you showed in the video?
Thank you for the information you provided in your post. I do not expect them to test every single version of something but saying this company has a left handed version would be nice.
I tend to use my Dexter-Russell more than any other spatula and it's a straight edge all around. Fish spatulas are great, but the Dexter-Russell is a universal workhorse.
$65 for a spatula. We're not all millionaires!
Welcome to ATK, where the most expensive item is almost always "the best".
That is an obcene price for a spatula.
@@Annette-tq2rl I'll keep using the ones I got at the dollar store. Amazing that I can somehow get a $1 spatula to do everything I need a spatula to do. Mind-blowing for sure! 🙄
@@CaptainFabulous84 they recommend victorinox fibrox knives which are not crazy expensive.
The Best Buy option was MIU France turner which is half the price
SPATULA CITY!
SPATULA CITY!
have Lisa test Tajines.
Sorry, $65 for a spatula?
Wooden Spatulas has entered the chat: ...
I will feel more comfortable with the first one you picked up. The to your right or to my left. Besides comfort, it is sexy too.
Lisa, I much prefer your presentations by yourself. You don’t need a sidekick.
Well that was non committal 😁
Good products but let's be clear: You have "jumped the shark" to catering only to those who can spend big money supporting PBS - and only buy the products (The NON-"good-value" products) you beddle, to show off how "grounded" they still are (And of course, hardly know where their kitchen is) - while you left behind those of us who contribute what little we have every year to...PUBLIC broadcasting. 65 dollars for a spatula....65....65. Really?!? Have you been to Amazon? Is that $65 Wushtof twice a good as the $22 Victorinox? Or the TWO "Chinese made" I bought for $16...for BOTH...FOUR years ago, when you last reviewed the Wushtof, that were of exactly the same dimensions, weight and built of the Wushtof, and which, by the way, I still have...and use?
I understand the value of quality. And I understand the functionality and purpose of quality products. My question is, do you understand who your audience is...or at least, has become the last few years? Maybe not related to my rant, but it seems that PBS has joined the "dumbing-down" of viewers, becoming another exposition of unreachable expectations. Seeing the deterioration of Nova, and other "educational" programing, to breathless sensationalism, I suppose it is inevitable that the DIY shows would devolve to treating us as drooling idiots, only be able to pine for "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous". If so, I suggest you all acquire a British posh accent and name yourselves something like, "Robin Leach".
Well, at least, we still have Frontline left...
Last time I saw spatulas brought up, I bought their 'Best Buy' MIU France Large Stainless Steel Slotted Turner, 3 by 11-Inch . This was June, 2021 the final cost was under $14. That same item is now $30. Definitely no need for the Wushtof. I agree with you. It's wrong not to list options.
two spatulas dont make a speculum
The fact that Americas test kitchen keeps re-uploading old videos pretending they are new content is annoying and dishonest. The last several weeks nearly every video is a re-upload of older videos, pretending to be new content. I'm unsubscribing. I don't want to have my subscription page full of old uploads so a channel can monetize content multiple times.
