How much was your total $ order for the $92 for ‘reshipping’ ?
The items were a total of 30,766 yen or 207.56USD if converted today. I think it was a little less USD when I ordered them.
You maybe thinking wow the cost of shipping was almost 50% of the value of the items. Indeed it is, however consider the following. If I were to use a reputable ebay seller like Ninja-Tools the cost of the Makita Pen Impact would be 120USD instead of the 70USD I paid and also got a free BOSCH bit set thrown in. The GranGear green and tan ANEX screwders cost me 16 dollars for both, but would cost me about 50USD on ebay.
@@bzeugRight on…thanks for the info
I think it’s fascinating how even to this day Japan’s industrial machine makes extremely high quality products for their own people, but ship out stuff that’s more so “slapped together” but still high quality to the rest of the world. It could appear to be the same tool but underneath the tolerances are tighter, the wiring is thicker gauge, bigger electronics, stronger bearings, better batteries, etc. etc.
Just like the Japanese cars that are made for the JDM are very good compared to those Japanese cars that are manufactured here. When you go to Japan, it is pretty amazing to ride in them.
They think it makes them competitive with China when they should be trying to fit into the huge market gap between old style Channellock-like USA tools and expensive German tools. If they just turned up the price a little and sold JDM to everyone they'd probably push everything below like Klein or so into it's grave and everyone would be using either Tsunoda/Fujiya/etc or Snap-On, stuff like Milwaukee would probably drop out of the hand-tools market and stick to their FUEL line. 100% they should reveal the "secret" and go full pro-sumer, "normal" consumers are over when the boomers are, there will be no more giant clouds of idiot-sumers and they should get ready for it cause boomers are like 70 now.
I’d rather pay a little bit more and save a little time on eBay.. 😅
It seems like when I try to use ebay I end up picking a seller who in slow, and uncommunicative and I end up wondering if I am going to get my stuff at all. I have not tried NinjaTools though, and it looks like ChrisCas had good results with them.
Darn it, I want one in black now. I literally just today bought a bog standard DF13DSE for $54 USD.
Review on it, perhaps?
Cheers!
I have all those Gran Gear/Anex screwdrivers! Posted about them on Garage Journal a while back. They're the standard insulated Anex screwdrivers co-branded with GranGear, a Japanese tool distributor. Can't wait for the review!
Very nice . I hate getting that doesn’t ship to the US . Mitegive it a try on my next order .
I like stationary. I’ve already got a couple things from your videos and enjoy using them.
I'm personally happy to see Japanese stationery just as much as the tools! Thanks for sharing, as always. 👀
I appreciate that feedback.
92USD seems a bit steep. I've used forwarding services before (from Japan, US and UK) and I've found them to be rather cost ineffective to Australia unfortunately. I gave up on them. It can be good initially, but over the long run they put their fees and charges up and it gets worse. AUD exchange rate is in the toilet so that doesn't help either. Great haul though.
I was excited for a minute with the purple stuff at 2:53. They looked very similar to Pilot Plumix fountain pens.
I’m sad to hear that some of your uncultured viewers don’t appreciate Japanese stationery. I am happy to see tools and stationery and pens and so on.
I’m planning to visit Kunokuniya in Chicago in a week, am ordering from JetPens right now, and I have a collection of Vessel drivers in my shoulder bag.
Can we buy from Mercari using blackship ?
Glad to see a good alternative to Amazon Japan shipping. Between the 500¥ per item charge and restricting so many items I haven’t bought anything from them this year. I noticed Amazon UK has also started blocking items for international shipping as well.
Still don't understand why Bzeug doesn't have an Anex No:397 72t ball grip ratcheting screwdriver or the previous 60T red one. They are uber nice with very low backdrag especially the 60T mechanism. But it looks like some good content to come more screwdrivers in various colours. The little Vessel TD-42?? micro drivers I hope it's the set for mobile phones with the Pentalobe and Y-driver etc. Looking forward to what is to come.
Technically I don't have that one. However, I do have the TAMIYA rebrand of it. It is in my TAMIYA tool haul video. In the video I had mistakenly labeled it as 60tooth, but it is the 72tooth ANEX 397 just rebranded for TAMIYA. I also have the blade holder version of the Anex 397. Maybe I'll put those up on Instagram.
I will give them a try. Thank you for sharing this. I remember the first time I received a package from Japan. The packaging was incredible. They must have spent hours on it. I was very impressed and I've been ordering items from Japan ever since. Looking forward to you upcoming reviews on these items.
If you don't use the consolidation service you can reduce the cost significantly. So if Amazon Japan ships your order to blackship in just one box, then you can avoid the consolidation fees. FYI I forgot to point that out in the video.
@@bzeugSo whats the point of the consolidation service then? If it just makes it more expensive.
@@LabiaLicker If you have a lot of items, I think you will pay more if they are individually forwarded vs. consolidated. Some items shipped locally within Japan ship in cheap recycled cardboard envelopes. Sometime those get beat up when shipped internationally. Also Blackship will carefully package anything that maybe wasn’t so well packaged.
Great stuff
Can you edit your invoice value with blackship
Yes, I had made a mistake on one item and I went back and edited to the correct value. So you can indeed go back and make edits up until you have them ship it to you.
I live in Taiwan, and I used package forwarder to buy Spyder bits from US. You know what. Lowe's won't ship to the forwarder. Obviously, they know these addresses and will cancel the orders. Very strange.
Interesting. Has this changed in recent years? I wonder if it is a reaction to daigou.

@@bzeug Probably, but come on, this is about hardware, not baby milk or some other food products.
The Vessel 900ALWC Bit Holder is a tool i hope you review soon, curious how it compares to the Wiha.
Also the Worx WX242 electric screwdriver kit might be up your alley.
I saw MyReview posted that VESSEL 900ALWC on Instagram. It looks nice. I seem to only be able to find it on Aliexpress right now. I don't like using Aliexpress unless I have to. I have my eye out for it though.
@@bzeug curious what you has caused you to not prefer Aliexpress?
did you need to pay import fees?
I didn't have anything specifically called an "import fee" that needed to be paid. I just made my customs declarations and paid Amazon Japan what they wanted and then paid Blackship what they wanted. I don't know if Blackship or Amazon or both have an import fee built into the pricing or not.
You only pay import duties in the US if you bring in more than $800 in a single day. It is the “de minimis value” set by congress. There are a few exceptions like custom suits from southeast Asia but for most stuff it is $800.
@@9BluGood info for the masses. You can get a ton of stuff under $800.
@@htr5372 No. US states are forbidden from charging import duties by the constitution, that is a right reserved by the federal government. They can charge their normal sales tax only.
Much better than the tool truck I ordered from.
I ordered some limited edition knipex pliers and the truck sent them in a basic envelop and it showed up with the packaging crushed. If I was really wanting them to collect and not use it would have killed the value.
How does this compare to zenmarket or buyee? I have been happy with their services but dont like the money deposit system.
I think I know what you might be referring to. In Blackship process you have to choose a maximum cost that you are willing to pay. If, after they package and weigh the box, the cost goes over that max that you set, then you have to pay another small shipping fee when you have them do it over. I had that happen one time, it was annoying, but it really wasn't that expensive. So just set your max really high because it can save you an additional processing charge if they have to do the order over again.
Who did you get to ship this for you?
