These folks are the real deal people, we are privileged to hear them perform, they sweat authenticity. Each and every one a virtuoso, but so down to earth, it's patently obvious that they love what they do and wish to share their gift and happiness with us all. Are we not thhe fortunate ones?

What I love about Tuba Skinny is they keeo as close as they can to the old arrangements , I see it why fix something that was good enough the 1st time round . The band swings and I can imagine being back in the 1930's 40's 50's , when music was hot n so were the musicians
Come on, he is good and fits perfectly in the band, but don't lose reason. Or you don't know your Jazz.. try to find records with Jimmie Noone, Omer Simeon, Edmond and Herbie Hall, Barney Bigard (before the 50s), Albert Nicholas, Louis Cottrel, and I must have missed a lot ! Amongst the living ones, listen to Aurélie Tropez, Chloe Feoranzo, and the fabulous Evan Christopher !
What a treat to hear an extended performance like this. This presentation of the band makes it clear how much affection these musicians have for the music and for each other.
This music is so loving and happy, and it reminds me of happy times, makes me see these wonderful people as bringers of happiness. I wish I could bring them as much of all this as they genberously have given me. The way they manage coordination impresses me no end, it is a true work of advanced art.
What a joy to watch and listen to Tuba Skinny. This was a great setup for them with a very responsive and appreciative audience. And the band responded with real soul in their music. Heart warming. They are so talented yet so humble. Love their interaction with each other as well. So good to see a full set. Love these guys.
How wonderful to see the entire show, beginning to end. It gives us a chance to see the interaction between the band and the audience develop and grow, as well as a chance to hear the show build from tune to tune. As one who is accustomed to watching single song videos of TS out of context, I find this to be a delightful experience! I am very grateful!

I'm so thankful for this complete show. Tuba Skinny is gone mainstream! What a performance! At the 1:55 minute spot Greg and Erika lets out with a new song! It brought the house down!
Do you mean the song composed by Allen Bunn [aka Tarheel Slim] in 1960 - 'Forever I'll Be Yours'? You may be interested to learn it's not new to the band. For example, see the video: ruclips.net/video/_4Di74gSQfs/видео.html

Many thanks. Terrific musicianship throughout. My favourite moment is from 50 mins 47 secs to 51 mins 54 secs, where we witness collective improvisation and teamwork at its very best - an example to us all. They have such confidence in themselves and in each other.
It's good to see a band staying together I love 💕 the music Shaye thank for the memories of my sister she loved playing her trumpet I see you enjoy playing I'm not trying not to take anything away from your group you are one of a kind blessing to you'll
I hope that we will play together the next 9 years. But Tuba Skinny exists for 10 years only. You have written here, that they are in their 19th year. ;) Regards
High Bob, I owe you an apology, from a previous post of yours, where you rightly corrected me, and pointed me to a video in which Shaye was talking about playing instruments salvaged from Katrina floods. Thanks for that one. At the time, I was about to send a reply but suffered a computer crash, and lost the You Tube post in question. Nice to see the line up of musicians, it's annoying when people put up a good posting, but have no mention of who is playing. Keep up the good work.

This set is awesome. But the attention-seeking woman who keeps shrieking in the background right through the music nearly spoils it. Lady, we like the music too. We came to hear it, not you.
About "Sweet Olive", Robin's composition, does he play another instrument other than drums and washboard, so he could write this number or did he give the tune to Shaye using his voice so she could arrange it for the band? The individual members never cease to amaze me with their abilities.
@@jacobgregory4844 And don't forget he also wrote for the band those lovely tunes 'Thoughts' and 'The Levee Waltz'. For my attempt to list their repertoire, see: playing-traditional-jazz.blogspot.com/2013/01/tuba-skinny-repertoire.html

Am sorry that the sound balance and voice clarity is so bad. Banjo barely discernable. For this session, either one mike or everybody with a mike. Still, well worth listening to.
Shaye Cohn - cornet (leader) Todd Burdick - tuba Barnabus Jones - trombone Craig Flory - Clarinet Erica Lewis - vocals and bass drum Robin Rapuzzi - washboard Max Bien Kahn - guitar Greg Sherman - resonator guitar and vocals Also seen regularly: Jason Lawrence - six-string banjo Ewan Bleach - Sax

Thanks band for coming to Hillsdale in Sept of 2022. What a treat.
I've never heard a more creative clarinet player in my life

Fortunate enough to be at this show. It was transcendent.

Pops, any idea what the old members of the British “trad” bands of the fifties and sixties think about these marvellous youngsters ?
