Yeah the technology is a bit strange. It's a representation of how people in the 50's used to imagine what the future would look like. Back in the 50's everything was made durable and meant to last, so imagining a new different shape or model of something wasn't really on most people's imagination. So the year in the intro is 2077, but with the aesthetic of the 1950's level technology. I mean just look at Lost in Space and the "futuristic" robot.
Yeah Fallout is set in an alternate timeline where instead of researching electricity and inventing the transistor, humanity went all-in on nuclear power instead, so you have nuclear power sources that aren't even close to existing in real life. Combine that with the fact that the world of Fallout had been at war for over a century by the time the bombs dropped, and technology evolved very, very differently
@@pabloc8808 Except they DO have electricity. Nuclear power is for large scale shit like Vaults and WMD's. Everything else is still simple electricity and fossil fuels.
Remember the 1st Fallout was October 1997 so they had not even seen The Matrix so the "future" was different in 1997 or 2005. Just saying to keep that in mind.
@@EclecticPotpourri what does the Matrix have to do with anything?? Did you even read what I posted?? 1997 is STILL decades AFTER the 1950's. The "future" in fallout is based on what people in the 50's thought the future would look like. The Matrix is irrelevant. COMPLETELY; and so is 1997. Dude this is just a nothing comment.

People say they’d move immediately but if you were faced with something of that magnitude a large majority would freeze or take a few seconds to process what they were actually looking at.
The reality is, Cooper's daughter tragically would have been instantly blinded from the initial flash of that bomb. The initial flash from a nuclear detonation is hundreds of times brighter than the sun. If anyone happened to be looking in the direction of an atomic explosion, they'd find themselves stumbling around and depending on the proximity of the blast, within seconds, they'd be flash-cooked by the thermal heatwave released.
A small percentage of humanity had a weird reaction to the radioactivity, turning them into something called a, "Ghoul." Most ghouls are feral, and act like the Fallout version of fast zombies. There are some though that became like a...imagine a zombie that stills has its intelligence and personality. They live for a long, long time, are hard to kill, but whether they are dangerous or not is really more about the person who got turned into a ghoul. If they were a dangerous asshole before, then they're just worse now. If they were a good person, then they're probably fine to be around. However, eventually time takes its toll and their brain starts to deteriorate. Once that starts happening they slowly slide into becoming feral, although it often takes years and years for a ghoul to succumb to this and turn into a real monster. Almost all ghouls are people who were alive when the bombs dropped 219 years ago, although occasionally some people still get turned into ghouls, but its rare.
The absolute shade of "I told them you wouldn't hurt a fly" when they all live in a militaristic/religious society is epic...
So few shows are blessed with a “perfect” opening. I would rank Fallout with Breaking Bad.
Same especially the way they convey the stories plot twist leaving us wanting more! Is really really well done
The intro scene is 2077, but when Lucy starts narrating it's 217 years after the bombs fell, so it's actually 2294.
It's such a rare moment when this couple fail to be smart at reacting to the show they watch 😅.
Edit: also for ppl who can think, obviously since episode 1 they already know that the ghoul is the same person like the cowboy lasso guy in the intro. It's so similar. Even though the accent is a bit different.
Or at least it's just me who think the ghoul is the cowboy guy since episode 1😅

Hi so the needle with the dial that she injected herself with is called a stimpack, which in game is used to heal your body temporarily or a specific area of your body fully. The little inhaler the big guy uses is called Jet, which basically gives the person who uses it an adrenaline boost/damage reduction.
Jet is a speed boost. It manifests as time dlation in FO 4 and an aP bnus in the other games.

Id say fallout NV is better to start with especially after that "scene" during the finale episode. It might help them get more interested after they finish the show
@@matthewflores4183 FNV is perhaps the worst for a new player to start with. The best would be to start with Fallout 4, something more modern. FNV fans are incapable of seeing it but in a new player's eyes, that game is..... rough. Same with FO3.
Basically- this is set in an alternative universe, thats why we have 50s esthetic with futuristic tech.
One thihng to know about The Ghoul (at least at this point) was that he was being "kept normal" by that Ive pack that was going down into the ground.

The show is canon to the fallout universe and takes place 9 years after fallout 4 so this us a totally new story and for hardcore fans of the games they added alot of lore that connects to past games and how the history of certain locations and events have changed throughout the years its mostly implied and not out right told to you unless it's meant to be told to you. This is the best video game show ive seen to date even better than Tlou. The campy humor mixed with the brutality and dark theme of the games is done as close to perfect as you could get in this show! If you've been keeping up with the criticism for this show then you'd know that alot of other fans and non fans are extremely invested in this shows continuation! if you are gonna play any of the fallout games i recommend fallout new vegas
