Why PoE is Needed to Extend Ethernet for Non-PoE Device with PoE Extender?

The network is limited to 100 meters. The PoE extender is a handy device to extend the network beyond 100 meters. However, we can’t just add the PoE extender to repeat the non-POE network. The PoE injector and the PoE splitter are needed to work with the PoE extender even if you have a power source at the edge. The POE extender will take the power from the POE injector. The POE splitter can separate the data from the POE.

So, if i have poe router (main router) and I want to connect my PC via LAN at 200M distance, I need poe splitter right before the LAN cable connected to my PC right?

I have an FTP RJ45 cable with a distance of 100 meters, but the Internet did not work. I only have a fiber router and a 100M FTP RJ45 cable. What should I do to make the Internet work at a distance of 100 meters?

Basically you don't need to have any extra device to extend the network for 100 meters as long as the cable is good. The TCP/IP network can reach 100 meters over UTP cable, but it need to be cat5e, cat6 or higher grade cable. You might test the network with short patch cord, and examine the cables if the short patch cord works.

I have router/modem plugged to POE switch in office. Then from POE switch I go outside 250' to POE extender, then another 250' to POE extender, then 100' to another POE switch.
Then I plug 4 cameras and 3 Access points into that POE switch. It works for 1-2 days then signal drops. I have to unplug cable, plug it directly into IP camera, then unplug quickly and plug back into POE switch.then it will work for a 1-2 days and drop signal again. Any advice or help would be appreciated, thank you....FYI the POE extenders are the Fast Cabling brand, thank you....

Could you please send a email to [e-mail]? We need to know which model - PoE extenders you possessed. If it is one in one out version, you will need PoE splitter before second PoE switch. This is one. www.amazon.com/dp/B003CFATQK/. After you add this PoE splitter, the whole system will work stable. You are extending the data network, but not POE network. Your second PoE switch doesn’t need the PoE power right? In the standard PoE system, it has power handshaking, if the first PoE can’t verify the edge device (second PoE switch in your case) need power, the first PoE switch will not send power. Then both PoE extenders will not get the power. You mentioned it work after you plug the ip camera, then switch back to the switch. What you did just cheat the first switch, the edge device need PoE to get whole system up. After you add the poe splitter, you will have no problem, because the poe splitter will confirm the first poe switch and ask it to release the power. By the way, One pairs PoE extenders working together can achieve 1000 meters continuous run. You don’t need to place PoE extenders about each 250meters. You can place the PoE extenders both ends. With your setup, it should also work. You can have 600ft no stop cable running between the first switch and second switch.

The PoE extender is transparent to the network, as long as you have internet access, it should work with other apps. It never stop or the block the app.

It's designed to amplify the signal as PoE can only support a maximum transmission distance of 100M/328ft. The signal strength will deteriorate as the distance increases. Physically extending the cable length cannot get you anywhere further.
