  • In Ethernet networking, the maximum distance that can be covered by a single cable segment is typically limited to 100 meters (or 328 feet). This video explains how to extend an Ethernet network beyond the standard limit of 100 meters using Power over Ethernet (PoE) extender and injector.

I have a question regarding the PoE Injector! We have a PoE injector rating at 54 W at 0.5 A for a Gig connection. Would it be possible for us to use the PoE extender with our PoE Injector? Or is it to much power?

You can use it as long as it complies with IEEE802.3 standards (active PoE). The PoE extender is compatible with PoE, PoE+, and 4-pair PoE technology.

Hi there, my question is the only downside of this method as you mentioned is only supports speeds up to 100 MB? can we have 1GB or 10 GB on POE extender if yes, kindly make a tutorial video about it. thnx

Amazon does have 1gb POE extenders.

This Ethernet extender can only support a max. data rate of 100Mbps, but we have Gigabit PoE extenders for sale.

Your website says the Poe extender only does 100 mbps.

Yes, it only supports 100Mps, but we also have another PoE extender that supports Gigabit speeds. www.fastcabling.com/product/poe-extender/

Method 2 looks so strange to me. In Method 1 the PoE Extender is at most 100 meters from the router. In Method 2 the PoE Extender is 500 meters from each other! Also the PoE Injectors is sandwiched between the two PoE Extenders, I would think the PoE Injectors would be on the outside, but you're the experienced technician so I won't argue.

In the method 1, the PoE power goes through the PoE injector and it reach the middle of the PoE extender, and power it up. In the method 2, Yes, the PoE injector is sandwiched, so the PoE extenders at both ends is powered by the POE injector. There is no POE power in the 500 meters cable. The reason you need two PoE extenders to achieve 500 meters network is because the TCP/IP is two way commincation. You need to have long range network equipment at both ends, so they can talk to each other. 500 meters is so much long distance than standard TCP/IP (100 meters). You don't need two PoE extenders at method 1 because it is just 100 meters, and the router at the end of the cable can handle the distance, but it not the case in method 2. The advantage is you don't need to bury the PoE extender at the middle, and you have 500 meters clear run between point A and point B.
