Hey Dank!, that "Cigarette Punch" of one of the twins is called an "ooda loop interrupter" and basically it short circuits your target(or attacker's) decision making "loop", one of my favourites is to whisper "the wall outside my house isnae blue though", it kinda freezes people on the spot for that vital second, I have a mate who used to put a very old, very battered gumshield in his mouth if shit was about to kick off, it either scared people right to fuck off, or froze them(by the way, may I reccomend Geoff Thompson as a Mad Lad video(that's where my mate got the idea, his book "watch my back" is an incredible story, and the movie they made from it will show people how old school bouncers(who were not all just cunts despite people's stories!) worked. Geoff's story is an admirable journey from pure warrior, to Sensei and Teacher. Love the video's, keep it up(the Govnor, Lennie Mc Clean, would be another great story)

Great work, sir. This is probably the most accessible and damn near the most exhaustive video about the Krays (as seen in that one movie). I love them all.
The Kray movie from the 80s was how I first heard of them. As much as I like that movie, it only scratched the surface of their insane reign. It does have the cutlass scene in it though and that is awesome
I’ve just recently discovered your channel and your Mad Lads series and I love it man! You’re like a Scottish Paul Harvey that gives us the rest of the story on total badasses!
Alan Moore loved the Krays so much, he took all the fictional stand-ins for the Krays ( including Doug and Dinsdale Piranha, the Python version ) and , in CENTURY: 1969, he send them all into a turf war. Such fun.
My man's finally about to be at 1 million subs , definitely deserved. The amount of work and dedication has been crazy. I remember when we got a mad-lads every few months if lucky. Love yeah man , will always watch.
It was not that long ago I would read and watch everything I could about the Kray Twins. I had always been fascinated with the power structure of American gangsters and watched the old films before finding a 5 book series on a car boot sale about the twins. Sadly each book was different than the last about the same stories told over and over and I think only those who ran with them will ever know the truth. Your video even picked up some things I had not heard so thank you for making it.
I have it on damn good authority that he did amazingly well in legend. My Nan was a friend of the twins, and can’t stop raving about how well he captured Ronnie specifically, but that he was great as both.
Some other underrated Mad Lads from various points in history who don’t get spoken enough about, that would also make for phenomenal videos are: Jeffrey Bernard Ian Cognito Alan Conway Gabriele D'Annunzio Sir Francis Dashwood Mad Sam DeStefano Diogenes Bill Drummond John Elwes Bobby Fischer Keith Floyd Mad Frankie Fraser Pim Fortuyn Hetty Green Malcolm Hardee Alex ‘Hurricane’ Higgins Carlos Kaiser Khutulum Klaus Kinski Victor Lustig Yukio Mishima Monster Raving Loony Party John Mytton Emperor Norton Hiroo Onoda Juhayman al-Otaybi John Otway Sam Peckinpah Rollen Stewart aka Rainbow Man Peter Storey Rip Torn Wilhelm Voigt You’ll genuinely enjoy researching all of these Mad Lads haha!
Hey count dankula I just wanted to say I watch you’re videos on a weekly basis and they’re absolutely awesome. The level of detail and comedic relief you put into each one is just astounding. On that note though I would like to make a request for a future mad lad, or mad lads. The persons in question is John Joel Glanton and the glanton gang, a group of mercenaries and scalp hunters who traveled through Mexico between 1848 and 1850. They were hired by the Mexican states of Sonora and Chihuahua to hunt apaches that were terrorizing the local population and collect their scalps as “receipts” that could then be traded for 100 pesos a pop. This was unsurprisingly very lucrative until the Apache adapted their tactics into hit and run attacks to minimize casualties, resulting in the gang attacking peaceful natives because you can’t exactly tell the difference between a peaceful and aggressive scalp. Along with that they would also hunt and kill the Mexican locals they were hired to protect, including women and children and sell those scalps as well. Eventually the Mexican states grew wise to the brutal scam and the gang was forced to flee to Yuma crossing in modern day Arizona where they took control of a ferry from a man named Lincoln who may or may not have been a distant of cousin of president Abraham Lincoln. They either strong armed their way into unofficial ownership of the ferry after murdering and scalping the Yuma natives who operated it and intimidated Lincoln into surrendering or killed him and took over but either way they spent the next few months robbing and killing travelers to the crossing and stealing their money until a group of Quechan natives attacked the gang and killed them all, scalping glanton in revenge. Most of the historical basis for the story comes from a guy named Samuel chamberlain who wrote an autobiography titled my confession, recollections of a rogue about his time in the gang and as a veteran of the Mexican American war. His experiences were later adapted into the book Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy. The creepiest thing though is Glanton’s second in command, a 6 foot 6, nearly 300 pound albino man who was completely hairless named Judge Holden who was incredibly intelligent, an expert marksman, astute geologist and historian, fantastic linguist, extremely charismatic and also excessively cruel and depraved. It was noted by Chamberlain that wherever they went children either went missing or showed up dead and violated and Holden was known to be one of the only survivors of the Glanton massacre. His presence was noteworthy enough to warrant him become the main villain of McCarthy’s book. If you happen to read this thank you and please consider this story for you’re channel

I like the honesty of just wanting to get the video finished. It makes it more human
Dank you made 2022 better for me just being able to tune into your videos would always put a smile on my face.
Thats was excellent. I lived in East London, grew up there, and it certainly FELT a lot different as I recall. Just people doing things as people do. As a kid, none of it really affected me, felt strange reading about places I knew in the papers when they did something attrocious, but we never really were afftected.
Movie-length mad lads is the perfect holiday gift.
Weird that this is the first time Dank has covered crazy twins, so many throughout history
I've only ever heard of the Krays lol. Do spill... thank you.
Name two
You're a master of story telling. So good.
great video again, and well done for bringing Charlie Kray to the story, a lot of people have missed that
Only five minutes in and I was like "Holy shit, it's the Piranha brothers. They nailed my head to the floor!"
God bless you for doing this; the education, laughs combined into one is truly appreciated. Please if your willing provide more Celtic mythology videos.
Hey Dank!,
that "Cigarette Punch" of one of the twins is called an "ooda loop interrupter" and basically it short circuits your target(or attacker's) decision making "loop", one of my favourites is to whisper "the wall outside my house isnae blue though", it kinda freezes people on the spot for that vital second, I have a mate who used to put a very old, very battered gumshield in his mouth if shit was about to kick off, it either scared people right to fuck off, or froze them(by the way, may I reccomend Geoff Thompson as a Mad Lad video(that's where my mate got the idea, his book "watch my back" is an incredible story, and the movie they made from it will show people how old school bouncers(who were not all just cunts despite people's stories!) worked.
Geoff's story is an admirable journey from pure warrior, to Sensei and Teacher.
Love the video's, keep it up(the Govnor, Lennie Mc Clean, would be another great story)
He done McLean a few videos back
@@kennethgibson456 Nice one Kenneth!,
will have a gander at it now!
I love these. I want to let you know that your delivery is great. The story always flows and there’s no “um”s like ever. Great job as always :)
Thank you Daddy Dank for this long overdue one.
@Darth Pepe It'd be awesome to see him do a Mad Lad video about Sawney Bean, and all the rest of the cannibals in that Clan.
@@BasementPepperoni it’s your lucky day buddy: Dank did that in the early mad lad days
@@faves36 He did?? Crap, I honestly don't remember if I've seen it already or not. I just subbed to his channel a few months ago, and was doing a binge watch when I had the flu, so it's all a little foggy, lol
Thanks man!
@darthpepe2994 for real?
@@homelessman3483 no.
As an American Gen X-er, I had no frame of reference for the Kray Twins, other than I think a Monty Python sketch or two. Thank you for the clarity.
Prepare for trouble *make it double* had me fuckin WHEEZING
YES FINALLY! I WAS WAITING FOR WHEN WE'LL SEE THE KRAYS IN MAD LADS!! 😁
Confirmed bad beasts they both was
The pedo twins
Goin' for the longform Dankumentary I see. Lovin' it.
Alan Moore loved the Krays so much, he took all the fictional stand-ins for the Krays ( including Doug and Dinsdale Piranha, the Python version ) and , in CENTURY: 1969, he send them all into a turf war. Such fun.
This series of history profiles is tremendously engaging and informative. Thank you.
The Krays, so tough they could only fight with their friends and with weapons
My man's finally about to be at 1 million subs , definitely deserved. The amount of work and dedication has been crazy. I remember when we got a mad-lads every few months if lucky. Love yeah man , will always watch.

I'm so glad to have watched you grow dank you've been a blessing to me and got me through some dark times god bless you and madlads forever!
1 MILLION SUBS!!! I knew this day would come. Enjoy your plaque, brother. You deserve it! Much love from the U.S.
Tom Hardy as the Kray twins did a good job in Legend
Edit: thanks for the many likes see you all in 2023. Greetings from a Mexican Yankee 🇺🇸🇲🇽
He did an excellent job. If I had no knowledge of who Hardy was beforehand, I'd have thought there were really twins acting.
He was also amazing in Bronson
My only complaint is that Hardy sounds like Bane in almost every role he plays since Batman.
one of my favorite movies of all time
I have it on damn good authority that he did amazingly well in legend.
My Nan was a friend of the twins, and can’t stop raving about how well he captured Ronnie specifically, but that he was great as both.
Very admirable you taking the bullet keeping your dog from a sentence in Battersea.
Sooo close to a milli for the new year. Keep it pushing my lord of Dankness
The cigarette punch. Now that's what i call a sucker punch.

You can flush a liver down a toilet? Huh, good to know. In case I ever run across a disembodied liver I don't know what to do with.

It’s almost like they received government funding or something to subsidise their game to get it on as many phones as possible… 🤔

No idea why I am just now finding your channel but I have so much to watch now! Thanks for making these awesome videos.
Dang, you're in for a treat then, enjoy!
I shouldn’t have gotten upset when Dank pronounced “Los Pollos” as los pollos instead of poyos… but hey-ho here we are.

You could say that these lads are so mad that they're "kray kray" 😂
Nice hehe
"OMG! Who just robbed my store!"
"Oh? Thats Kray, Kray"
Growing up, I had two twin black cats called Ronnie and Reggie. They really had similar personalities to the Kray brothers. One was a boisterous, incredibly vocal and thuggish Tom while the other was a cynical and intelligent poser. Loved them to bits.
Didn't realise they were named after the two most prevalent East End gangsters until I was in my teens. As a young English man, I know loads of people with personal experiences with the Krays and they really did live up to their legacy going by the stories I've heard. Mental that they had so much power and became feared and revered everywhere.
Thank you Dank for this phenominal feature length video. You deserve a rest: your videos just keep getting better and better and I hope my next pet is a pug. Hope you had a fantastic Christmas and a brilliant New Year! ✨🎉🎆🎇
Tom Hardy and his brother Yom Tardy did a great in the movie Legend

Legend was one of the best films ever made in the new millennium, in my opinion. Tom Hardy is absolutely PERFECT in every facet, and the film is shot flawlessly.
I love the film more than yoy can imagine and watch it at LEAST twice a year.
My late Grandfather was a prison guard at Brixton and he was there the day that the Kray Twins were brought in.
Was he the one that beat them into a pulp?
@@jamegumb7298 No, my Grandfather was not a violent man. He in fact befriended many inmates in his time, one of which came to his funeral.
