This is the second time I've thought "huh, this game got showed up by Fortnite of all games." First it was the web-swinging from the Spider-Man DLC, and the second is just how the characters look and their alt costumes. Never thought the funny BR game would care more ab superheroes and their costumes than the literal superhero game.
I actually like the artificial suit looking scratched up because if the suit is basically his body for a while, it would make sense for the paint to be chipping off given how long it would be getting used for versus how long it was designed to be used for. I think they should have had two versions for beat up versus not (while preferably not making you buy it twice,) but I guess that was too much work for them.
The reason I really don't like the makeshift armor is the same reason I didn't like it in Iron Man 3. Tony Stark's entire shtick is how good he is at building things out of scrap. I was expecting back then to make himself an entire suit of armor out of spare parts. Yeah, obviously he didn't have the time he had while he was in the cave in the first movie, but he also was not a prisoner and had access to a ridiculous amount of material. And this isn't his origin story, we're not talking about the first time he's doing this. He's been building suits for years. He could have made himself an armor out of shovels if he wanted to. And in the game, same deal. He has no money but he's been, how many _years_ alone? Are you telling me that in all that time he couldn't and wouldn't have made himself an entire suit of armor to keep ready? Ridiculous. Jesus, when freaking _Batgirl_ can make herself a functioning suit out of spare parts in a few days and Iron Man can't you know you screwed up as a writer.
To be fair to the game, the devs clearly got most of their design influences from the mcu, so it makes sense they'd go for the shoddy shit "suit" inspired from Iron man 3 as opposed to going for the more open ended creativity and potential like "I made this suit out of a cat's footstep and dog barks" ridiculousness that comics embrace
Bleeding Edge is one of my favorite from the comics, but I read very few Iron Man. I think it's mean to look like skintight gold foil covering Iron Man's body, with metal plates arranged on top of it, with both layers being possible due to nanotechnology. Infinity War ended up being greatly faithful in concept, with a skintight armor, albeit with very much its own design.
They always show some nano tech version of his armor being his most advanced and best version. But if tony actually made a last armor with the best tech he could get, it would literally just be a normal suit of clothing that has all the functions of every iron man suit, along with other heroes and villains powers mashed in. Like pym particles and what not.
I’d argue it’s much easier to go from comic costumes to video game,it’s essentially the same thing the only issue would probably be the colors. What’s actually hard is comic to irl
DUDE THANK YOU, I've been looking all over for some looks in Iron Man Armour, just the way you talked about smaller stuff like the shoulders or heck even the superior iron man's little circle holsters! I hope to see more iron man suit talk coming from you dawg!
The reason there's both the prototype armor and the bigger one with the bulkier look, they needed one for the classical look of the comics. The mk 3, I totally agree a out the color being too bright. Reason the red is that bright is I think they are getting their detailed models to base off of from the hot toys toy line where all their iron men figures have a bright red. I too said the shoulders were small but I was told ot might be because of the hot box which means it would give iron man more of an area to target when getting hit compared to other models but thay suit just looks disproportional Ll around between his hands knuckle pad to the upper elbow cover.
i recently stumbled across this video and i love how you examine these costumes as precisely as possible along with brings a lot of connection and lore behind that particular skin. I highly recommend making these types of videos.
I found another honest RUclipsR and I'm happy for that. The last lil bit of the video and that 🎤 drop to finish solidified the how things are not just with video games but the consumer market in general and the companies running them. Peace, love and weed seeds.
I've been playing this for "free" thanks to Play Station's game catalogue, and honestly I can see why people hate on this game. I will say that I really like the costumes, especially Captain America's. I wouldn't pay extra money for skins though, not for this game at least. Don't pay extra for a game you don't want to support or can get their in game currency for free.
To be fair, it depends on the skin and game in question. Some suits may not "look" right depending on the game. I know in Batman Arkham City, some of the classic Robin skins look odd in Arkham City's artstyle. The best looking ones are those that did get slightly tweaked.
Easy, they didn't care if the game looked or was good, all they wanted is to make as much money they can with the Avengers, all around the game screams that, the game came out when the Avengers where the most popular thing, it was a multi-player game, so you and your friends could buy the game to play it, it has a movile game hud (that's basically lazy design), a real money shop (I find this lame, it's OK for free games but you have to pay for the game but if you want an especific skin instead to get it by a challenge you have to pay)
what makes game skins so exciting for me is how far they stray away from the game's usual settings, like my favorites to use in the ps4 spider man game are the weird comic cartoon ones because they commit to the unique looks and feels of each skin here with iron man (especially with the recolors), they're are all the same and you're not exactly getting a unique experience with playing in each skin
ironically enough the classic suit used to be my favorite but when you showed the suit next to the official art i started to hate it 💀 i feel like they try to cater to 2 completely different groups when adapting the zany early comic outfits and i feel like that only helps to create a divide between players. youll have oldheads getting huffy that the silly suits werent adapted well enough (i see this alot with the classic cap costume) and the other side likely doesnt care too much about the old stuff to begin with so theyll probably end up using one of the more modern-looking suits or one of the movie outfits and its not like the goofy early stuff cant be adapted 1:1 realistically either, alex ross made a career out of that kinda stuff and his work is usually loved by all.
I don't care what anyone says, Silver Centurion will ALWAYS be in the Good-Section! Also, can we all agree that the Mark III Armor is one of the BEST MCU designs they've ever made!
Your feelings on the boots of the Silver Centurion is how I feel about the grey colored boots of Spidey's Negative Zone suit. Like- wtf Crystal-D why would you do that? The suit is pure comic perfection and then you get to the stupid fuckin' boots.
Right now is the first time I've seen the Negative Zone costume. I hate how it has different tones, not just black and white. Same issue I have with the PS4 negative one.
@@wiggard I like it better than the PS4 version given it looks closer to the comics. BUT the PS4 version is like- more accurate in it's portrayal in the sense of how it functions... Like it's a black and white variant of Peter's suit so in that sense the PS4 version is better. But I prefer the design in the Avengers, I just hate that the boots are needlessly a goddamn different color than the gloves and other pieces like it's so random it makes no sense.
The main reason these suits all look like crap is because of the way they were modeled. With a suit of armor, you would want to model the individual pieces and animate them accordingly to show that there are many moving parts and thus give the illusion of a machine. But these were clearly modeled and textured as one mesh, so you get the stretching in places that are meant to be metal and have no business being attached to one another. The main draw to playing a superhero is the immersion and being them and this just completely takes you out of that immersion without you even realizing it. Shame on them for releasing a game that could have a should have been amazing. I don't understand how Marvel and Disney allow the ball to be dropped on something like this with the amount of money they have made from these IPs. I guess we really aren't ever going to get a good Avengers/Ironman game.
I know I'm tremendously late to the party but I'm revisiting stuff about this doomed game that I had so much hope for when it was first announced. You're so freaking spot on about how such a mechanized character needs a model and rig that has individual pieces that move in a logical and satisfying way. One nitpicky thing that drove me INSANE with Iron Man in this game, that even tragically affects the occasional good design (so like, basically just the MCU costumes), is the mesh. The way he twists his wrist when you're in the gear changing menu? HORRIFIC. The way the mesh for what's supposed to be hard metal plating is treated like tight cloth when he articulates his arm like that. And not just that but like it's glued to his skin. It's astoundingly bad looking. I haven't touched the game in years but that little thing has stuck in my memory vividly.
It would be so easy to make these comic accurate. You could say that they had to focus on multiple characters but that means to make it easier for your self you should just make it comic accurate. Take some liberities like insomniac does for spidey but still make it look good
My big problem is WHERE THE FUCK IS THE MODULAR ARMOR FROM THE LATE 80'S AND EARLY 90'S, is the armor that introduced the character in the cartoons and the capcom games that appeared from Marvel Super Heroes up to Marvel vs Capcom 2.
I wish the gold and silver on these costumes was a lot more reflective. Like the superior suit is supposed to be chrome silver and looks very dull as it is
I actually don’t mind that a lot of the suits don’t entirely resemble their comic book counterparts. It would be completely boring to just copy and paste it from the comics. Not saying they’re good, I’m just saying them being different isn’t what makes them bad.
I think the Mark 3's Red might've been based of some toys because there are a good chunk of toys that are painted a brighter red than the actual armor, even Hasbro with Marvel Legends made the Infinity Saga Mark 3's red too bright
I think the Mark 1 is kind of just like their interpretation of what Tony made in the cave. I really like the redesign, because maybe this Tony had access to better Tech in the cave?
You know, to me, a good chunk of the Iron Man armors just look like rehashes with minor changes. Which is confusing when the armors that some of them are supposed to be depictions of are so vastly different.
It was smart to address the counterclaims at the end, I always see people attempting to silence the criticism of products created by large corporate entities
Thanks for giving my armor a respectable 6.5/10 (No I didn't name myself after the armor nor do I work on the game, a fun coincidence happened and so yeah I bought it simple to say I own my own Iron Man armor) (I got "Iron Knight" from 2007's animated film The Invincible Iron Man)
Its kinda sad that the design team had a major course correction near the tail end of this game's lifespan. They've been hitting it out the park with comic book inspired skins like the Invincible Iron Man costume they just revealed. But its too late and most of all too expensive.
I honestly don’t mind if they reuse some parts to make a new suit because if they have to make so many designs in such a little amount of time obviously they might cut corners an bit and even if they take elements from different suits some of them still look petty cool
the millions that went into making this game, released at the peak of the Avengers popularity, means it shouldn't have needed to cut corners. if the people who made it even knew how to use their resources this wouldn't have been a video that needed to exist.
He definitely should’ve had the extremis armor. I’m pretty sure every person who knows about comic iron man knows about the extremis suit, and it’s one of the most iconic armors from the comic, it was in everything in the 2010’s that wasn’t themed after the mcu.
The oddest thing about the Illustrious armor (and any of the other skins using this element from it) is it has that strip across the abs like his comic book Model 9 Armor has, and the space armor from Operation: Galactic Storm has, but zero of Iron Man’s skins in this game with that design element are colored to look like those two comic book armors they’re pulling a design element from. And they’ve got to be pulling that element from those armors because those two armors are the only Iron Man armors that have that design element. The skin where Stark doesn’t have armor on would seem to be a play on that scene from Iron Man 3 were he’s only got like a glove and boot and is doing John Woo Hong Kong movie shootout stuff.
To be fair, the only reason it has that stripe... is because ALOT of the realistic style iron man armors has had it since the model 24 design, and they're just being consistent with that design feature.
The white version of starboost actually also has a lego minifigure, so it’s popular to some extent so that most likely why it was used as a base Also the Solaris armor looks like the suit worn by that western iron man from lego marvel superhero’s 2, maybe that was what they used for reference?
In fairness of the starboost armor it does actually have narrative purpose in the story mode that could explain the discrepancies but it’s still upsetting how little work they put into most of these costumes
That ice armor at 13:56 looks like the arctic armor he wore in Ironman armored adventures the tv show but with worse colors If you see this watch that show it's fantastic
"Don't like it don't buy it" isn't a defense, especially when the person is a fan of the thing they're complaining about. Their criticism is the most important because the product has done something to put off a dedicated fan, which means it most likely doesn't accurately represent the things that made them like previous products of the same IP.
The Superior Iron Man suit is a big conceptual fail from the get go, being silver all over instead of white. The core concept of Superior's suit is that an Evil Tony Stark would embrace an Apple-like consumerist business model. If the suit doesn't evoke an Apple gadget, it just fails.
Honest a lot of the Ironman suits in the avengers games just look very wrong, the general design of his main suit in game is actually ok but the test look either to bulky or like hunks of junk and it’s beyond me they charge for some of these. It’s sad that the movie suits were practically the last resort to making actual nice looking Ironman suits, I really wish they’d done more because even Ironman armored adventures had cool designs. Some of the original designs are alright but I just wonder what they were thinking with some of these.
I just wanted to point out that MCU Iron Man' Mk 46 armor he used in Civil War was inspired by the Bleeding Edge armor and I personally think that looks many times better than this game's version. For starters the MCU suit does have some silver in it but since its so little and it's mostly mixed in with the gold, you don't really notice it unless you look closely. But this game decided it was a good idea to just put as many silver details as possible right on the torso. Like... LOL it's the bleeding edge armor not the "unfinished paint job" armor 😅.
I have watched this vid and also all the avengers custom videos a lot bc I'm really fan of the way you talk abt this different suits and stuff but I just noticed smth. In the 2010s idk how many people even remember but marvel had deal w like a Japanese anime company to make a few series backed on marvel characters. Like blade and wolverine. But the interesting thing is iron man got his own show too and the suit you mentioned in 22:30 of this video could be reference to that anime. Let me say why: in that anime in the mid season finally Tony needed to go the space to find a machine that zodiac ( the Cullen of the show) was using to disturb signals in the stark industry labs and also helping a deadly virus grew and infect people( bc the only who could make the cure were the people in stark industry) sooo ye he uses a white suit with added jet packs and 2 rockets to help him not freeze and fly fast enough so he can get out of the earth's atmosphere without dying. This suit is really similar to that one. Being white and gold, having big rectangle as the arc reactor and having extra jet packs on the back of the armour. Thanks for reading all this guys appreciate it ❤️🙏

This is the second time I've thought "huh, this game got showed up by Fortnite of all games."
First it was the web-swinging from the Spider-Man DLC, and the second is just how the characters look and their alt costumes.
Never thought the funny BR game would care more ab superheroes and their costumes than the literal superhero game.
That’s the one thing I’ll ALWAYS give Fortnite proper credit for, they go above and beyond with both their original and collaboration skins
They pay so much attention to detail with every marvel skin I grinded the marvel battlepass so hard those days for that reason
It was really funny thinking that square enix botched the Marvel skins while fortnite made a more faithful version
@@thenegromancer4695 yo same
Like fr, They gave Doctor Doom the God Emperor alt from Marvel vs Capcom
@@taxisalad that was the battle world doom in the comics if the armor was white and not gold it would be dope
I actually like the artificial suit looking scratched up because if the suit is basically his body for a while, it would make sense for the paint to be chipping off given how long it would be getting used for versus how long it was designed to be used for. I think they should have had two versions for beat up versus not (while preferably not making you buy it twice,) but I guess that was too much work for them.
good take
Agreed. The head shouldn't have looked likea Jolly Rancher tho.
except Iron Man didn't spray paint his armor.
That's one of the main reasons I like the Tony from the last Avengers show, he made a suit out of literal rock and wood
@@axolotlsworkbench6996 "Tony Stark built this in a CAVE. WITH A BOX OF CAVE."
@@kaiko6450 I appreciate this
@@SomeGuy-mt4hq 😎
In my opinion, i think the makeshift suit looks pretty good except for the helmet. if they took that off it would be one of my favorites
The ultimate iron man suit in the comics looks really cool! Shame I can't say the same for the game
i swear to god i have never felt such rage at alternate costumes in my entire life
Ten minutes into this video and the thing that draws my attention the most is that the lower leg sections all look the same.
Same with the forearm designs
The fact that there is 26 minutes worth of bad suits just says a lot about the designs 💀
DUDE THANK YOU, I've been looking all over for some looks in Iron Man Armour, just the way you talked about smaller stuff like the shoulders or heck even the superior iron man's little circle holsters! I hope to see more iron man suit talk coming from you dawg!
A *BRIEF* look at Iron Man's costumes in Marvel's Avengers:
Dorito God: makes a 30 minute video...
Lol if a youtuber doesn't agree with you they're lying?
I've been playing this for "free" thanks to Play Station's game catalogue, and honestly I can see why people hate on this game. I will say that I really like the costumes, especially Captain America's. I wouldn't pay extra money for skins though, not for this game at least. Don't pay extra for a game you don't want to support or can get their in game currency for free.
If you're going to make skins based off comics, why not make them as comic book accurate as possible? Show some love to the franchise
To be fair, it depends on the skin and game in question. Some suits may not "look" right depending on the game. I know in Batman Arkham City, some of the classic Robin skins look odd in Arkham City's artstyle. The best looking ones are those that did get slightly tweaked.
Here’s your answer, they didn’t care
Easy, they didn't care if the game looked or was good, all they wanted is to make as much money they can with the Avengers, all around the game screams that, the game came out when the Avengers where the most popular thing, it was a multi-player game, so you and your friends could buy the game to play it, it has a movile game hud (that's basically lazy design), a real money shop (I find this lame, it's OK for free games but you have to pay for the game but if you want an especific skin instead to get it by a challenge you have to pay)
The Superior Suit made me die of laughter "Looks like he's balding?"
what makes game skins so exciting for me is how far they stray away from the game's usual settings, like my favorites to use in the ps4 spider man game are the weird comic cartoon ones because they commit to the unique looks and feels of each skin
here with iron man (especially with the recolors), they're are all the same and you're not exactly getting a unique experience with playing in each skin
“just because it’s crappy on purpose, that doesn’t take away from the fact that… it’s crappy” 😂
Why not allow us the ability to modify colors while they sell us comic and movie accurate skins?
Why would that be so damned hard?
ironically enough the classic suit used to be my favorite but when you showed the suit next to the official art i started to hate it 💀 i feel like they try to cater to 2 completely different groups when adapting the zany early comic outfits and i feel like that only helps to create a divide between players. youll have oldheads getting huffy that the silly suits werent adapted well enough (i see this alot with the classic cap costume) and the other side likely doesnt care too much about the old stuff to begin with so theyll probably end up using one of the more modern-looking suits or one of the movie outfits
and its not like the goofy early stuff cant be adapted 1:1 realistically either, alex ross made a career out of that kinda stuff and his work is usually loved by all.
COMPARE THIS TO THE ALTERNATE SUITS FROM IRON MAN VR & YOU WILL NOTICE WHO MADE THEIR HOMEWORK
3:07 looks really sick, i had a figure that looked like this as a kid
Iron Man VR: *Allow me to introduce myself*
The makeshift suit reminded me of the escape scene in Miami in Iron man 3
I wish the gold and silver on these costumes was a lot more reflective.
To be fair, the darker shade of red in the mark 3 looked terrible tbh.
superior ron man had me in tears
I think the Mark 1 is kind of just like their interpretation of what Tony made in the cave. I really like the redesign, because maybe this Tony had access to better Tech in the cave?
You know, to me, a good chunk of the Iron Man armors just look like rehashes with minor changes. Which is confusing when the armors that some of them are supposed to be depictions of are so vastly different.
I know this is literally an iron man suit ranking but ain’t nobody gonna talk about boba fett casually stealing the millennium falcon??
Huh? lol
In the star wars battlefront gameplay@@kermitgotthesickkicks4265
The Federation suit could have been cool, if they made a unique character model to follow the comic design.
its funny how the iron man 2 game had a more accurate ultimate iron man suit then this one
It was smart to address the counterclaims at the end, I always see people attempting to silence the criticism of products created by large corporate entities
I honestly just think half of these suits are their own interpretation of the iron man armors.
The starboost armor always reminded me of the one space armor tony wore in that anime made by marvel and madhouse
I'm just hoping they get the red correct in the mk7 iron man and not off a hot toys model.
Thanks for giving my armor a respectable 6.5/10
(No I didn't name myself after the armor nor do I work on the game, a fun coincidence happened and so yeah I bought it simple to say I own my own Iron Man armor)
(I got "Iron Knight" from 2007's animated film The Invincible Iron Man)
Banging Movie
At least Iron Man is the character who it makes sense in universe for having all these skins.
Its kinda sad that the design team had a major course correction near the tail end of this game's lifespan. They've been hitting it out the park with comic book inspired skins like the Invincible Iron Man costume they just revealed. But its too late and most of all too expensive.
I thought the federation skins was a take on the imagination on what the heros would dress like if they were wrestlers.
Then why is scarlet witch dressed like a Vegas prostitute?

The white version of starboost actually also has a lego minifigure, so it’s popular to some extent so that most likely why it was used as a base
Also the Solaris armor looks like the suit worn by that western iron man from lego marvel superhero’s 2, maybe that was what they used for reference?
The "it just makes him look like he is balding" got me💀
24:29 thats just mandalorian armor, thats boba fett babey.
never thought id see iron man with a cape
I loved the silver and red ironman 2 costume. I used that one alot
I really wanna see you go over more characters
I’m watching this in 2023 and I have the civil war suit equipped!
And hulk too I love knowing what the costumes looked like in the comics even tho they don't look exact
In fairness of the starboost armor it does actually have narrative purpose in the story mode that could explain the discrepancies but it’s still upsetting how little work they put into most of these costumes

If you see this watch that show it's fantastic
"Don't like it don't buy it" isn't a defense, especially when the person is a fan of the thing they're complaining about. Their criticism is the most important because the product has done something to put off a dedicated fan, which means it most likely doesn't accurately represent the things that made them like previous products of the same IP.
The Superior Iron Man suit is a big conceptual fail from the get go, being silver all over instead of white. The core concept of Superior's suit is that an Evil Tony Stark would embrace an Apple-like consumerist business model. If the suit doesn't evoke an Apple gadget, it just fails.

Oh boy
Honest a lot of the Ironman suits in the avengers games just look very wrong, the general design of his main suit in game is actually ok but the test look either to bulky or like hunks of junk and it’s beyond me they charge for some of these. It’s sad that the movie suits were practically the last resort to making actual nice looking Ironman suits, I really wish they’d done more because even Ironman armored adventures had cool designs. Some of the original designs are alright but I just wonder what they were thinking with some of these.
I like that pronethiam suit or whatever it was called
I just wanted to point out that MCU Iron Man' Mk 46 armor he used in Civil War was inspired by the Bleeding Edge armor and I personally think that looks many times better than this game's version. For starters the MCU suit does have some silver in it but since its so little and it's mostly mixed in with the gold, you don't really notice it unless you look closely. But this game decided it was a good idea to just put as many silver details as possible right on the torso. Like... LOL it's the bleeding edge armor not the "unfinished paint job" armor 😅.
When even mobile games put more effort than AAA
Thanks for reading all this guys appreciate it ❤️🙏
I just want a good Iron Man game. It's sad there isn't one. They could make it similar to Armored Core.
