I was expecting Nioh 2 to be a prequel as promoted. I was happy as hell to see that it was actually a prequel, sidequel, and a sequel. lmao.
Yea i really love this game, love my fem character, how Mumyo became one of your closest friends, and that we're actually yokai.
When William showed up I thought the game was setting foot into nioh 1 territory then they mentioned the foreign women that William is after and I'm like "wait..... is this gonna be the conclusion of nioh 1 DLC 3?"

To those who are confused by Otakemaru's soul saying "How I long to meet Suzuka again...", it ties into his real-life folklore. Otakemaru was in love with a goddess named Suzuka Gozen, who he repeatedly visited in the form of a handsome young man in order to win her love, only to be turned down time after time. Meanwhile, a shogun named Sakanoue Tamuramaro, who had been trying to find and kill Otakemaru for years, received a vision telling him to visit Suzuka, who in turn hatched a plan with him that ended with Otakemaru being defeated and beheaded by Tamuramaro. However, Otakemaru was immortal as long as he possessed any of his three holy swords, and Suzuka was unable to trick him into relinquishing all of them for her. After reviving and being defeated once more, Otakemaru was instead sealed away alongside Shuten Doji and Tamamo-no-Mae within the Byodo-In temple, only to escape many years later when the turbulent war across Japan weakened his seal.
Note that Suzuka is referred to as a "former female bandit" in the weapon description for the Sohaya Tsurugi sword in-game, so I don't know if the Nioh 2 writers have changed the tale somewhat.

Oda nobunaga being revived via magic rocks, hatori hanzo SR. turning into a toad aratama. Yokai everywhere. Mumyo nit aging a day in 60 years probably because of sohayamarus guard. Time traveling shiftling who meet yoshitsune,benkei and the ansestor of masamune date. Yea i think they stayed pretty faithful lmao.

So, what do we have:
- Nioh 2 and Nioh 1 covers both timelines before and after William's arrival in Japan (including all 3 DLC)
- Maria is finally caught, which means 100% end of the story
- William and Okatsu got a kid
- Hideyoshi followed the same way, as Nobunaga once did - departed to the afterlife
- Future of our main character will stay uncovered
Phenomenal ending. Our old boy William getting a true happily ever after would have been enough for me, but they went above and beyond the story of the first game (which was one of its weakness) imo

@@virgincrusader2214 yeah in the ending you can see a kid with Williams' blonde hair and blue eyes, and Okatsu's Guardian Spirit, Gyokuto. That's William and Okatsu's kid.
The ending make it looks like William got a kid with Hatori Hanzo.

She had the cross guard of the Sohayamaru. Any fragment of that sword can grant eternal life, and perhaps the effect bled off on her even tho she gave the protagonist the guard earlier.

@@hanzohassaszi1410 no its clearly implied okatsu is his sons mother. You even see it in nioh1 they have a shared moment when he saves then says he stinks. Okatsu it seems died after giving birth to williams son.

Me too. Along with that one side mission that had you go looking for Lady Chacha, Oichi's, and Nagamasa's daughter... i thought I was gonna have to refight nine-tailed fox, but this time without Yukimura on my side.
This game has boss harder than that bitch. Chinese's Dopplegager's boss is one that boss.
The credit song is so rewarding, It makes me feel i can enjoy my achievement from such a long arduous adventure.

Four months later, and still no nerf. Even using it in NG+, it just shreds off a quarter of ever bosses health.
This is the closest I'll get to beating this game.

Otakemaru shits all over Orochi and Hundred eyes from the first game in terms of quality and probably even Tamamo no Mae from Bloodsheds end. Can't wait to see what the DLC will bring, if this is any indication.

He absolutely shits all over nine tails as well. No boss from nioh even remotely holds a candle to him. I would say that even some other more standard bosses like kasha, azai nagasama, magara, shuten doji are all way better than anything from nioh 1

Watching again, just like Nioh 1, Nioh 2 probably teases what it’s DLC will be. In Nioh 1 it was a fleeting image of Hanzo in trouble as William looks to return to Japan. In Nioh 2, the DLC will probably relate to previous incarnations dealing with Otakemaru.
I think it's more like prequels, because Nioh 2's engding did tied the knots of the story.

There is a chance, but small one, that Nioh is a prequel series to Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive or at least takes place in the past of the DoA world. If this is true then we now know the Origins of the Dark Dragon Blade.

@@barghest8763 The seven branched Blade is a historically significant weapon throughout Japanese history. It appears in most Samurai media and is believed that the weapon Susanoo used to cleave the heads of the Yamato-no-Orochi was in fact a 7 Branched Blade.

Also the fact that they already announced 3 Story DLC before the game's released, very much similar to the first game's 3 Story DLC as well.

1 and have been stuck in other games. I have been so busy with those that I dropped the ball on the release of this title. I see now what I am missing. Ok the ending feels emotional, but the fight it seems like if it were just another boss...I remember in Nioh 1 we had to fight with previous monsters, then oda, then the bald wizard and then yamata no orochi...o and after that, the one thousand eyes. aaand after that...dlcs, and everythig the real ending with Lady chacha ( one of my favorites alongside with Yukimura, what a characters! )

Just finished Nioh 2 and I feel you. The ending of Nioh 1 felt more spectacular with all the bosses you had to fight back to back. Even the levels itself during the endgame were insane.
You guys are fuckin nuts, this boss shits over all the nioh 1 bases combined and nioh 2 as a whole absolutely shits on nioh 1 which was pretty mediocre in a lot of ways
look at the background during the battle, it's like they're going to the arenas from the cutscene after the boss
I've always liked final bosses that don't say a word while you fight them, no taunts, no speeches, no calling out attacks, just fighting. Words don't serve much purpose during a duel to the death anyway and most anime-like stories go way overboard on dialogue.

just finished the game couple things im confused, mc saw vision of wielder of sohayamaru but not only one. otakemaru say he longing for suzuka (?), what happen to tokichiro after revived seems like we passing through interim without regret. and above all mumyo not aging?!
I'm not sure if this helps but I'm fairly certain the visions are maybe clues to the story of the dlc, Tokichiro probably had the time to come to peace with what he did with help of our character, and I think Mumyo doesn't age because she is still wearing the pendant of sohayamru.

@@sugercane333 It is. If you look into the cutscenes description in the Gallary, it mentions heroes PAST, meaning we may go back, and experience the original wielders of the Yokai Slaying Blade.
So, William’s son would be the main protagonist for Nioh 3 in the future then. Lol

Yeah, since the difficulty for the Nioh 2 have been toned down, and more youkai aspect, this game became the true successor of Onimusha.

@@songoku9348 well yeah, when i played the demo i thought Nioh 2 is harder because i didn't know the new Parry and Youkai abilities mechanic.
but once we learned them in the final game and you know how to do it, the game is way easier, because we no longer have a limitation to just dodge and block the youkai bosses, now we can parry and drain their stamina waaaay faster with new youkai abilities.

But remember guardian spirits are almost like living beings....they can multiply and have babies...so posibly william's son was born already with okatsu's guardian spirit in it.

Can someone explain the 3 heroes vision, the first 2, idk who they were (should I?) but the 3rd is our character? I know your dagger gives you eternal life and such so before the events of Nioh 2 was our character some kind of legendary hero or something? or is that a vison of the future?
they were eighter the protagonist's reincarnations or past users of the legendary sword sohayamaru
If u follow only the storyline, u can pretty much beat this game in one day.
In coop u can easily but that's not really the way..
now the first dlc is out, we can see the cutscene from 5:30 is really showing us the dlc characters. but the 3rd one (the one wearing the red armor) look the same as our character though.

Yep. Based on the real life William Adam's Son, Joseph (Its even his name if you do a sidequest on the final map) he also had a daughter named Susanna, but I bet we'll see her in Nioh 3.
Any idea who could be the villain/antagonist of the DLC cause only Izanami (Goddess of death and creation) comes to my mind.
If they want to go with gods, Yama (king of Hell) is a good one. Historical people Taira No Masakado, Minamoto No Yoshitsune, or Abe no Seimei could be interesting pick as antagonists. Um other then that Tsuchigumo (considered a great disaster) could be a good contender also (at least as a yokai boss).

absupinhere lot more to nioh then dark souls it’s like a mix of dark souls style with loot and grind of Diablo so lots of stats plus a few special abilities
Green is healing, Red is fire damage etc
Nioh is not even near like Dark souls.

Sort of. It works well on some enemies and bosses, other enemies and bosses it just won't work at all or last for a couple seconds.

Each scene is a dlc for the game. Each person in those cutscenes is the wielder of the sword in diferent times. Pretty good lore imo

So I’m a little confused on the visions here the first one tied to the first dlc and the second visions tied to the second dlc but the third vision I’m confused how’s does that tied to the last dlc even though we never saw that same cutscene again in the first samurai.
