I'm currently in abroad , Ido paid through gcash and paymaya for the billings of my family back home , and for the crypto transactions it's so easy to used .
I remember back in 2018 when I registered to Gcash, back then, I only used it to load myself when I'm running out of load balance on my network sim. But when the pandemic hit in March 2020, it's truly a game changer to most people like me. Transactions are easier. Just scan it in grocery like a debit/credit card after your purchase, and not just in groceries. You could also use it in any type of transactions, that is why it's really convenient. You don't need to have a bank account just to save or keep your cash, you just need to have a phone and you're good to go.
With every revolution in cash technology like fintech, there must be just as much if not MORE emphasis on security for that technology. Every nation struggles with it even superpowers, and it's a constant cat and mouse game to stay ahead of the criminals. I hope the Phillipines is able to keep their systems secure because fintech has the potential to totally revolutionize how they do business and to make the lives of Filipinos much easier and efficient. I can't imagine how many hours Filipinos lose traveling to get cash out a bank and waiting in line, get cash out and atm and waiting in line, pay bills with cash and waiting in line. Just constant waiting.

Gcash even set up booths in our college just to entice students to open an account and now these students are now party of the work force, tech savy and loyal to gcash. I can even remember back in that period you can convert you load balance to cash via gcash. It was so far the easiest way to cash-in. But it was removed since a lot of scammers were stealing load balance to convert them to cash.
Its actually because of BSP's push for digital banking. The government mandated all utility services should start having payment options thru digital. Now its becoming all convenient to do so. Its not just Gcash to who made through. Paymaya & Mobile Banking apps for local Banks have been getting rapid emergence.
Convenience fee is just so so in both accounts... Overall Paymaya and GCash is worth it if you are a busy person.I also admire that there are cash backs.
You can't get a bank account in the phillipines unless you have 10000 peso which remains in the account to keep it open no wounder fintech has taken off.
Let's clarify. Gcash allows you to cash-in money thru partner merchants for free for the first 8k. You will be charged with a fee after that. But the cash in limit per month for gcash is still 100k, but 500k for accounts with linked bank accounts to gcash.
I’m using PayMaya and GCash but mostly I use PayMaya a lot, since it’s been auto debited monthly from my subscription on apple services, I use GCash to top up my credit on my Apple US account for my Apple CarePlus and iCloud Storage account, I also use GCash to pay at 7-eleven store

Just a heads up, now that the Philippines is moving towards cashless transactions. Scammers and hackers would be creaming their pants with this news. In a year or two, hell before this year even would end there will be a huge demand for IT security jobs. Or probably there's already a huge demand for that. So if there's IT or CS students around here, you might want to have that as your major.

The problem is gcash reloading cash has limits to 8k while Paymaya can reload 100k per month
