@@RobMatton-c8g And? People are entitled to smoke if they want to, just like you or me.
Shes entitled to say that.
how are they going to police that what a circus government
It's not about policing it. It's just about making something illegal. There are many laws that make things illegal but are virtually impossible to Police. For example, taking drugs, child abuse, domestic abuse, animal abuse, underage drinking, underage smoking, watching broadcast live TV without a licence etc etc. All illegal but virtually impossible to Police if done in your own home. It doesn't mean that you still cannot introduce a law just because you cannnot Police it
Omg why are they taken away our rights
Smokers are more productive.
Smoking always easy target. What about obesity drug taking or knife crime .. would think they were more important subjects to address .
Whatabout 7M NHS waiting list?
Why is lung cancer rate higher, particularly in women, despite 20 years of clean air improvement?
Of course nothing said about the fact that Rishi owns a vaping company .........
Ban smoking hahahahahaha. I hate Oakshot but she's still about. Give it a rest.
As someone who has not smoked this century I find Ms Oakeshott very disgusting.
Hate smoking, it’s disgusting but people have a right to choose what they do with their bodies!
I am not a smoker, but I would also say drinking is deadly too, killing thousands directly each year, and it also has social side effects too (domestic violence, crimes like theft, public disorder, public violence, road traffic deaths and injuries), so, on this logic why don't we go for prohibition too?!

You don't believe in free speech/expression/choice unless you support things said/performed/chosen that you really, really don't like.
Isabel has just admitted that she believes in freedom up to a point where she really, really doesn't like something.
Ergo, Isabel Oakenshott doesn't believe in freedom. Very sad to hear that.

100,000 or so. No one gave a toss about that during Covid lockdowns when alcohol consumption went through the roof.

It's not about being pro or anti smoking! It's about freedom of choice. I am not in favour of restrictions for motorists but don't even drive!

Typical reaction to something she has never tried get pissed with people like these making comments. My life my body. It is only horrible to you pet stop judging people by your personality.
Although I don't like smoking I wouldn't ban it. Just make sure it doesn't affect other people. There should be limits on state over personal power.
There are. We just allow the Interventionism.
We need to phase out Rishi Sunak not cigarettes!

Higher compared to what point in history? Smoking was extremely prevalent in history some 3+ decades ago.
Personally, I have always been a non-smoker. I guess it is because I have never been one who responds to societal pressure and to follow what others do. I am an individual capable of objective analysis. This analysis also extends to understanding that individuals are free people who will do what they want, and find creative ways to do it, especially when authoritarians place legal obstacles.

Will they ban boxing, motor racing, rock climbing? if not why not it's the same thing.
If we asked everyone to name one thing that they would like to ban we are left with everthing being ban, educate people and leave it to them to make their own choice's in life as i think every time a law or ban is put in place they remove common sense piece by piece.

The government cannot afford to ban tobacco products or alcoholic drinks, The TAX take is far too great to give up, as where will they regain that level of tax, other than puting it on either the income tax or VAT! Most of the public will not accept it if they have never smoked or drink!
