I wanted to suggest that people don’t go full AFK. There are a handful of time that the applin takes a little longer to spawn and your koridon will walk back towards you. Walks away from the tree and you need to send him back to attack again.
He only does this if you start moving around or are in his line of movement (which is anywhere infront of the back tree). If you set it up right you won’t have to worry about that at all.
Just did this method last night, super fun to do while I was packing for a trip. Had to reset once, then got it within the first 10 minutes. Love seeing the lil green apple just hanging off the tree.
For people who don't wanna waste time looking for another shinyof the sane pokemon hit the home button it will pause the timer and look up good places to shiny hunt for other pokemon with same shining power type. Iv got two shinys in one sandwich. Just a reminder.
Finally at last I got my shiny Applin! I had 4 previous attempts at it, but considering I've been playing AFK it wasn't the end of the world. Standing at the fence was definitely the best option as it didn't break at all.
Thanks for the tip, really wanted to get a shiny applin to be my grass type for a shiny team but gave up and grabbed a shiny cacnea instead. This will make things much easier!
Did four resets with the right sand which and the shiny charm and got nothing. Gonna try again tonight, the method is amazing but unfortunately I think I’m just very unlucky. If anyone else has worse luck with their hunt please let me know and make me feel better lol
As others are suggesting, Koraidon is a good pokemon to use but I used my shiny dragonite and the entire thing was 10x easier. Koraidon will sometimes run back to your tree and get confused, and sometimes an applin will spawn in your tree and he will run back to it instead, but for some reason when I switched to dragonite, he just stands there and kills them so quickly. I did this a couple days ago and i don't have the shiny charm as I don't play online but I got it in 30 minutes from being AFK and it gave me 530 applin juice so it's good for that as well
@@charlesmayfield3 nope, you can only get them from trading so you physically cannot get the charm without having online. It's sad, but even if I were to buy violet I'd have to wait until february when pokemon home comes out. I just got a switch recently and thats why I haven't bought the membership, but i'll be getting it soon
So pretty much every 4 seconds your Koraidon/Miraidon kills one apple. With shiny charm you need to kill about 512 to find a shiny. So you would still need about 34 minutes in the worst scenario which is more than your sandwitch gives you. Still most of the time you will get a shiny much earlier.
BTW this does sorta work with encounter level 2, I've tested it and you'll only need to fix the spawns every once and a while if too much non-target pokemon spawn
If you have a second switch and second acc go get 2 salty herba buy a couple of every ingredient on it and do union circle (save first) then make a sandwich the person hosting (the second acc) uses the avocado and salty herba and the main account (you will be hunting with) uses avocado and butter you get the same effects for only the cost of avocado and butter. Once you have the effect you can close game on the second account without saving and keep the herba and have unlimited herba sandwiches for only the cost of one avocado and a butter. Also you can do this with ANY shiny sandwich just use the required ingredient with butter on the main account. Makes it super cheep and considering I have such crap luck it's the only way I would shiny hunt. These guys finding 3-5 shiny with one sandwich and I'm following the guides getting one shiny every 2 sandwiches and I have the shiny charm lol RN-Gesus hates me
For anyone curious, this method still works. I’ve gotten 4 shiny Applin just today. It did take a few sandwiches as unfortunately I kept only getting 1 per sandwich but at least since I didn’t have to do any resets, it went by pretty quickly just checking in every so often. The key is to slam the tree before throwing out your ride Pokémon and for you to back yourself to the fence. If you don’t, no Applin will drop on the floor for your Pokémon to attack and get the applied to continue spawning in the tree. Good luck everyone!
@@juncaarle 😔 Keep trying! I got another 3 more the following day after posting. The first 2 followed the same pattern but the last one took a few sandwiches. I saved and reset so I didn’t lose any extra herbs so just keep trying, it will eventually shine.

@@jatunissolis7381 I think it has to be 3.... Level 2 have smaller probability. If you don't have 2 herbals of the dragon type .. make the other that's more complex(3 avocados + 1 picks + 1 cucumber + any 2 herbals) but.... Any 2 herbals also has no-nos.... Look it up.
I saw this with another youtuber days ago and they claim it works. And actually using any Pokemon big enough as the box legendaries (Gyarados,Dondozo). Haven't tried myself but you will need to have them spawn one after the other so the Pokémon can keep knocking them out.

I am consuming all bad luck in the universe here. Doing my 7th reset. I measured this. At 1 encounter every 6 seconds you get 300 encounters a sandwich. Chances with shiny charm, which I have is 1/683.08. That means you should get a shiny this way just about every 2.2767666... sandwiches. It's not like it is a coinflip every sandwich. I am at over 95% chance that i should have encountered one before. WTF is going on
Just a reminder that you do have to check it once in a while. Just tried it and got one FAST, it worked! However, Koraidon got stuck once and retreated another time when the spawn delayed a bit. Pay attention and re-send your Pokémon if anything like this happens.
Just noticed how Koraidon retreats when you open the menu, don't open the menu while doing this lol Yes, even the buff duration window! And yes, I'm still doing that first sandwich while I sent this message and etc, it works *that* well lol

I have been doing this and Ive barely had any applins show up. What gives? My Dragon sandwhich timer keeps getting lower yet it seems everything else keeps showing up first, if anything at all....
This was fixed during the 1st big update You can still do it you just have to be in the right spot and your Pokémon must be in the right spot for it to work
I think there might be some kind of stealth buff to shiny rate during the prologue (before you enter mesgosa for the 1st time). You might wanna try to look into it.. I have 3 shiny pokemon in less than 2 hours playtime, and I haven't entered mesagosa yet. I could provide screenshots. It's kindof wild. I tried googling other people having same encounters and there's quite a handful of people with at least 1 shiny before reaching the city
Blaine question if you do giveaway again. Can you do like Charizard events. When you can only trade with bots once. That way people like me wants shiny jp ditto.
I would also add you can afk slither wing by going to zero gate making a fighting sandwich jump in to the very very first part kill everything that's not slither wing wait for all 20 something slither wing to spawn send out your koraidon and occasionally you will have to send him out again but doing it I got my shiny one is 4 minutes
I will say this it took a little experimenting to set it up just right, finally got it to work. Sometimes my Pokémon would just flutter away and Applin would quit spawning haha

If you have 2 Switch consoles, 2 plays (S/V respectively) and you're far enough on 1 of the accounts you can just duo a Sandwich, leave the party and hunt it on 2 accounts at once at the cost of just 1 sandwich.
This didn't seem to work for me at all every time I made the sandwich and started the auto battling. It kept stopping every 10 to 15 minutes I had to reset my save eight times as I did this for 4 hours and didn't get a single shiny. Also I have the shiny charm hopefully discord will have shiny applin in a giveaway or trade and I can just get the item to evolve it myself
Try standing a distance from the tree with the Applins your spawn killing like near the Team Star Camp. Also try a Dragonite instead of Miraidon. I've been getting better results that way.
I tried Dragonite as well and many others and I didn't go AFK I did it 4 hours straight watching waiting and it kept doing that stopping and never spawned a single shiny so it was definitely not worth the wasted 4 hours but whatever. I got it on discord once the giveaway came out.

Unfortunately, this no longer works. Game Freak can't do patches to fix the lag that makes the game virtually unplayable in places, but they can patch something like this. -_-

It's about a 50% chance per sandwich, so you just got as unlucky as flipping a coin four times and getting four heads.
On 1st try no Applin. Then reset to last save tried again and got it within 10 mins .

with autosave off, you could reset if you don't get the shiny with your first sandwich
2 sandwiches is pretty good still, ezpecially that it's afk
Or you can do the unlimited herba exploit if you have a friend or a second switch and just make free sandwiches

Came back to this to get an Applin in preparation for the DLC. I'll hopefully be able to get a Dripplin fairly quickly ;D
Due to the 'cap' of pokemon spawns, this method no longer works well because other wild pokemon prevent the applin from spawning sometimes.
Worked fine for me.
The apples needed to evolve Applin can be found on the ground in the same forest regularly, but thankfully they're not expensive if you decide to buy them instead.

I'm newer to raids, how did you get so many of the herba mysticas? Did like 30 raids yesterday and only dropped 2..
He has people in his discord hosting raids with pre determined drops. Lots of herba mystica. He also has made a video on this.

A curious fact is that if you unsync your controller, miraidon won't keep going.
You can also do this with rocks and ledges , as long as a flying pokemon doesn't attack you

I had the same problem. Go into the star base away from the trees and grass then make the sandwich.

I can confirm. I got my first shiny (Lechonk) by that Pokemon Center in front of Mesagoza
that's interesting. my first shiny was VERY early on shiny Toxel before I went to mesagosa. I accidentally KO'd it tho :(

Picnic reset is faster for the charcadet farm but Charcadet candies and used in some very powerful tms so it's worth farming them if wish as well.

Mine are not just automatically spawning in the tree, did the set up correctly 🤷🏻♂️
I will say this it took a little experimenting to set it up just right, finally got it to work. Sometimes my Pokémon would just flutter away and Applin would quit spawning haha

You’re wrong, they won’t auto spawn. Well not unless I ride away. Still might work though
You have to be at a distance for the spawn to trigger but not too far away that Koraidon will return to you

Try standing a distance from the tree with the Applins your spawn killing like near the Team Star Camp.
Also try a Dragonite instead of Miraidon. I've been getting better results that way.
I tried Dragonite as well and many others and I didn't go AFK I did it 4 hours straight watching waiting and it kept doing that stopping and never spawned a single shiny so it was definitely not worth the wasted 4 hours but whatever. I got it on discord once the giveaway came out.

@@charliethecreator5277 so i noticed if your a little to close it wont always respawn! I find that stand back and hugging the side of th Aplin tree’s twin gives you just enough distance that there’s always an 🍎 🍏

Unfortunately, this no longer works. Game Freak can't do patches to fix the lag that makes the game virtually unplayable in places, but they can patch something like this. -_-
Working for me since the latest update. I just caught my 3rd shiny Applin this way.
@@johnhedler6943 I did the setup several times. Didn't work. A single applin kept falling and no more spawned.
If it happens again, warp to the nearby Center and go back. Lock on to the Applin and send your Pokémon out. Then, back up to the fence and sit.

So why koiraidon and miraidon? Is it a hit box thing? Do they auto battle longer? What's the reason?
I've been told the mon needs to be tall enough, so the legends or a garchomp are best
