Nice tip! I will follow it when installing my 034 camster plate. You seem very knowledgeable about modding this car. Do you think it's necessary to replace the strut bearing and mounting hardware when installing top mounts?
I would replace the strut bearing simply because it's a huge pain of a job to have to re-do. Use OEM parts only. I don't reuse any of the factory torque to yield hardware, I replace every time. The 034 upper mounts will not require new strut top bolts (3 per side) since the mounts come with shorter ones needed for the different design. I have a suspension hardware checklist in the "Resources" section of my website you might find useful: www.datadrivenmqb.com/resources It's just a general guideline I use for myself, but figured I'd share the spreadsheet for others to download/use/modify for themselves as they see fit. Use at your own risk, verify part numbers for your specific car, etc. etc. Good luck with the install!
@@datadrivenmqb Hi, may I ask what type of rtv did you use? Do you think it has to be rtv for making engine gasket or any rtv should be fine. Thanks in advance!
@@datadrivenmqb I appreciate it. I bought them and will use RTV as you suggest. Car is new so bearing are OE and new. Should be fine. Thanks again for sharing your experience.
@@dscpat no problem! As long as they're paired with OEM or 034 springs I wouldn't expect issues. Anything else needs to be looked at very closely as outlined in the video. Anecdotally everyone who's had problems has been on some other type of spring. I suspect the level of interference may vary car to car and spring mfr to spring mfr.
Good to see. I love the rtv tip since I've thought about adding the top mounts to my wife's TDI wagon.

@@Evan-ld3jm type likely doesn’t matter. Grey/black/red should all be just fine.
@@datadrivenmqb Thank you sir!
Love this! ❤️ 🍻
0 NVH for 2 years ? Wow. the amount of people saying they are terrible NVH-wise is overwhelming...i am torn.
@@dscpat honestly I think most problems are installer related. I'm approaching 30k since install with no problems or noises now.
