I really liked your control over your musicality. Even though this piece doesn't have easy techniques, the way you played musically really impressed me. Keep up the good work, and good luck with your future arrangements!
"I'm going to attend a amateur piano competition for college students" The word amateur made me gag. If you don't win that competition i will consume my right shoe.
This is one of the hardest transcendental etudes it could be the hardest or the second hardest (different pianists opinion). Usually people say the hardest is no. 5 " Feux follets"
I recently decided to learn this piece and I'm stunned by the level of musicality achieved in this performance. Also, I don't like most interpretations (mainly the pedalling) at 4:27, since to me if there is too much pedal in that bit it sounds too sloppy (this is my opinion, everyone has different tastes), on the other hand, the way you played that bit is exactly how I like it: staccato and almost playful. (the rest of the piece is awesome as well, obviously). Kudos man!
i'm so glad you covered my favourite transcendental etude and probably my favourite Liszt's work, i've been one of the firsts to subscribe and this is a great gift. good job on that piece, despite some imperfections you managed to keep it flowing quite well
You know I'm a big fan of Liszt's music and I'm hungarian too.. nevermind, I'm that kind of person who relies on his ear. I don't care if someone plays with perfect technique but can't take the sound out of a piece. Your technique might require some practice but never forget I say: This is beautiful to the ear, you made this piece sound very well, musically it is alright I think and very dramatic so I really appreciate it ;)
No wonder you can play Animenz's arrangements so well. Liszt's my all time favorite classical composer. His pieces are full of godlike techniques, and they sound awesome as well. Mazeppa is one of them. Love it!
Wow this again shows your incredible technique bravo! Would you play some Chopin etudes... That would be pretty cool, I'm not asking for any one in particular though. Anyways nice playing!
I didn't have the time to watch the whole video when i commented so i just finished watching it and i'm pretty impressed, i knew that you had good piano skills from your arrangements and your animenz covers but to play the mazeppa at tempo and with such a little amount of mistakes really is impressing. You should totally upload classical pieces once in a while if you're okay with not only uploading anime music on this channel (and obviously if you feel like it), no one would be able to complain about you uploading really nice classical pieces and it would allow a lot of people to discover the beauty of classical music !
Transcendental etudes by liszt is not a very easy piece even thougj you are playing piano for years. You need a lot of patience and dedication in order to play it accordingto composer's intention. It is so nice to hear you playimgbthis difficult piece very polished even thoughbit is not on the original tempo. But hats off for yoy for playing this piece. It's just a myth... but it actually happened, but it wasn't a performing mistake but he couldn't make his piece popular so he failed in that kind of situation.
how long have you been playing piano ? I played about 10 years and I am only working on Chopin concerto and ballade I wish I could play like you, transcend etudes are no joke
M.C. HARIER You're playing 3 years and one of the hardest op 10 etudes is just "only" for you? Most people would think only of learning op 10 no 5, or 12 after 3 years
Dude, even though like you said, you haven't practiced this piece in a while, it is still pretty nice. Congratulations! I am still a beginner, I hope someday I can reach this level. I'll keep practicing everyday :P. Videos like yours and Animenz's give me determination to carry on. If possible, I have a request :) Could you some time play "Lost in Thoughts All Alone", the SheetMusicDesu version? It techniclly isn't anime but a videogame song but I still find it formidable and it would be great to see someone performing it. I totally think you can do it,
Luis Perdomo I dont mean to destroy your motivation but only a small amount of pianists in the world could even begin to grasp this piece, its Liszt... :/
Between this piece and Unravel , which one do you think is harder ? But oh my god ,you are so amazing James O_O everything is so accurate ! The note , the dynamic control , the tempo , EVERYTHING Great job man :D
You know Unravel is really hard as well, it contains a lot of technicall difficulties which you can find in Liszt's pieces, actually technically wise you could think Liszt himself wrote it, but Mazeppa is still harder.
this is about the hardest piece I have ever played, but I can do some even harder piece but it take a lot of time and I'm not sure whetheri can control very well or not
That's a great playing for 15(?) years of piano, considering he's not a professional! Can someone tell me which edition is he using for transcendental etudes? I'd be very thankful (sorry for any mistakes, i'm not a native english speaker) Edit. C'mon...SAMEONE TELL ME WHAT EDITION IS THIS! It has been almost 6 months Edit 2. Waiting 2 years already, still no answer
this looks and sounds harder but the fingering of la campanella if crazy man. But I personally think this is harder, but la campanella sounds way better. (my opinion)
Sorry. I don't watch anime. I was just here for Mazeppa. And...not bad. I was impressed

I recently saw a concert pianist play this. The fact that you are able to play this, even decently, strikes me as incredible.
Me as well.
Damn a Liszt Transcendental Etude. Impressive. One of my favorite of the set. Have you played any others?
I recommend Czerny Op.399 Etude #10 Grand Allegro Fugato And Czerny Op.756 Etude 3

Amateur doesn't mean bad
There are many harder pieces. If someone played this same piece as him but with more musicality and speed they will win

I'm speechless, this is awesome. You're an awesome pianist, great job on this piece, which looks veeery difficult and technical!
From this piece, I can see a lot of similar techniques been used for anime piano arrangement. THis is definitely a good etude! :D

Older Liszt after the "Années de Pèlerinage" is just godly
Any arrangement by animenz is child's play compared to this.
@@taputapuu9487 His work doesn't transcend 150 years for nothing :)
Even with the original fingering for the thirds. Amazing

Woah ... Classical Music.
This piece is so hard to play.... Great Job !!
Great techniques man! Keep it up!
Fantastic work!
Just rewatching this video, wondering how this part at 2:20 is physically playable... Did you have to practice this part a lot?
that's actually pretty easy, the big problem in this piece are elsewhere :D
The combination of two hands makes it look more difficult than it is
It is much easier than octaves in 1:07.
Nice performance! Would you ever consider uploading a cover of Listz's Hungarian rhapsody no 2? If not, that's fine. Nice job again though.
We are yet again, reminded, of how insane, composers of the past can be.
I think, cannot confirm, that Liszt was challenged to play one of his own compositions and failed.
It's just a myth... but it actually happened, but it wasn't a performing mistake but he couldn't make his piece popular so he failed in that kind of situation.
Amazing job. Can you give me some tips on how to get fast and clear chromatic octaves? thank you...
