  • James B. Eads became a self-taught master of the 19th Century Mississippi River in multiple ways: as a salvage king, boat-designer, diving-bell inventor, bridge builder, Civil War ironclad creator, and jetty builder. This video was produced as part of the Waters to the Sea education program at Hamline University's Center for Global Environmental Education: cgee.hamline.edu. It appears in CGEE's Mississippi Multimedia Gallery (www.hamline.edu...) and Waters to the Sea (www.hamline.edu...) education programs.
