SHRIMP DADDY INSPIRED RECIPE // Spicy GARLIC BUTTER SHRIMP // Quarantine Cravings

- If you've had Shrimp Daddy, you know how good it is. I attempted to recreate it at home and this is how it turned out! It's sweet, spicy, garlicky, and finger lickin' good!

Spicy Garlic Butter Shrimp Recipe
Ingredients:
1 - 2 lbs Shrimp
(Marinate lightly with salt, pepper, paprika)
-Minced garlic
-Potato starch (sub: corn starch, AP flour)
Sauce:
⁃ 3 heaping tbsp gochujang (Korean red chili paste)
⁃ Gochugaru - Korean red pepper powder (to taste)
⁃ 3 tbsp fish sauce
⁃ 1 1/2 tbsp honey
⁃ 2 tbsp rice syrup
⁃ 3/4 cup water (can adjust based on desired thickness of sauce)
Directions:
1. Clean and devein shrimp (leave shell and tail on)
2. Dry shrimp with paper towel (if wet)
3. Marinate shrimp with salt, pepper, and paprika for 30 mins
4. Make clarified butter by melting butter on a low temperature until
fully melted. Strain and discard milk solids.
5. In a saucepan, combine gochujang, gochugaru, rice syrup, honey,
fish sauce, and water. Bring to a boil then lower temp and mix
thoroughly.
6. Coat marinated shrimp with potato starch. Shake off any excess.
7. Heat pan with an even layer of oil and fry shrimp on each side until
it starts to change color (2-3 mins).
8. Drain oil, leaving about 2-3 tbsp. Add clarified butter and minced
garlic.
9. Add sauce and toss to coat evenly.
10. Squeeze some lemon juice and garnish with green onion and
some extra lemon wedges. Serve with rice or noodles :)

love this recipe! what’s a good substitute for some of the ingredients for those who prefer not spicy/mild?
Thank you! I would say there aren’t really any substitutes but you could definitely leave those ingredients out. You can’t go wrong with just garlic, butter, and a few other ingredients for the shrimp. The end product would just be sweet and savory instead of sweet and spicy!
