My favorite part is when he says "these nuts". About to do my brakes on my '18. Thank you for this thorough video. Also, for your piston tool, you need to put an old pad on the piston, then use the tool to compress the pad that is pushing on the piston, instead of going inside the piston. Hope that makes sense.
I'm wanting to start changing my brake pads on my 2019 Malibu and I want to have a jack stand for added safety. What is the one you're using in the video called? Does the jack stand sit under the notches under the pinch welds?
@@joncam602 I think its also recommended to buy jack pad adapters to place on your jack and jack stand to protect the pinch welds and to make it more secured with less chance of sliding. Have you used them? I wonder if they are necessary.
Well, I guess I forgot to add that in the video. I ended up losing one of the clips but to be honest it doesn't appear to be needed. Even though it doesn't look like it's needed, you want to always put things back to the way it was.
Usually, it's in the trunk with the spare tire. If it's not there, you will need to search inside your entire car. If you are not able to find it, you will need to break it off.
My mistake. I didpumpd the brake after the process was done. I just forgot to add it to this video. Thanks for pointing this out it is important to do this when done.
If you just want to see the progress of replacing the brake pads go to 4:50 to 14:15
Honestly, the fact that you decided to just get out there and record this for everyone and anyone who needs it is awesome.
This is the only video I've found specifically for this generation of Malibu on RUclips. I'm gonna do my 2019 today using your video. Thanks bro!
Thank you. I appreciate the time and energy it took you to make this video.

@13:17 ... It's called a caliper guide pin. And has built-in boots
Did you make a video for the rear brakes yet? I'm gonna need that next! Lbvs
Yes, I have made a video for the back brakes.
U needed the old brake pad I the compression tool

It's called a ratcheting jack stand. Yes, you do want to put it on that pinch weld next to or near closest to the hydraulic jack.

The tire should also be replaced 😢
@@botirshakarov1501 Thanks for the comment. Just so you are aware, this video is not about the tire.
Are back breaks the same layout
Yes, except for when you need to depress the caliber cylinder. Check out my new video on how to replace the back brakes.
What about the lil wire clips on the pads, where did they go?

@@joncam602those are the retainer clips/ anti rattle clips, lets the pads slide freely without any rattle noise
@@Diablos809 I have been driving without one of the clips for some months now and it appears to not have any affect.
@@joncam602 yea, the more I do brakes for people with newer cars the more I find out that new pads tend to not come with them anymore
Where do you get the key?

You put grease on the rotor and the pads?
Throw a old pad in front of your piston and you’ll gain space to turn
So you didn’t pump your brakes bacc up

Next time break the nuts while the tire is on the ground before jacking it up
Solid video Dog appreciate the help
